At this point, I just want to know what happened with them. I'm sure Jeremy is going to turn into Smaug if he kept everything in a secret basement.
Yer a wizard, Jeremy.
To be honest I found the news post quite clear. It gave me the feeling they would remove all the CW's in Pawn Shop.

I am one of those wanting to know -specifically- what happened to the items. No confirmation? No explanation? Just gone is sketchy. What could be done? I don't have a great idea. I don't like the idea of locking or unretiring items after x months would help because some of the art is just ... Bad. And waiting will not make bad art better. Allowing items to be revamped after x months or 1 year may be a better alternative. nnI agree though. I saw something like16 pages to go through and just moped the hell out. I don't keep up on CWs so of course the few on my WL weren't there but Fuck if I was going to go through 16 pages to look at each item and hover to decide. That was I am sure a hindrance to others as well. Sorting by layers or date released or something would help. nnShort version what happened, staff?
collecting I was not at all under the impression that the items would be deleted. I read it as they were just trying to get some items gone by lowering the price. There were a handful of wishlist items in there that have been for a while but I couldn't afford the csc to get anything at the time. I suppose it wouldn't be as bad if all CWs were unlimited but for most there is a specific amount which means that's one, two or maybe even five less of that item on site. Because of the real money involved CWs should not be deleted, period. ((While we're on the subject of CWs I'm still waiting to hear what happened to the ones from the cash shop by users that were no longer on site or even frozen when they made CW shops... it's like they don't give thought to any of it.))
Yup, the items were deleted. Right now we have a backup and are looking at what we said in the news post and determining how we can be more clear in the future. Obviously we took a "we'd rather make this fun and about this character" and didn't see that it wasn't crystal clear that we'd be removing the items.
So, we've got the backup and we're internally discussing if we should bring them back for another weekend and say "really this time they are going to get deleted", or what. :)
Unfortunately the majority of the items in the CW pawn shop had hit their low price months ago which means we didn't have a huge anticipation of them selling out entirely even though we said we were going to clear it, and that many items makes the shop confusing and hard to navigate for what you want (even if we split it up by category). RE: Suggestions for putting them up for sP is something we don't like to muddle up.

Do you really expect people to spend more CSC on items that were sitting there at 300 CSC each for month and getting a higher price in the sale because no staffmember was smart enough to DISBALE PAWNING before even starting the sale?
If I had know some of my WL CWs would be deleted I probably would have bought them. But only if I had seen the announcement on the right day and not hours later when the price was fixed. With the current "exchange rate" 25 CSC are quite a lot.
I re-read the news post and I agree it doesn't seem like it means "removing the items" at all. I took it more as an incentive for people to try to clear the shop by buying, and so most things would be bought, so that Jeremy just has a smaller stock. Not hey we're just gonna flat-out delete what doesn't get bought.
Yeah he says he's clearing his shop but it's so cluttered with random lore and something about Esmeralda, probably most people didn't see that part, and just saw OMG SALE.
It's fine and fun to do posts like that in character, but I think at the bottom of the post it should have a TL;DR version. That way people who like interacting with the NPC and lore can read what Jeremy had to say and those that don't really care can be just like "get to the point- what does this really mean?" Like those darn pirate posts around keel-hauliday which go on and on forever to say the most simple things, which a staff member probably had to translate in the comments section anyway.
Example of how it could be more clear:
What ticked me off more than the items that were sitting there for months were the items that were dropped into the pawn during the sale. There were items that were only in there for 10 minutes before the shop was cleared. Hell, there was a dress in there that literally just got dropped that I was contemplating grabbing and I /know/ someone else would have nabbed it if I hadn't...but we didn't get that chance. I highly doubt people would have put more items into the Pawn Shop on that last day if they knew that in a few hours, those items would get deleted.

I agree with all of this. I did enough raging in the new comments, but I'm going to state again, that this was an incredibly poorly thought out choice and that the warning was NOT clear at all that the items would be deleted. In the future, for things like these, there NEEDS to be clarification. Otherwise, this will happen again, where you have a news comment thread FILLED with angry users and no response from any staff member explaining whether or not the items were actually deleted.
I personally don't like the Pawn Shop, but I will buy from it when items have gone down in price and I have csc. A lot of people do. So just outright deleting items without proper warning, is going to make A LOT of people angry, as you can see. I really hope that something has been learned from this experience.
Kind of adding on to 's post, I do have to wonder why everything had to be deleted including the items added there just a few hours beforehand, instead of just x amount of items that had been in there for the longest time...
I can understand wanting to get rid of the old items that had been rotting in there for months at a time and had completely devalued, but newer items that some people didn't even get a chance to see/buy before they got deleted? I dunno, it seems kind of... crummy?
I'm sure others have brought this point up before, but I think that's what bothered me the most about the whole ordeal... :c

Yeah, I have to say that the one thing that doesn't make any sense about this and was handled SO poorly was that you could 1. continue pawning, and 2. ALL items got deleted, not just the ones that had been at the lowest price point for months. Those are what should have been deleted (with clearer news posts please) and not the ones that were still selling for "full price".
I'm fine with a regular clearing of the CW's, let's just make sure it's only the really old and rotting ones in the future and with ample warning and clear communication.
Going to echo a few others and say that if I knew they were going to be straight up deleted, I would have tried to make room in the budget for some CSC (didn't have much of anything left after Mother's Day to buy any, but I probably could have spared at least $5 if I knew I needed to rescue a few wishlist items sitting in there. xD ) to buy the wishlist items that were in there. I thought the sale was just a way to try and move some of the older items in there.
But I can see how it was making it hard to navigate a bit, so I get the reasoning behind it at least.

I guess if there was one thing I would change about the clearing though, it would be maybe clear items that have sat for longer than X days?
I dunno, the clearing didn't bother me either way.
