I've looked but can't find the thread that I'm thinking of regarding the Transformable Minions ( if you are able to link it, that would be greatly appreciated).

Anyway, this thread is similar to the above transformable minions.

There are two shops on here that sell items permanently without any change in stock whatsoever (rotation or otherwise). These two shops are Fine Fabrics in Shengui Guo's Floating Market and GoOutside in Veta Lake.

Unless staff states otherwise, these items are permanently in stock for sP purchase 24/7 365/366 (leap year) days of the year. I've seen users trying to sell items from these shops in their own shops for more than what it'd cost to buy them directly from the NPC shops themselves. This isn't right. I think that something should be added to the description of each item (maybe using enough *********** to separate the description from the note in the description, forcing the description to have its own separate section as spaces aren't allowed) to let others know, especially new players, that these items are consistently for sale in these shops.

The transformable Batticus and Crowley, and their respectable transformable items, have had their descriptions updated with notes to let newer players know that they're transformable items and so that they can check prices out to find the cheapest version to purchase. Staff didn't like the thought of newer or unknowing players getting taken for a lot of unnecessary sP

These items from both Fine Fabrics and GoOutside aren't transformable, BUT they're unlimited in quantity and easily obtainable. It isn't fair for new players to think that they're only obtainable from player shops and in limited quantities due to the items' rarity of Artifact. I think permanent items (such as Fine Fabric and GoOutside items), and, actually, all transformable items on site that are expensive (aka: other old transformable minions and transformable Collection/Donation Present items {if Donation Present items have transformable options}) should all have their descriptions changed and updated with informative notes so that everyone's on the same page and not have to worry about paying more than they should for any item.

Yes I know there are a lot of items on site that transform and it'd take time to get all the descriptions changed, but it would keep from having an absurd amount of sP being paid out by players for something they could get cheaper in the original forms.

If you're wondering why I didn't include the Saheric Head Scarves in this it's because they're so cheap in all their forms that it's not a huge deal to worry about them.

Description changed, no, but I asked several times for their shops to be added on shop search. This is what should be done, imo.

I would like for all shops with constant stock to be added to the shop search (quest shops and seasonal event shops come to mind). I don't think descriptions need to be changed as far as those types of items go, but iirc staff is already planning on adding the other items that something transforms from/into to the descriptions.

I know I was caught off guard once by an item I forgot was in a quest shop, it's not like I really got scammed per se, as I traded for it at its current shop value, but it's not something I would have been interested in had I realized it. I find that a far more useful feature than adding things into the description because not everyone is going to check there, but most people will check the shop search for an item

I'm waiting to hear back from a programmer about how I can add the shops like these to shop search that haven't been added yet. :) We aren't going to change the descriptions because the shop search should be fine once we get it completely updated!

I don't think these need to have the description changed, but they should bring up the links to their shops just like other special shop items.

However, I think this needs to be fixed more for convenience and clarity than to prevent scamming. A lot of casual players might not even know these various new shops exist, especially as they don't appear on the Main Shops page or in when shop searching.

Users, even new ones, have to take some measure of personal responsibility before buying expensive items from other users. It's on the buyer to do the research and make sure the item they're buying can't obtained for less elsewhere, especially since I suspect many sellers may not realize they overpriced the item in the first place.

I know I personally had in my shop at 20mil for quite a while, b/c I'd priced based on the other copies in user shops. I didn't realize it was still available in the cash shop!

I already made a thread in regards to having GoOutside items to be shown on SS as "This item can be found in these locations: GoOutside" since there was a 15k item sold for 15m and that scared the shit out of me. Not to mention the fact that it relies on the buyer to do the research, even for less expensive items around 500~800k which happens to most Zombie Den items

and please for the carnival shop too, I made the mistake and bought the Wolf Cuddle Buddy for 700k for the achievement and I had the tickets to buy it.. but didn't know that it's in the carnival shop..

the Carnival ticket shop isn't the same though. Those aren't items that you can buy with sP. They're bought with tickets which are much different. Those tickets are earned by paying for games with wiz tokens.

So what? They are items that are far easier to earn through the shops themselves, with unlimited stock. I don't see what sP vs. other currencies has to do with anything.

Especially since Token Shop items, Cash Shop items, Custom Wears that are in user boutiques, Crystal Shop items are also properly indicated on the shop search. So are Forum Shop items. All of them can be bought with alternate currencies that are not SP

Carnival Shop need to be added. Loyalty Shop as well.

Thanks for raising this point. imo, it's fully justified.

It's not the same currency but the same issue.. I didn't get the right information about a specific item and I bought for more than what it really worth. 20 tickets sp rate is less than 700k. even not close. if I had any information about this item like the location and I had the right choice where to buy it, I would choose the tickets, the same thing for you, you would choose the GoOutside shop.

I agree with , , and the others who think it's necessary to update the shop search for static shops of any site currency since that's a set precedent, rather than tampering with a ton of hover descriptions.

The overall anti-scamming sentiment is great considering a pro-scamming argument I read in a post on the recent topic about transformable minions in Site Feedback...

Popping in here to point out that items from Esther, Menagerie, and Libertine Lounge also say where they come from on shop search (unless they're retired) and none of those shops use sp. So adding the Carnival shop shouldn't be a problem?

I was thinking the Carnival shop would show up like they would with regular NPC shops: on top of all the user shops with the sP price and the ability to buy it immediately. I forgot completely about the little messages that appear above the shop list. reminded me otherwise lol

The L'amour Parlor should be added too

Whenever staff opens a shop, they need to add it to "This item can be found in..." right away instead of putting it off. This happens every time a shop opens - we need to make forum topics about it or the items don't get added. I feel like it would almost be better not to have the feature at all than to have it but never update it. >_>

Having the feature makes people think that if an item is available in an NPC shop, then shop search will tell them. So if they search for something and it doesn't show up as being available in an NPC shop, they'll be more likely to go "oh, I guess I can't buy it from any NPC shops, then, or it would have told me," and get scammed. At least when we didn't have it at all, nobody was relying on it to give them info about item location. I'm not suggesting the feature be removed, I'm just pointing out how something that works only half the time can be as bad as not having it.

The same problem is gonna happen if only some transformable items get warnings.

It's kind of sad that SubetaLodge is so much better at item info than Subeta itself :P

Thank you. I'm sorry that I was so grumpy in my post :P

Can you add the Shengui Guo shops, or at least Fine Fabrics? The other two with rotating items might be more complicated, but maybe there's some way you can do a "not available right now" like with the Token Shop.

edit: or is that what you meant by needing to ask the programmers about it? sorry!

I'm going to do those shops in the morning! It's 2am right now and I sort of already broke shop search trying to do Fine Fabrics, I just need to test that one a bit more tomorrow. Also the way the minion shop is set up (also the food one, I believe) makes it pretty difficult to add it to the list as of right now. I just need to go through and tag all the items (minions/foods) because the code for those shops just have a range of itemids instead of being tagged as something like "shengui food" or whatever like other shops (quest shops, carnival, etc) are because it's not technically a restocking shop so I can't really search it via shop id. Just a few things I need to take care of now that I know how! :)

[edit]

The asking a programmer thing was just me asking Keith and Grace how exactly the shop search is set up! I tried looking for the file myself but couldn't find where this bit of code was, so was just waiting to hear back from one of them. :) They both messaged me pretty quickly and told me what to do so I can add any missing shops + any future shops I"ll be able to add very quickly. :)
