Into, and Hopefully Through, the Mists
You should have known. Local lore claims that magic emerges when the twin crescents align. Of course, local lore also says you're supposed to hide inside with your doors locked and bolted, but that's never been your style. There's nothing better than a midnight walk in the mists, right? What could possibly happen to a bold adventurer like yourself that you couldn't handle?
However, you hardly expected to meet this creature near the local tavern. He? She? It? Looks more like she-it, but it's hard to tell. Faerie, though. Definitely faerie, and had a rough time getting here from the smudges and tears on the clothing.
As you stare in surprise and curiosity, the creature bows and proceeds in a rasping hoarse voice:
The creature almost collapses at the end of this, and you help take the messenger into the tavern for food and rest. Is this some kind of joke? The rising of the Unseelie Court? You thought that was just faerie lore, but what if all you've heard is real? After all, the thing now downing beer and gobbling stew is carrying a wizarding staff and an elven traveling lantern.
You've never even hear of the Borderlands, but you can't deny the news. In your heart, you sense this all to be true. Time to call the others and prepare.
Once again, the Squirrel needs you, and a hero's work is never done!
(OOC: This is an avatar and RP introduction contest for both modes. You will only be scored on the participation of each member. Since we have many new folks, you have two full weeks to work with each other on a shared RP introducing your characters and talking about your preparations before boarding the Frenchman. You will need to dress your character. Your captain must post your HAs as a group, and also the RP, which must be posted on THIS thread. Questions and comments welcome, as per usual.
Chandie Teche looks on with excitement while absently petting her chow mixed pups, yet some trepidation is obviously apparent in her distraction.
"Are we ready.. am I?"
She runs to grab her group.
(( changing this to a RP post.. ))
Yes, for both modes this time, as there's plenty of time for everyone on this one.

, are we going to just work on Terrenaanimula's thread, or are we to go over to the Lodge?
I don't think anyone other then a legend has access to where Terrena put the thread it is in the special silver legends ping area...so we should be safe to work there. I haven't even read what is required of us yet. Waiting til I get home later on. I just saw the cookies.

Jeice and Torchy were enjoying a lazy day by Veta lake, enjoying the sunny day when the message arrived from Laurie. "Uh oh, looks like our day at the beach has to be cut short," she murmured, scanning the letter. "Now now," she chuckled as Torchy gave a low growl, "looks like we're needed, time to rejoin the Angels for a new adventure!" At that, Torchy gave an excited squeal and flapped his wings, fairly bouncing as he grabbed up items with his mouth, helping Jeice pack up their things...well, sort of, if you count tossing things around within a 10 foot radius of the bag helping.

