I didn't want to make this thread because I'm not really that bothered, but I would like to hear from staff who seem to be avoiding the news comments (and with good reason tbh, it's a clusterfuck).
I'm not bothered by the fact that CWs were deleted. Like was mentioned in the news comments, people quit or are frozen all the time, and their CWs rot on their accounts for eternity. I'm sure there's someone out there who has manually deleted a CW before, for one reason or another. What bothers me is that tons of items were deleted without a clear warning. The news post was Jeremy saying "I need to clear out my stock, so everything is on sale until Monday" and apparently users were supposed to infer that "I need to clear out my shop" also meant "Everything left by Monday will be deleted, including items pawned during the sale and even in the last 24 hours." Several people have said they wouldn't have pawned certain items had they known they were going to be deleted a few days (or even a few hours) later.
There were items in the pawn shop that I had been eyeing for a long, long time for a specific TC. I remembered them during the sale and intended to make up my mind once and for all whether I wanted them or not. I know it's on me for forgetting about them. The thing is, had I known from the start that they were going to get deleted, I would have bought them regardless as soon as I remembered they were in there (I mean, they were practically pawn price anyway, I could have just about made my money back on them if I did change my mind later).
tl;dr version: QQ we didn't have a clear warning that shit was going to be deleted.
[edit] It would also be nice to have confirmation whether these items were actually deleted or not, or if there's any possibility of something being done with them other than having them wiped from the site.
So much this. It doesn't personally impact me, but I know it impacts a lot of other users. Items sitting there for a long time may have been a goal for users and not something obtainable regardless of sale pricing. Many other items would have been purchased if people knew that the items were going to straight up disappear. It is not okay.
Yeah, the warning could have been clearer.
The THESE ITEMS WERE BOUGHT WITH REAL MONEY YOU CAN'T JUST GO AND DELETE THEM argument is silly, though.

I completely agree. People paid money (or sP) to get the item onsite. If the item was in the Pawn Shop then Subeta paid the user money and now owns it.
Still think it was an idiotic move to clear the entire Pawn Shop. I can't imagine the extra sells that would have happened if people had been told Everything Is Going Bye.
I personally really don't like the "if you didnt buy it in the X months it was sitting there, what makes you think you'd buy it now or soon or by X date" sentiment.
it's like if Chic-fil-A said they'd close down forever in a week. A lot of people, whether they've had it before or not, would go out of their way to get some, knowing in the future no option will be available.
Without deadlines, people tend to wait until the last minute thinking "ehh, why spend X csc on pawn shop item now (since it'll still be there later) when i can spend it on Y item (which is on sale or is about to taken out or rotation or is something i need now).
I mean, who fucking did their homework right after being assigned? People procrastinate and wait if they can.
so, essentially, my issue is with not stating a deadline.
I don't care that the items were deleted. But I do believe the original news post could have, and should have, been clearer, and that, yeah, a lot more of the CWs would have been bought had people known. I mean I don't see how anyone could've known, considering what the original news post actually said, that things were going to be deleted, so people had every reason to believe that they'd still have time after the sale to buy whatever they were planning to buy.
I agree - a clearer warning would have been nice. I actually assumed it would clear based on how many pages of cws it had, but just because I assumed doesn't mean others did. A clearer warning would have meant more sales, so yeah, fail on that part.
Also, call me weird, but I think it's worse if the item gets pawned and sits there for weeks, if not months, on end rather than it getting deleted. By rotting in the pawn shop, it's essentially devaluing all the other copies on site, which I think is worse than it being deleted. I feel like if people really cared about their cws they would have bought them out the moment they saw the cw in the pawn shop instead of letting it rot there, especially during a 35% sale. 35% off, wow! It isn't going to get any better than that nowadays. If not bought then, then when?
Exactly, that's what I don't get about it! I think Subeta could have sold a lot more CSC if they had been clear about it. (And I'm another person not directly affected, since I rarely buy CWs and there wasn't anything in the pawn shop I wanted.)
I'm also guessing that there would have been more sales if we could have sorted the CWs by layer. I had a look and gave up because I couldn't face wading through pages and pages full of wigs.
I'm not hugely bothered that they were deleted, although I am very bothered by the lack of clarity. There should have been a much clearer warning that they would have been deleted.
There has been a sale in the Pawn Shop before; at the end of that sale, no CW's were deleted. Given the precedent it seems reasonable that people expected CW's to stay in the store after the sale was over. Also, the news post was written by an NPC and NPC's are notoriously unreliable narrators. An admin-issued news post would have been better.
Yes, stuff had been in there for a long time, but there were also items that were in there for probably only an hour or two. That sucks.
I think there should have been a clear, non-NPC addendum to the news post that said "Unlike the last Pawn Shop Sale, we will be clearing the pawn shop at X time".
Had they done so, people would have absolutely planned better and Subeta would have done very well indeed. Lost opportunity there.
We are all still assuming they were deleted.
Dude, I just want to know if they were deleted.
Then I'll throw my hissy fit because:
Have to agree that the original post probably should have said "THINGS WILL BE DELETED AFTER THE SALE" because the original wording could have also implied that the Pawn Shop was trying to sell as much stuff as possible, but not necessarily wipe the entire section.
(Part of me is also like "woah, that's messed up!" that they deleted all these items that someone drew and paid money for, but maybe that's because I only own like two CWs and find it mind-boggling to destroy that kind of investment, lol.)
Yeah, I agree. It's a bit disheartening, because I had also been eyeing things in the Pawnshop, but didn't have the CSC at the time, and as said, I was procrastinating hardcore. The warning should have been clearer, indeed.
I'ma quote myself from the news post in regards to this, because I think I feel exactly the same about it now.
I'd have much rather seen literally unwanted CWs deleted/stored for a period of time BEFORE the sale (or account bound for a period of time to prevent re-pawning for a profit) to prevent potentially wanted CWs from being deleted.
It makes me sad to know there were some that were only in there for an hour or less before they were deleted ;__;
Case in point: Twinkies. :P

If the items really were deleted from the site, then I would agree with everyone else that they should have given a better warning.
Not to mention as someone else mentioned, maybe some users were saving up to eventually get a CW. (Not everyone can afford to pay real cash and get them right away.)
♥ [flower=owl] ♥
Yeah its been sort of strange waiting to hear back at this point.....
Haven't read all the news comments, so idk if this was mentioned...
Sp sink opportunity over here. :P Create a cw raffle for sp. Like the potion lottery. But with a cw.
Obviously a good chunk were sitting there rotting for csc for a long time. So the next logical step would be sp. Since no one wanted to dish out a big chunk of csc, they could dish out, by comparison, a much smaller fraction of sp for a chance to win it.
