HA Challenge #4 - Detention

You should all be so ashamed of yourselves! No matter, now it's time for your punishment! You will be going into the Forbidden Forest with Professor Sparks, to help her with a task. She has to clear out a large nest of garden gnomes that have taken up residence among an expanse of dirigible plums, located in a clearing in the center of the forest!
This week's theme is Detention. (no one has actually lost any house points, this is just for the challenge.)
[size=12pt] Some rules for this challenge: 1.) No uniforms needed, you wouldn't want them to get all dirty, would you? 2.) Bonus points will be awarded for thinking this challenge through very well and dressing extra appropriately. 3.)Please add your name/character name and house to the end of your post. If I have to look it up, you won't be awarded points- sorry!Each member may only submit one avatar, and each avatar to successfully adhere to the challenge rules and theme shall be awarded 10 House Points!

Cardamom, Sixth Year Hufflepuff
Since she helps her Nan with degnoming every summer in the Netherlands, Cardamom is ready to go with a comfortable outfit she doesn't mind getting dirt on, a hat to keep the sun off her neck, gardening gloves, garlic earrings to lure gnomes out from their hidey holes, a mask (essential, as those potato-y buggers kick up so much dirt and filth during the struggle, no one wants to taste that), and a pair of hardwood clogs. The clogs are a gift from her Nan, as Dutch wizards still favor the wooden shoe when puttering around their tulips. These are magically enhanced to repel dirt and bugs and keep your feet feeling minty fresh and cool!

Detention on a Sunday morning, well it would be more fun if I could just go and explore the forest but Professor Sparks might notice…

Detention on a sunday was the worst thing she thought could have happened to her, but a detention in the forbidden forest was even worse. Digging through the forest to find the garden gnomes made her dirty and the spiders inside the forest were just creepy. The gnomes however were kinda cute.

When Emma was told that she would need work clothes rather than her robes for her detention, she was ready. She had work clothes from when she had been needed to help bring in the harvest when her family lived in Ghana and Uganda--light clothes to keep her from collapsing from heat, a head scarf to keep her cool and the hair out of her face, sandals to protect her from sharp rocks. And she didn't mind getting dirty no that she knew there would be a bath at hand when she was finished. She felt suffciently prepared... the only problem is that no one warned Emma the gnomes bite. OUCH!

Chrystle dressed extra carefully. She'd even put her hair back. Having heard tales of the forbidden forest, and knowing it to be a bit cooler than the world around it, she wore long pants and long sleeves. With thick boots as well. She also wore this because the gnomes at her godparent's house always bit her something terrible and even if it was beneficial, she still didn't like the way it felt. She wore gloves for that very same reason. She also heard the forbidden forest housed plenty of rare plants and substances that can be used for difficult potions. She'd planned to ask the professor if she could keep something if she'd found it. For that she brought a pouch at her waist. Although it wasn't empty. It had a bit of parchment and a pen. She'd brought Bocci, the owl along in case she got into any danger in the forest. She'd be able to send a message. Mostly she was just thankful she'd remembered to bring a shovel. She did NOT want to reach into anything by hand. A nasty bite from a gnome could hurt even through the gloves if unexpected.

Literature/Amanda - Ravenclaw
Amanda is unhappy that she has to do detention, but she is prepared. Her wand is in her back pocket, and she brought a book (surprise surprise!) that has a chapter on the proper removal of gnomes. Just in case!

Thankfully Tate's mom had insisted that he pack some scruffy clothes in his trunk as she knew it would be likely that he'd have to spend a few detentions in the Forbidden Forest!
OOh! Ginny told me how to get rid of those pesky garden gnomes, as I will demonstrate on this little charamber that I caught... they too are abundant in this area of the forest... Grab 'em like so, by the feet. Take care, this fella won't, but the gnomes: they bite and scratch! You whip them around in a circular fashion (above your head) so they get a little dizzy and disoriented, and then let go. It doesn't hurt them at all, but it sends them packing.

She thought about her hair and tried to change it. After, she looked in a mirror and was happy. She got the length right and her hair color was close to what she was thinking. She found other stuff in there to take, closed it and walked out to Professor Sparks to go to the forbidden forest to help out.

Beth couldn't believe her luck. Detention? In the Forbidden Forest? Who knows what dangerous creatures lived inside. What if she died out there? Professor Sparks wouldn't have given her detention in the forest if it was too dangerous, right? At least Beth came prepared, having brought her de-gnoming gloves from home. She also brought along her backpack filled with parchment and quills (who knows what interesting things she would find in the forest), a battery-powered flashlight (she wasn't sure if she could use her wand), goggles, a shovel, some rope (so she could just lasso away the gnomes), a pocket watch and a book about gnomes (she could always just whack the gnomes with her book).

Silver wasent best pleased that she had detention, there were better ways of spending her day then de-gnoming in the forbidden forest, with a sigh she put on her clothes that she didnt mind getting dirty and walked to join the Professor
