Hello all! 🦋
I know that there were a couple of art cults in the past. I used to be in one and it was a lot of fun! However, they no longer seem to be present.
I would like to start up a brand new art cult, but I would like to see if others would be interested in such a cult. Also, it would be wonderful if I could get some help in forming a new cult. Below, I have listed some possible ideas and features that our art cult could implement.
Art Cult Ideas:
♥ Open to all artistic levels (from beginners to professionals) ♥ Open to a variety of art mediums and styles (e.g. traditional art, digital art, CWs, profiles/graphics, etc.) ♥ An application process (mostly so we can see how enthusiastic/passionate and active our potential members are about art and the cult) ♥ "Draw and Chat!" (an off-site private chat area where we can chat while working on art or just for fun!) ♥ Off-site forums/ our own cult site (might be able to include the chat box here -- thinking about using wix to create the site?) ♥ Emphasis on constructive, friendly critiques and helping artists improve ♥ A cute mascot! ♥ Art contests ❤️ Our own ping group and chat ping group ♥ A point system that rewards activity. These points can be used on prizes (subeta items + possible artwork?) ♥ Exclusive CWs available for cult members ❤️ Accepts multi-cult members (as long as there is no direct conflict of interest) ❤️ Our own sketchbook threads (suggested by ) ❤️ Art exchange event (suggested by ) ❤️ Tutorial section (suggested by ) ❤️ Separate beginner section section )

These are just ideas and they are not necessarily set in stone. If there is enough interest in forming the cult, I am definitely looking for some more ideas and suggestions that would contribute to the creation of our cult.
Let me know if you would be interested in helping form the cult or if you'd be interested in joining when the cult is more polished. :)

I would be pretty interested in joining :D Sounds good!
Unfortunately I'm not active enough on Subeta to consider joining, but I will say this: Avarde's best features were the sketchbooks and the IRC chat. Whenever you set up a forum just put one section up for sketchbooks—WIPs, doodles, etc—where people can comment and critique on each other's work. If you want an example check out this site! Also, I know people tend to look at applications as snooty, but honestly all they did was keep the people who seemed to either not care about the cult or were generally unpleasant out.
I wish you the best of luck with getting this up and running!
Ooh I'm interested! What about some sort of secret Santa event but with art exchanges instead? Like all members list characters they'd like art of then everyone is assigned someone to make art for and no one knows who they'll receive art from??
I dunno! I'll think of more things 😊 I really like the idea of draw and chat!
this sounds interesting! I'd love to join once it opens up Also, I like the name Reverie )b
I might be interested.

Yes please! I'd be super interested in joining c:
If this is to be a thing I would be highly interested in joining. :D
- I LOVE the idea of an art cult! However, I'm not sure the frequency of activity you're thinking of. Depending on that and on how accepting the cult would be with absolute beginners, then I would most likely join!
For the forums, have a separate section for different skill levels. I know I would be intimidated having my crap side by side to art that is amazing. And a section for tips on how to draw certain things (like human hands D:) would be helpful.
I would be really interested in joining if this existed! Is there annything I could (try) to helo with?
Thank you guys so much for your interest and your feedback! :D I was not expecting this large of a response so this was a very nice surprise! I have added all of you to the interested user list and I actually think there's enough interest to get the ball rolling now. :)
I have been busy making a website (using Wix) for the cult. I'm going with the name, Reverie, for now, but suggestions are welcome! I have set up a forum using proboards which I can embed to the website. And I am thinking of using mibbit for the chat, which I can also add as a widget on the site. But, as always, suggestions for different applications are very much welcome! I will show some sneak peaks of what I have so far soon.
If anyone is interested in being an admin, please let me know!
I remember you! :D You were actually one of my favorite culties from Aesthetic (yeah, it has been a while ... ) and I actually think we did a few collabs together, haha (I was Everest back then, btw. I went poof for a little bit). :P It's nice to know that you still play Subeta! Thank you for your feedback and your suggestions. I will definitely implement all of those suggestions. It would be nice to have you in this cult but I definitely understand being busy. Best of luck to you too!
@ Ren That's a good idea! I listed that idea under the suggestions heading. :)
@ Star_Cherry What if activity were to be rewarded but not a strict requirement? I completely understand being busy with other things in life and would not want to kick anyone out because of that. :) And, I really would like this cult to be very accepting of beginners and to be a place about learning and inspiration.
The only problem I see with having multiple sections for different skill levels is that it might be difficult for someone (or others) to gauge their own skill as it's very subjective. Also, some people might not like to label their artwork as one way or another and it could have the potential to cause conflict (e.g. someone saying, "this doesn't belong in the advance section"). Perhaps, just a separate beginner's section would work though. I really do like your idea for a tutorial section! I will list both of these under the suggestions heading in the OP. :)

Scratches head, thinking about something I have a question. What kind of artists is this for? Like. You say it is an ART cult, but I ONLY see stuff about illustration listed here. Is this illustration only? Or is it for any art (writing, crafting, photography, sculpture, etc)? If it is an art cult and not just an illustration cult, will there be events for all artists? Like, the gift event. Would an artist be able to exchange a poem for a painting? Or are the different types of art going to be separated?

- Oh, having rewards for participating and not being kicked out for having a busy life is very considerate of you. I like the idea!
Yeah, I can see how labeling skill levels can be an issue now. Just a beginner's section is good... kind of like a place to get your feet wet.
I don't think I could be active enough to be an admin. :/
I would be interested in joining.
And I also agree that having labels or sections that try to place an artist in a certain skill level could have a lot more negative consequences than positive ones. If you want to have sections it would be cool to have something for the illustrators/graphic designers, the knitters/sewers/cosplayers, the musically inclined, the writers/poets, graphic designers, animators, and film/photography. But that would be only if one were so inclined. Tutorials are always a plus, as are potential live streams.
A neat topic that I always like to see is work areas or supplies used. Or a section dedicated to books/references/stock that individuals have found useful.
