I know we just had a contest and won’t have one for a while now (and yes, anticipate people instantly whining “BUT I CAN’T DRAW CW’S IT’S ALWAYS CW’S ONLY WEH”). But I am tossing this out there for the future, if there is a future contest.

CW contest fixes/edits:

1. Separate items has been suggested and confirmed by Keith, but throwing this in here. Facial items will get entered in like crazy because it’s literally the only way for us to get eyes and mouths that we want, on site. But perhaps we could also separate wigs, too ? Thus far, someone who is very thinly veiled here, has taken two spots for her wigs in each contest (AND RIGHTLY SO ! Her wigs are down right amazing; I mean zero shade or offense you are amazing). But it sorta kicks others out because of it. Will it be one/two from each entered category ? But what if only one foreground is entered ? Possibly pairs, top wigs + backgrounds, top facial items + clothing, top non-clothing items (wings, jewelry) + companions/foregrounds/etc ? Iunno, just throwing some ideas there to help plant seeds.

2. State how many will win. Not at the start, but when we go in to voting. Something like “you will be voting for your top five, and the top three will be put on site with X prize(s).” At least this way not only do you know that there are that many acceptable entries, but we know how many will be picked. And if more are picked, Hell yes we will all be happy.

3. Rethink the prizes. While I don’t mind the sP price, it’s a huge deal for many others. Doing it in tiers may make some people feel a bit off put, but doing “top 1-5 gets 2kcsc + 20m, top 5-10 gets 1kcsc + 10m” could work and if more are added after that, you have room. “We decided to add five more to the winners, and they will get 500csc + 5m”

4. As suggested, please let us know if prizes will be available for non-entrants to buy ! This will limit the amount of people submitting obvious "participation prize 4me2!!11!1!1" entries. Which saves staff time, and possibly on headache medication.

A possibly future contest:

Subeautique Makeup Contest. Since a lot of users like to take the chance to upload what we ordinarily cannot, this should cut some out of future ones… Or give us an excuse to have fun. They could all be bunched into a new section… I vote for naming it ‘Erratic Cosmetics’ … Since it would be an array of things.

Now, for this suggestion I think taking a new route would be fun. Not just makeup, but things related to makeup as well. Noses ? Eye drops ? Similar things ? We could have more than the usual amount of winners for this, too, since there tends to be a large number of items in these lines. Obviously the prizes would alter to fit such a thing.

Have it be the rule that we can only upload ONE of each piece, no recolors. And the the top 5 could be allowed to upload a couple of recolors (if something like a makeup-less smile wins the top, perhaps ask them if they have another idea or want to hand the option off to another winner ?). And then have the top 10/15 be released along with them. This way there would be a few items that come in a few colors, and then a handful of one-off items.

Prizes could be a free copy + the norm, or smaller batches of the normal prizes.

added (through comments): Have a SubQ designer contest. Like - for those who are versatile and interested - design one SubQ line. You must have clothing + hair - random inclusions: shoes, features, accessories, backgrounds. (Muerte note: She means similar to how the SubQ Designer contest was ! Sketching out a concept for a line, not actually drawing the whole set)

It may not be ideal, but that could generate a lot of interest. And yeah - stagger the prize awards. Or cut sP out entirely. Get X amount of CSC, a copy of your design + a copy of all other winning designs, and maybe a title or site theme? Or some other random winner only prize that is not part of a collection dear god like the sticker.

Good ideas, definitely. I'd also like to mention "actually telling us if the participation stuff will be up for sale or not (and for how long) so those of us who can't draw don't have to waste everyone's time with throw-away submissions".

I like those ideas, a Subq makeup or clothing contest could be fantastic -- even though it'd be hard to design all pieces of a Subq set and have it pass staff's criteria right at first! Maybe submitting concepts and one finished piece / sketches would have to do for that...

If we're dividing general contest entries in more than just "facials" and "non facials", then I do support there being a category for wigs and backgrounds/foregrounds, since those items tend to be particularly popular in CWs! It's not a surprise users would love a chance to have them at more accessible prices, I personally always expect to see at least a wig or two and a bg or two among the winners c:

So bgs/wigs + regular clothing + facials could be a nice division to help keep things more diversified. Even though the facial items number will always outweigh the others XD

The more I think about it, the more I love the Subq makeup contest, a contest JUST for eyes and lips with several winners (maybe coming back every once in a while, too) would sure help reduce this craving we all have for facial stuff!

