"Oh, hello! If you're here for the Charms Club, this is it!" He paused to let the students all look at each other bemused. He frowned. "Kidding. This is the Quidditch Club."
He set down his broom and the quaffle and takes a look around.
"Since this is the first meeting, I'd like to write down all your names so I know who's joining up. If you decide to leave at any time, that's fine, just make sure you let me know." He pulled out a clipboard and a quill and passed it to the nearest student for them to jot their name down. "Just write your name and house down and pass it along. Once we get that passed around a bit, maybe we'll start some exercises. Have all of you flown before? Looks like we have some First Years here."
He looked around the room and waved to a group of young girls in the back. He looked at the students looking at him expectantly and smacked his forehead.
"I should've mentioned. I'm Malcolm Knox, current captain of the Quidditch Club. Since we started the club so late in the term, the Headmistress asked me to step in as the captain. Next term, there will be tryouts for the next Club Captain. I'm a Seventh Year, so I won't be here to head the club again." He stuck out his chest a bit as he spoke, trying to show authority, but the effect was almost comical.
"So, back to my earlier question. Has anyone in the group never flown before?"
List of Club Members
- Francine Branch - Gryffindor
- Rox Oatwood - Gryffindor
- Judy Sprout - Gryffindor
- Akela Black - Gryffindor
- Turokai - Slytherin
- Amanda Abernathy - Ravenclaw - Elune - Ravenclaw - Beth Hale - Ravenclaw - Gaia Kavanagh - Ravenclaw - Fade Eventide - Ravenclaw
Amanda had been so excited for Quiddich Club ever since she had signed up for it. As she walked confidently into the pitch, she recalled her fond childhood memories of watching her father play Quiddich, and as she got older zooming across the countryside herself.
She listened to Malcolm's speech and giggled with the other girls when he waved at them. When the paper was passed to her she wrote down Amanda Abernathy (Literature) - Ravenclaw, and passed it along.
Since she had flown before she waited quietly after he asked his question, waiting to see what would happen next.

Francine's hand flew into the air quickly before speaking very loudly and boisterously. "I've flown loads of times. My family is very big on following Quidditch. I don't think we've missed a single game!"

Elune excitedly stepped onto the field. She carefully set her Cleansweep Eleven on the grass, then stood next to Amanda. As her eyes circled the pitch, she drew in a deep, appreciative breath and exhaled slowly. Aside from the library, she felt this field was her "place" in the world.
She listened to Malcolm Knox, and watched as more students took their places on the field. She eyed everyone, then asked, "What positions are you most comfortable playing?"
"I adore beater and chaser most; but, as long as I'm flying, I'm happy." Her fingers tingled at the thought of whooshing through the air.
"By the way, I'm Elune from Ravenclaw."
🌸Seeking:
"I'm a seeker of course. My small frame is perfect for it!" Francine said with gusto, bringing up her arm and flexing it. "Look at my muscles!" She said. It was apparent that any 'muscles' she thought she had weren't really there, but her over-confidence sure was entertaining at least.
Turo' stood awkwardly on the edge of the pitch, looking a bit out of place in her oversized American national quidditch team jersey. Her battered Comet 140 was evidence that her enthusiasm far outstripped her flying skills.
"Uh, hello. I've been told I'd be best as a chaser, but I'm a fair beater. She said as she wrote her name, and Shytherin house down. Her stocky boyish build at least made her last claim plausible.

Malcolm nodded as he listed to the girls chat about their love of the game already. He waited for someone to speak up about needing some practice flying for a few moments, but then cleared his throat.
"Does anyone need Quidditch explained? No need to be shy if you don't know about it or haven't flown yet."
Malcolm picked up the quaffle and started tossing it up in the air, then catching it again.

Rox had been excited for the Quidditch club since she had heard about it and signed up for it. She had loved Quidditch ever since the first game she had watched with her father and when she finally received her letter from Hogwarts, she knew that she would enter everything Quidditch related as she loved the game.
She had learned to fly a long time ago and loved the feeling of just being free in the air.
She listened to Malcolm's speech. When the paper finally reached her she quickly wrote her name down Rox Oatwood from Gryffindor and the passed the paper along to the next person.
"Erm, well I may be a bit out of practice" Turokai admitted sheepishly, looking nervously at the Quaffle. "Been a bit rough getting any flying in since my folks relocated here from the 'States."
Beth listened to Malcolm's speech. She excitedly jotted down her name when the paper reached her. She could hardly contain herself.
At Malcolm's question, she couldn't help but feel nervous. "The only flying I've done is here. I barely have any experience. My parents wanted my sisters and I to wait until we were at school to learn how to fly," she tells him ().
"My position is Chaser. I can also play Keeper when needed though!" Amanda was very tall and lithe. She had strong arms, and a great reach. The quaffle was the ball she felt most comfortable on the Quiddich pitch, ever since she was a child. She watched Malcolm tossing it up and down, wondering when she would be able to get her hands on the ball.
She looked around at all the other students gathering at the pitch. There were many familiar faces, and she was excited to get to spend time with them outside of their in school activities.

"I've never actually played Quidditch before. I've never played it flying. My sisters and I would try playing it by foot. My family loves watching Quidditch. We attend the World Cup in Argentina last year. The match between Brazil and Bulgaria was amazing. I know I have more of a Seeker's build but I'd love to play as a Chaser or a Beater," she exclaimed.
Where's Lyn () and ? she thought to herself as she looked at the familiar faces around her.

"I'm sorry. I didn't want to be late. I thought we would clean up after Quidditch club," Beth whispered to Gaia. "Malcolm is the Quidditch Club Captain. He asked us if we knew how to fly. He wants us to write down our name and house," Beth explained to Gaia as she handed her the clipboard.

Malcolm saw that the clipboard is starting to make its way around the circle and started to bounce on the balls of his feet.
"Good to hear that most of you have some experience with the game!" he said excitedly. He started to bounce a little more and held the Quaffle in one arm, shoving his free hand in his pocket.
"We're going to wait just a bit longer for any stragglers to show up, then if no one needs any explanations or demonstrations on how to fly or play the game, we'll get up in the air and start passing the Quaffle around. I don't want to overexert anyone on the first meeting, so we'll just be keeping it to some simple exercises today," he said, then turned to Beth (). "Do you want us to stick closer to the ground until you get a feel for it?"

() Gaia raises her hand in the air suddenly. "Erm... Malcolm? Can we start stretching? or something? on the ground I mean?" Gaia waited for an answer by sitting on the floor and started warming her legs. "I don't know if it is a muggle thing but I always stretch before any sport. Also are you planning on being a professional player now that you are leaving Hogwarts?"
Startled, he looked over at .
"What? Oh, yes, if you'd like to, feel free! What's that saying about idle hands...?" he trails off, then shakes his head. "Professional? Nah, I'm not interested. I like the game for fun. Not very competitive."
