I think it would be really helpful and proactive if the Subeta staff were to announce major bugs in the news so that all users were aware of certain problems. I'm talking about bugs that truly impact how people use the site.

For example, did you know that NPC shops are not showing up in shop search results? Click here for the thread. I didn't until I happened to stumble across the topic because I was posting something else. For anyone doing quests, this can be an enormous inconvenience.

Those are the kinds of bugs I am talking about. The bugs that affect things people do on the site. I know some people who are shop searching the items and searching the NPC shops as well. Not the efficient way of doing quests that I know the staff was looking for.

More minor bugs, like the fact that emoji icons don't work in the forum, could be compiled in one thread that users could check out if they wanted to. I'm not listing it as a major bug because it doesn't really affect how anyone uses the site, it's more of an annoyance.

What are everyone else's thoughts?

I don't really think I'd like to be bombarded with news posts about bugs that may or may not affect me personally :L I know the new categories have made the Problems & Bugs forum a mess, but if you're worried about something, it's there. And siteupdate is usually pinged when the major bugs are fixed (which doesn't really alert people to them or anything, but it's something).

I definitely don't approve of one thread listing the minor bugs and things because those threads (that usually pop up during events and things, for related bugs) just aren't maintained well. I doubt actual staff would keep them updated any better, and and have enough on their plate already (which is probably why the list threads aren't kept up to date as is).

Totally agree with OP here.

If anything, the siteupdate tag should be used by staff to not only announce updates, but acknowledge problems, that they're trying to fix it and encourage users to continue to report changes and whether or not the issues have been fixed.

Taking screenshots is usually the best way to report a glitch or bug.

Maybe a page at the ticket center/about subeta/forum that will list all the confirmed and worked-on bugs?

A news post seems a little bit out of place..

They probably won't do this because there are so many bugs that effect the site.

I agree. The NPC shop bug should be in the news as people might be missing out on quests because they don't like the user shop prices and don't know about the NPC shops.

I think that announcing when a bug has been confirmed by staff would be great. "This bug has been happening for days but nothing's been done or acknowledged so I made another thread to report it." Imagine how many repeat bug threads wouldn't be made... The glory...

I agree that pretty serious bugs that affect a lot of people like NPC shops not appearing on the shop search should definitely be announced. Things like missing emojis though, nah.

In theory, they should already be doing this. For example, there's a thread for forum-related bugs with a list of all reported bugs... but it hasn't been checked in a while and seems to have been abandoned. And we all know the wardrobe and achievements are full of bugs, but development seems to have stopped there. They could acknowledge the bugs, but that doesn't mean they're going to do anything about them.

One thing I would really like them to acknowledge is the status site, which has been broken for a couple weeks now. It was never really good at what it was meant to do, but now it's completely useless:

I think they should as well. But I agree, only with Major bugs. Not tiny things. I had no idea Main shops were not showing in Search shop either.. :/

Thiissssss. Having it not only be acknowledged by the staff but also letting us unaware users know that there is a problem? Hell yes.

I would appreciate this a lot -- it's hard to find threads in P&B sometimes, partially because of what the thread is named and partially because of all the subcategorization that's happened there, and sometimes those threads go on for weeks without anyone stopping by to say "we know, and we're working on it". The only problems I can really see are that the news feed would end up being nothing but bugs and that it would be hard to judge what counts as newsworthy and what doesn't.

Ugh, the "status" site has been one of the biggest jokes that I've seen in a long time. It's been utterly useless. And it would be nice if the correct forums could be updated accordingly, but I think that hasn't been done because there's too much to do and too little staff to do it. Then again, that's probably why bugs take so long to be fixed too.

It would be fantastic if there was one page, like the ticket page or help page that was updated with the siteupdate ping group. I feel like the siteupdate ping group is nice, but it's all after-the-fact. It would be really nice to be informed about things upfront and as they are ongoing. This would probably help the P&B forum somewhat, as would the supposed forum search function that will happen some time in the future.

I'd love to see bug info reach a wider audience - I've seen people asking about the store bug in at least six different threads - but I feel as though there'd need to be some process changes on a staff level to make it work properly.

When staff still post in obscure out of the way threads or in news comments and expect that info to magically reach the entire userbase, that's a problem with how information is transmitted.

Point being, I'd love to see a # bugupdate ping thread in someplace like Site Updates that's used like the # siteupdate ping.

Then in situations like this, when the site is affected for days with a site-wide bug, at least we'd all be aware that info has been passed up the line to whoever needs to hear about it.

I'm not sure the news would be the best place for this, as some people already mentioned, but I'd love to have a # bugupdate group or even see the # siteupdate one be used for this. We need better communication about current bugs, that's for sure.

I really, really like this idea of a "bugupdate" ping group! I think that's probably the best answer to this!

The issue with this is what do you classify as a major bug? Questers & Restockers think the main shops not being listed in search is a bug, where as wardrobe fanatics might not. So Who decides what is a major bug? And how do you sort out which ones to make news posts about?

Also - The status page - LOL.
