I've been hearing this all over the forums lately, that Subeta is going to slow down on restockables. This scares me, I find that idea horrifying. Does that mean items will only be released for Cash shop, collections and holidays? What about people just starting on Subeta? That isn't very New User Friendly. I don't find it Subeta Friendly either.

Restockables are gold sinks, TC fodder, and loads of people restock daily. If anything I think the pace we have been going at the past few weeks has been nice. Now if only you'd pay attention to shops that are "losing interest", you know why people lose interest? No new restocks! For example, the Marbles, eye wearables, right? Placed in the Grooming Parlor instead of the Toy Store. The Toy Store needs new items, Really the only stores getting any love are the Wearable Stores.

Now I love Wearables, but these other stores deserve love too, and culling them all is not the answer, neither is cutting out making restockables. Being able to pay sP for things that aren't literally millions of sp is important, though we don't mind the gold sink.

I fail to see why staff are blaming users for their own negligence. I love the idea of the Atebus Shop but I'm not interested in most of the items there because they either have wildly outdated art or were added so long ago that I already have all I could ever want or need. Same goes for the Toy Box, Get Mugged and the Beach Shack's older items, and a few more shops besides.

I think staff are missing the point. Revamp poor quality item art and add some new items and the shops should get some life back to them. c: Restocking is a fun and cheap way to get items. There's no need to remove shops, just to fix them up.

I certainly agree, there has been a lot of talk about what could be done with the Atebus Shop. Two threads with loads of posts. Asking for new Space Items and suggestions about what can be done, such as Calvin Blackmoon swoops in. Atebus Shop has always had the highest potential in my mind to have CYBERPUNK clothes.

But even the computer place could do with more things, the games store...all of these stores really could have some fun stuff put in there! We don't just want clothes! Please show the other shops love!

I haven't read all of the thread where Keith's Grand Restocking Plan was revealed because I know it'll just make me angry. Just knowing the ridiculous notion that because only a small portion of the userbase does something means it's worthless and can be scrapped has reared it's head again makes me start to rage. I did see something about Keith wanting people to get items through participating on the site. Because restocking is apparently an non-participatory activity.

What really scares me is that despite all the suggestions for new items (and the unanimous support for any new sci-fi items) and the general strong opposition to the removal of the Atebus shop, they're just going to ignore it all and scrap it anyway.

I haven't read the other thread either. I guess I'm going to wait and see what happens and then talk about it - half the time an implemented idea needs feedback and serious tweaking anyway, so while I'm not a fan of the overall Grand Idea I'd rather not opinionate about it until I know what it looks in action. I have the feeling it's going to need a lot of overhaul and fixing.

What I've never understood, though (and get really frustrated with) are the frequent statements from Keith along the lines of "NOBODY ever does Activity A" as a justification for why something will be changed, and then massive site restructure happens based on that sweeping assumption when it's clear that many people actually enjoy doing Activity A.

Just because Keith doesn't like a thing doesn't mean we all hate it too and want it gone. It's usually the exact opposite.

Edit: Also, the reason people don't "like" certain shops is because there's little use for those items on site. I'd bet folding money the traffic to Bits N Bytes dropped dramatically after that one quest was closed down. There's no demand for those items any more.

Also, considering that in early February, Keith literally doubled the number of items that restock, I'm baffled why now we're suddenly considering a "slowdown" because "there are too many items in the shops". Like...just take the number of restockables back to what we were working with, because the current glut is literally deliberate? I get the feeling it's a constant cycle of let's try this, let's try that, let's overhaul this, let's change that without ever really examining the root causes, and thus just the symptoms get addressed and create a more complicated problem down the road.

There wasn't really more demand for Bits 'n' Bytes items when the Computer Geek quests were still around, considering he asked for Toy Box items more than anything. I still don't get what that was about.

Yeah, I always found that odd, as well. That's a good point, too, probably a better example even, because when the computer quest went away, demand for toys absolutely plummeted.

It seems odd to point to the lack of restocking in particular stores and say "you don't shop there enough, guys" when the lack of demand sources more directly from the existing quest structure and lack of demand on site in general. It kinda reminds me of the the big kid asking the smaller one, "why are you hitting yourself?"

Bits and Bytes has so much potential. There is so much that could be done, more technology, more video game stuff. I mean, what about MMO references? Computer stores sell memorabilia and collectables too. Figurines.

The Trading Card Center has D&D stuff, miniatures, dice. There's loads of other table-top games out there that could be referenced.

I can't really add anymore to this thread than what's already been said, but getting rid of shops and slowing down restocks is not going to fix the problem.

I'm still extremely miffed about the Graveyard Shop being shut down a while back and yes, even the Balloon Hut.

Yep, everything that has been said. They are literally shutting down shops that aren't used, but they aren't used because they literally get zero new items. (Okay the balloon shop was a bit much... but at least I could frag the balloons, and I'm all about fragging).

