Pretend for a moment that he made a mistake, and one of your favorite characters (or yourself) had been sorted into a different house. Which house would it be?

In honor of Mrs. Hermione Weasley's birthday, we are doing a House Swap Human Avatar Challenge!

Choose a character from the Harry Potter series and sort them into a different house! Why did you choose that house?

If you don't want to re-sort a character from the series, re-sort yourself and explain why!

Some rules for this challenge: 1.) Your outfit should somehow embody the House you choose, whether it be a school uniform, in your House colors, or somehow showing that House's traits. 2.) Let us know who it is you're sorting and whether they are from the series or your original character. 3.) Please explain why you choose the House you did! 4.) Bonus points may be awarded for particularly creative entries.

Each member may only submit one avatar. If you choose to do a character from the series and successfully adhere to the challenge rules and theme, you will receive 20 House Points. If you choose to use your original character and successfully adhere to the rules and theme, you will receive 10 House Points!

Draco Malfoy, sorted into Ravenclaw!

i've always though Draco was really smart?? he did come up with the whole plan with the vanishing cabinet and he also managed to fix it. i don't remember if there was evidence that he was good in his classes, but he was definitely skilled at occlumency and potions - and even if he isn't book smart, i think he certainly has the creativity/originality/individuality that makes a ravenclaw. :) just thought it would be interesting to see him in this house!

I've chosen the harry potter character Hermione Granger to re-sort. The reason I chose Hermione is because she's always been my favorite character of the books and the movies. She was sorted into gryffindor in the books, but I always believed her to be a ravenclaw girl much more. The description that the sorting hat gave to ravenclaw: "Where those of wit and learning" totally describes Hermione. She's always been the first to understand every subject being taught at Hogwarts and she's always studying, so therefor I made the decision to re-sort her into ravenclaw.

"Severus started feeling dread, he had hoped Lily would have joined Ravenclaw or even Hufflepuff not Gryffindor, but the Hat had sorted. He will be separated from his only friend unless he joined Gryffindor.

The moment the thought occured to him, the boy with the messy black hair joined Lily and his friend. He had no desire to be in the same house as those two...but Lily. And what would his mother think? She expected him to join her old house, he couldn't deceive her...but Lily.

The names were getting closer to his, he needed to get his wit together before it was his turn. He wanted to stay close to his friend. His mother wouldn't be the one to spend 7 years without Lily by her side, he would be. And if supporting the two idiots was necessary to keep close to Lily then he would. The stern professor called his name, he gathered his courage, if needs be he would argue but when he will leave the stall, a bright smile would welcome him to the red and gold."

(Seriously, Severus is a brave character. He dropped all he had for love and sacrificed his life to repay his misdeed. At least that's how I see him.)

I am not really a Harry Potter "fan". I have read the books and seen the movies but like any other book or movie when it has ended my mind completely forgets what happened. I chose Peter because of some Google searching I discovered he was most definitely sorted into the wrong house. Gryffindor values bravery, daring, nerve, and chivalry none of these characteristics none of these does Peter have. He should have been sorted into Slytherin as it values such traits as cunning, resourcefulness, and ambition which Peter certainly displayed when he became a spy and he defected to Lord Voldemort; betrayed James, his wife Lily, and their son Harry to Lord Voldemort; faked his own death and framed Sirius for betraying James and Lily, as well as for his own murder and those of the twelve Muggles he killed during his escape.

I'm definitely into Inter-House harmony and firmly believe that the vast majority of J.K. Rowling's characters are written very well as to be morally gray, and not necessarily firmly good or evil. I really like the work she puts into backstories and explaining motivations. Personally, I don't think the Sorting Hat makes mistakes because it can't foretell the future. It sees the unrealized potential in people but they do have the free will to make good or bad choices with their lives.

Mine seems a bit oddly forgiving, but I'd sort Cho Chang into Hufflepuff instead of Ravenclaw. I think she's a young girl who thinks with her heart and not her head. I see Hufflepuff House as loyal and hardworking, not the "load o' duffers" or "leftovers" that they are noted as at times. Her loyalties lie with her beloved boyfriend alive or dead (Cedric, despite Harry's high-status and her personal attraction to him), and her best friend Marietta (an eventual traitor to the DA under duress). She's not snobby about blood purity, having joined and fought with Dumbledore's Army and eventually marries a Muggle man despite dating popular wizards at Hogwarts. Cho is kind imo, but I'm admittedly a fan of book Cho over the choices made to portray movie Cho.

Minerva McGonagall (Gryffindor -> Ravenclaw)

It's canonical that McGonagall was a hatstall between the two Houses, and I've always been a little surprised that the Sorting Hat came down on Gryffindor for McGonagall. She is an academic through-and-through, both as an educator and a researcher, publishing articles in Transfiguration Today, and a very talented and creative witch (Animagus, can cast a corporeal Patronus, her work defending Hogwarts from Voldemort). Also like a Ravenclaw, she has a low tolerance for people doing things she considers stupid and has a very dry wit.

I chose Fred and George Weasley. Although they are loyal and courageous I also believe they are very smart and clever and could have been put into Ravenclaw.

And since they are special and don't like following rules - they have Ravens as pets instead of Owls. c:

A young, Slytherin Gilderoy Lockhart (series - changed from Ravenclaw).

Circumstances change, but not much differs between the boy and the man.

He may not be the most skilled wizard, but the boy has a notion that his talent for memory charms will come in handy. The man has, most spectacularly, proven himself right.

"...to achieve their ends."

The boy dreams of fortune, fame, and celebrity. The man has exceeded his boyhood dreams. He even won Witch Weekly's Most Charming Smile Award - five times! Such lofty heights! Now he just has to stay there. By any means.

I decided to switch Luna Lovegood to Gryffindor. I always felt if she had been placed in any other house, it would've been Gryffindor. She was a wonderfully brave person in situations that would make others run the other way and valued honesty in people as she showed in her utter faith in Harry when he said Voldemort had returned.

Megan/Hufflepuff

I think Neville was brave but he was also very sweet, loyal and would always be fair. He would have made better friends with Luna Lovegood i am sure of it!