"Lady Talliessa," a voice called from the door. There was a short knock, followed by silence. A messenger, then. Talliessa sighed, setting her quill down upon the small wooden desk. She rose from her chair, smoothing her dress, and made her way across the room.
"How may I help you?" she queried, opening the door to find a young elven man in a silver robe, holding an envelope in his hands. The man started slightly and bowed his head.
"M'lady, a letter came for you, not an hour past." He handed her the envelope, before bowing again and taking his leave. Talliessa retreated back into her room, and shut the door. Moving to seat herself upon her mattress, she inspected it closely. The parchment was worn, and it had the scent of magic upon it. It was plain, but it was written in a script that she recognized. She smiled, and opened the letter immediately.
"Dear Talli,
We have been summoned once again, as Protectors of the Realm, to assist the Wayward Squirrel. Please meet us, before night falls on the 22nd of May, at the Crossroads. At the stroke of midnight, Lucien will arrive with the Floating Frenchman, and we will be off.
See you soon,
Laurie"
"Well then," she murmured, "I'd better start packing, I suppose." She stood, letting the letter fall to the bed. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Looking to the room adjoined with hers, she whistled, and moments later, a large black wolf poked its head through the threshold. "Come Moriel, we're going on another adventure!" The wolf barked in understand and its tail began to wag. It bounded into the room and toward its master. Talliessa lowered herself to the ground, sitting upon her knees, and the wolf named Moriel trotted over and licked her face. Chuckling, she pat the wolf on the head, stood up, and began her preparations for the journey.
Haneway gestures to her fellow Whovians "We should assemble at the SubetaLodge (not far from the Wayward Squirrel, and in no way a competitor) to discuss preparations for this serious turn of events. See you there!"
Jenna hears the news upon her return from a mini getaway with Leaf. it's time to gather together and prepare for our new adventure!
After a long night of entertaining at Squirrely's and an even longer night dallying in bed with an enthusiastic Squirrely, Atrueheart is sleeping deeply among the tangled sheets when she is rudely awakened by her monkey jumping up and down on the bed, chattering excitedly. "Mmmmmmf! Wha...?" Grabbing the monkey and prying the note from it's fingers, Atrueheart rubs her blurry eyes and then reads the note from Laurie. All tiredness drops from her body as she jumps up and begins to rush around the room, throwing things in her bag. Of course Jinx is no help at all, jumping around the room and screeching in excitement. Squirrely walks in with some hot cocoa into the scene of bedlam and gets hit in the face by a flying piece of "unmentionables". Grinning widely, he pulls the dainty piece of lace from his face and tucks it into a pocket for later examination. "I thought to find ye sound asleep after last nights... ummmm.. exertions and here ye are givin' yer best imitation of a whirling dervish!" Squirrely chuckles. "What's got you all in a tizzy my girl?" Squirrely sits on the rumpled bed, dodging flying clothes, ogling Atrueheart rushing around in nothing but a night shift. Reaching out he grabs True by the waist and settles her in his lap. Breathing heavily from her exertions, Atrueheart relaxes for a second and shows him the note from Laurie. "Ahhhh... so it's another adventure ye be going on is it?" he murmurs in her ear as his paw slides over her silk clad stomach. Atrueheart grabs his paw and with a swift kiss jumps off his lap. "There'll be none of that now sweetie!" Atrueheart admonishes. "You know I must pack as my Fallen Angels need me!" Picking up a lute and a fiddle she asks Squirrely "Which one travels best? ...and should I take the green silk or the black? Do you think there will be a lot of meanies on this one???" Not giving Squirrely an opportunity to answer, Atrueheart continues to whirl around the room sorting and shoving things in a bag. As Atrueheart runs by him for the hundredth time Squirrely reaches out and grabs her again and throws her on the disheveled bed, covering her so she can't get back up. Wiggling and giggling Atrueheart struggles but she is no match for Squirrely and truth be told she is right where she wants to be anyway! Stroking a wayward lock of hair behind Atruehearts ear, Squirrely murmurs "Ah lass... ye must calm down. Ye see in the note ye don't have to be anywhere until the 22nd!" Squirrely slides a paw down her side as Atrueheart ceases to struggle to get up. "Well I must do something to while away the time before I must go!" she whispers softly. Squirrely chuckles wickedly. "Oh I have a few ideas about that my girl!" and proceeds to make his "point". Outside the door the maids rush around readying the rooms for the upcoming nights guests. Smiling at each other as the soft murmurs and giggles come out of Ms Atrueheart's bedroom.

A lot had changed for Laurie since she first stepped inside the Wayward Squirrel. Â She and Hope, her lifelong companion and beloved bear cub, enjoyed being gopher for the Fallen Angels so much she silently wished it hadn't come to an end. Â Not that she wasn't happy to get back into her normal routine of researching local histories, she loved research, but now.. well it just wasn't the same. Â
Shortly after returning home, she decided to do something more outside the box and set out on foot to find and record the myths and legends of the Tehb and Ji-Meneb people. Â While this style of research filled part of the void she felt inside - but both she and Hope missed the thrill of the adventures they had been part of something terrible. Â Still it was better than nothing. Â The two of them spent their days wandering around Darkside and Shadowglen and as fascinating as this unorthodox style of research was, she would drop whatever they were doing to eagerly reply every time a note from her fellow Angels arrived. Â
It was two, maybe three months after they had said their goodbyes when True mentioned that the Angels would need a warrior's assistance should another adventure unfold and both she and Jeice had made it clear that adventures ALWAYS unfold for the protectors of the Wayward Squirrel. Â Laurie was a bit reluctant about trying to fulfill such a vital role should they need her, she had little to no knowledge as to what being a warrior might require but to be back with the Angels - she was willing to risk it. Â From that moment on instead of researching local history, she dove into finding out everything she could about the area's most feared and respected warriors both in books and in person, absorbing every little tidbit available. Â She wanted to know everything; preparing, fighting, handling both victory and defeat, taking notes of everything they were willing to share with her. Â Some of the inhabitants she spoke to preferred visual demonstration over oral presentation. Â Encounters like these always left her flat on her butt with bumps, lumps and bruises which she didn't enjoy nearly as much as she did taking notes but the things she learned from them would surely come in handy if another adventure came to be.
And now it seems that time has come. Â She still wasn't sure what to think of the odd looking creature who had asked that the protectors be summoned but one thing she did know - the Fallen Angels would be ready to face whatever challenges came their way. Â Hardly able to maintain a calm demeanor, she nudged Hope gently and the two of them quietly took their leave so she could get word to the rest of the group without disrupting the creature who was obviously famished and in need of some much needed food and rest (and a shower, lawd, someone please make sure a shower is included.. that poor thing is a mess!)
The instant she was back in her quarters, she grabbed a pen and several sheets of parchment. Â Writing as quickly as she could, she sent word across the lands to the rest of her team before scrambling to pack everything she could think of that the two of them might need, tripping over the bouncing bear cub several times who was almost as excited as she at the thought of going on a new adventure.
