There are very few rules for the Wayward Squirrel Event, but there are some:

1. No "god-playing." You know, the one where your character is all powerful and no challenge even slows them down. (For some reason, warriors and mages seem the most tempted by this, but no class is immune.) This sort of thing will make all your teammates more willing to drop you in a hole than Silver Legends is to roll Tea_Roll down a hillside, and you know what happened there. Besides, it won't work. I am a savvy god-play blocker. ;)

2. All puzzles and challenges must be submitted through your captain or co-captain. This is a team event, and it only functions that way.

3. There are no stats, nor will there be. WS seems to work very well without these, and our judges are awesome. Their determinations in all cases are final.

4. Most important:

Now, the regulations so the revelry can begin:

1) Adventure Mode: Each chapter will have one challenge and one puzzle. The puzzle may be built into the challenge, or it may not. You will have four days to solve each of these. If all teams are in, we'll move on ahead, even if the time is shorter. Except in dire circumstances, there will be no extensions.

Traveler Mode: Each chapter will have either a puzzle or a challenge. Your team will have one week to do this. Except in dire circumstances, there will be no extensions. However, you will not need to participate in some chapters, which will be for Adventure mode only.

2. Only a fixed number of points may be gained in each chapter, no matter how many, or how few, team members you have. You do not need one member of each class to play, and you may also have two members use the same class.

3. Bonus points for both modes will be included in the chapter and are optional. (But, if you want to win...)

4. You may interact with the NPCs as you wish, and I will respond, but you won't get any information such as hints. All teams will remain on an even playing ground at all times. You may also not play an NPC without my agreement, nor may you permanently alter the setting. :D

5. Your entry into the Prize Gallery will be based on your team's overall score. You may interact with other teams, but, in the end, it's a competition. A friendly one, but still, a competition.

6. There is no right or wrong way to role-play a challenge as long as you get the job done. For this year, role-play submissions will be posted by your captain on the chapter thread, so everyone will read and see your submissions. The Wayward Squirrels really like this!

7. You will use each and every item in your given pack at some time during the adventure if you wish to get the highest score in each chapter. You will not receive your pack until the day of the adventure.

8. There are two main structures to the plot: the settling of the Seelie/Unseelie War, and the solving of the attacks on Bordertown.

9. If there are any ties, they will be broken by the amount of role-play participation on the chapter threads.

Notes: The RP forum asks that we post (OOC) for all out-of-character comments on the actual RP threads. We do want to work within Subeta's rules for the event. You cannot die. You will not starve. You can be injured. You may have a companion, or two if they are a "set." You may use generators, or all-clothing-on-Subeta for all HAs required in the event. You MAY appeal a puzzle if you believe you have a right answer I didn't credit. You may not appeal the judges' decision. These are the most unbiased group of knowledgeable folks, and they don't know you. You may ask why your score wasn't perfect, or get a critique.

Bear in mind that each team has its own character, as do the players within it. There is no one way to be a mage, or an alchemist, or anything else. Go ahead and take a risk with your persona if you wish. It's all good.

Questions are always welcome, as are rants (but please smail those.) You may argue with me; in fact, most of you do. ;) I'm always willing to listen and help.

And then lovecraft can be urged to push Tea_Roll off of cliffs by the rest of us. :D Although not so much in 's case since they cake buddies. :D And it might mostly just be me encouraging lovecraft to push Tea_Roll off of cliffs...but hey, when she deserves it, she deserves it! BAHAHAHAHA!!!

so there will be no individual "class" challenges this year? And not having a certain class on our team will not prevent us from doing any of the challenges?

By role-play do you mean random, fun, role-play between team members on the thread? (Such as my character talking to another team member's character.) Or the role-play submitted during official chapters by a co/captain?

The plot is still under construction, and will be for a while, but I'll give you a tentative yes on the specific challenges. There are always ways to work around, though. :)

The young man anonymously giving tomes and talking about chasing squirrels is IN NO WAY part of the Wayward Squirrel. It is a separate event that has NOTHING to do with me! (Although its timing and phrasing is suspicious, to say the least.) WS3 will not even begin until mid/late May. If you get one of these, respond as you will, but it will not give you points, is not a secret mission, etc. I can't tell you the confusion this caused last year or how many smails I got regarding this. Not us, Adventurers, NOT US!
