i've always hated cilantro with a passion. i find that even the slightest amount of it ruins any dish it's in. however, i just found out that apparently this aversion is genetic. (source) so my question to you guys is, do you love or hate this nasty ass herb?
Cilantro tastes like soap to me. :I I can't eat it.

Ok so I've always wondered what 'cilantro' is and never looked it up! And now I finally know!
I like coriander! It's great in soup (carrot and coriander is the best combo!) but it's quite a fragrant taste, so I get why people wouldn't like it. I literally eat almost everything though!
I read the linked source after I typed my post, and it was interesting that described it as tasting like soap, and I taste it as 'fragrant' haha, which matches the source pretty well.
I really like cilantro but it has to the right amount for what I'm eating. Esp on tacos (Mexican style). I grew up in a house that only had salt, so when my (former) best friend who is Puerto Rican introduced me to cilantro and other spices.
I love salsa that has a lot of cilantro in it. Usually you only get that in salsas made in Mexican restaurants though. I made salsa once and found out that cutting cilantro makes my eyes water just like onions though! I bought fresh and cut it up and phew, it was pungent!
Cilantro doesn't have any kind of a strong taste to me so I don't have any feelings about it. I guess maybe it tastes like grass...or you know, what I imagine grass tastes like shifty eyes I just like cilantro in my food cause it makes it prettier? xD
Uh, I don't have any strong feelings about it personally.
I love it! Yay genetics, I guess :)

I hate cilantro. It has a weird almost bitter flavor.
I'm not a fan of it, although I can tolerate very small amounts in my food. Generally if I have the option, i'll tell them to make it without.
HATE IT. Although it doesn't taste like soap, it just tastes like...cilantro lol. I dunno how else to describe it other than it's the only thing you can taste as it masks all the other flavors. It's like the loud obnoxious drunk guy at a party trying to get all the attention
Absolutely in LOVE. I will gladly eat ALL your guys' cilantro.
I'm not even sure how this started. I think it might be because it comes in pho so, I just ate it without really thinking about it (the flavors all mixed together and pho's tasty so~). However, I realized it also tasted good in Vietnamese sandwiches (banh mi) and damn, it was beautiful in there. Now, I'm very much a huge cilantro fan. :)
I LOVE cilantro! It's amazing in soups, rice, chicken, sauces, etc.
People have told me it takes like soap, so I find that article funny. But, I can't describe the taste of cilantro well. It's just... slightly bitter and very herby.
love love love it! it's really good in Mexican food. Apparently it's good for aiding digestion and filtering your blood, too! :) Of course, I don't taste the whole soap thing; to me, it's like a slightly bitter/different mint.
I adore cilantro. I love salsa with LOADS of cilantro - to me it makes the salsa taste fresh.
I actually only found out a little while ago that it's like a love/hate thing. I assumed everyone loved it! Haha.
I hate coriander with a passion, it tastes like that earthy tang that you get when the food has gone off. Taste wise I cannot tell the difference between dishes with coriander in and dishes made with mouldy ingredients.
It gets really embarrassing at restaurants, I have to ask a friend to taste it before I go accusing the cooks of making gross food.
I don't have a strong feeling toward cilantro either way, it doesn't have much of a flavor to me. However the smell of too much of it makes me sick to my stomach.
I don't really have any opinion on coriander.