But like, Seedlings? I hate Seedlings. I hate that the Survival Flowers restock there (really I do. Fraggable or not, I'm so sick of them), and I hate that we never get new items. And the newest items we did get? WEARABLES. It's called SEEDLINGS. GIVE US MORE SEEDS. TO PLANT. IN THE GARDENS. TO GET AWESOME FLOWERS. AND PLANTS.

Toy Shop? DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY TOYS EXIST? Give us awesome toys. You know what I want? Barbie Jeeps and Polly Pocket-like toys.

Bits-n-Bites? OMFG YES VIDEO GAME STUFF. GAMING CONSOLES AND GAMES AND CONTROLLERS AND STUPID MERCHANDISE FOR ALL OF IT (idec if it's all Subeta-based made-up games, that makes it even cooler)

The Beach Shack hasn't been neglected, but it has in terms of NON-WEARABLES (surprise, surprise) Give me cool seashells, weird knickknacks that could be washed up on the beach and made into dumb souvenirs, more oceany minions. (Okay we do need better bathing suits though and maybe some surf boards). Even like, bottled sand in different colors?

I'm going to second/third/etc this thread. This isn't subeta-friendly at all. New users won't be able to get anything nice. Slowing down restocks is going to be harmful to the economy, and everyone on subeta. Just because it appears that something isn't working right, doesn't mean it should be shut down. Ask users for ideas. Revamp shops. Release more nice things for the shops that never get any love. Make it worth restocking in those places. That's how you fix it, not by just slowing down restocks and deleting shops altogether.

Yeah, something needs to be done about shops... because they've been neglected, especially certain ones like the Atebus shop. There are a lot of older items that need to be revamped and some shops need more items. Maybe we need a new type of quest, but we definitely don't need restocks to slow down. We need there to be more incentive to go to the shops and restock items.

There are too many cash shop items coming out. I've seen people complain about this over the years but until recently (past year or so) I didn't think it was that big an issue. I've definitely changed my mind now. I get that it's one of the main ways besides ads that Subeta makes money but it shouldn't be favoured so much that everything else gets neglected. As much as I like wearables I think too many have been coming out and not enough of other items. As well, we really need a new feature that gives an incentive to restocking other items and letting us USE Those items, not just in pet treasures.

I will love you forever if you trade me:

If they shut down what they call "unpopular shops", then we will end up with 7 shops max? Seems worthless to me. Why not retiring stuff that aren't really sought out by anyone and add new interesting stuff? Why not asking what your userbase is seeking? Is it a case of "It's my website, I do what I want with it and I do what I want to please myself"? Because if I look at how TV writers butcher their show, maybe it would be nice to stop right now.

I enjoy restocking, especially when vending hates my face and I want to get the new items as soon as possible. Of course if you only stock junk at every RS, then I'll just ignore it because I literally have a shop full of junk.

Video games in toys?(or the tech shop whatever) would be nice. How about some brand new game console and portable game device? How about tablet and phone? If you want, you can turn them wearable and make them have a dual purpose.

Before closing the Atebus shop, might consider reading Atebus Shop, Blackmoon, Sci-Fi and Cyberpunk.

What annoys me is that players suggest all kinds of items for the site but if it isn't cute and fluffy girly stuff or wall to wall boutique clothing it's dismissed as 'niche' items which very few people would be interested in.

It's not like the alternatives to getting items are being given much love, either. The quest shops and forum shop don't have much in them while the MC gets very few new items every season. Last year's Alegarten had one new wig in several recolours while last year's TOT had nothing new - we were given a mini plot with a small number of prizes if we managed to jump through the hoops but it didn't really make up for what we used to get for Morostide.

A few years ago there was a summer fashion contest with the fictional winner being given a clothing line in SBQ. There was a long topic about introducing an alternative version of SBQ with more unusual clothing but the suggestions were ignored. It's sad how many people expect all the suggestions for a revamped Atebus Shop to be ignored as well.

Subeta logic: We're going to neglect to ever put anything new or useful in these shops, then blame the users for the lack of traffic and close them down

It's EXACTLY what they did to the Graveyard Shop, and I remain hella pissed that my creepy halloween based shop that didn't sell cutesy froo froo crap was shut down after YEARS of it being ignored by the staff. Stop remaking CWs in two dozen colors (yeah, I'm looking at you, flats) and start creating new, themed items for those shops that get low traffic BECAUSE YOU DON'T PUT ANYTHING IN THEM.

I love restocking on Subeta and am very sad to see the state it is in. It is one of the things that keeps me playing and one of the things that attracted me here. It frustrates me even more that users are coming up with brilliant ways to keep shops alive while staff are doing nothing to solve the issue; in fact it seems to get worse.

Just because it isn't a wearable/cutesy doesn't mean it's worthless or that few players would enjoy it.