How about design a weapon/scroll ); find a talented friend to draw it, win your weapon + csc boosters + no sP or csc is even needed.

Staff gives the top weapon some decent stats and a gimmicky curse or blessing

Not everyone likes wearables. :(

I think she meant just a concept, in the same light as how the Designer contest was ! Where the staff artists all drew up designs for a possible new SubQ designer. So not actual CW's or anything.

Oh, I like your idea of wigs/BG's and facial items on their own, as... I don't mind more facial items since it's the only way we can get them. And I also love that more BG's tend to make it in the finals... I love backgrounds. o-o

It would also be a great sP sink + get rid of more of the SubQ invites.

Well, this was posted very specifically for CW contests. I know not all of the contests should be around wearables silly ! This was just for a "for a future one" ;)

Now i know the underground alchemist has been broken for a while now, could we have a fill up the layer cards contest? You could choose up to 3 different layers to submit, minimum one wear per layer per user.

I would love to see a face-items-only contest once. It would get a few more on site and maybe the next contest after wouldn't be quite so flooded with face items.

I completely agree with everything in the OP, especially stating the (even approximate) number of winners and whether the prizes will be available to buy. I downloaded GIMP and threw something together for the contest so I could get that zombie Oatmeal/Gruel companion. Not only can I not draw, I also can't work GIMP so it was just a mess I'd rather not repeat if I don't have to :P

I honestly would like to see a 50/50 division if two completely different shops are involved (an independent voting area for Louis' shop and an independent voting area for Skitters' shop and each voting area will have items exclusive to the individual shop; then the winning items would be put into each individual shop from each individual voting area), or a 3, 4, 5, etc division depending on the amount of shops that there are with the same amount of voting areas with each voting area containing items exclusive to that shop. The winning items from each voting area would then go into each individual shop.

In each individual voting area there would be two separate sections - one for facial features and one for everything else (honestly I'd love a section for all layers but that would be way too much work lol! XD), then voting would proceed as normal. X amount of votes allowed for each section. Then, as many people are wanting (and I do, too) the same amount of winners as votes allotted (5 votes per person = 5 items that win, for example).

I think this would make things a lot more fair. Even though there might be a few more people who prefer one set of shop items over another, it'd still ensure fairness all the way around.

I do agree that splitting it down the center when more than one shop is involved is the better way to go ! I do understand Subeta wanted more sP-sinks… But I also have a crapton of hearts I need to get rid of. And I am not saving them for something expensive, like I am saving for a Natasha with my sP.

Doing one for each layer would be way too much ;) But yeah, splitting it into different sections within the page could work very nicely.

I can't see that happening. I don't think Staff would allow us to have control of the battle area. Players could create such vast god weapons that it would be ridiculous. No I think it's best to stick to something that can't be manipulated

Players wouldn't be in charge of stats. That would obviously lead to ohko global boss weapons. But if we could design something and staff would give it some thought, give it a unique blessing or curse, decent stats that aren't god tier but good enough that it isn't going to be completely unused, I think it could work.

I like the Subq designer idea, that would be a fun one to enter. I think even more people will enter if it's just sketching the outline rather then an actual CW that can be rejected over a technicality.

my suggestions are

1. allow ALL the entries that fit the contest and site requirements into the voting round, not staff picks but all of them, you never know, we might like one that the staff over-looked

2. announce the number of final winners before hand.

3. have Honorable mentions for those that "almost" made it or that were so well made that they deserved recognition. they should also get a little something for their effort, I was sad to see some of my picks go without recognition.

4. no recolours, now I know they're allowed and all but honestly I wanted to see more original cw ideas rather then the same item in 3 different colours =/

Would splitting it down the middle /really/ be fair though? What if one shop/theme had twice as many entries as the other? There's a higher chance people are going to find more items in that shop they'll like, simply due to there being more to choose from.

Splitting it how it was split this year is less fair to be honest, and there's really no perfect way to set it up. But at least splitting it up you know there will be an even amount, whether or not you vote for more/like more from one side. Those that liked more lovey stuff this year ended up getting very shafted in the end, no matter how many undead vs. lovey stuff there were. Personally I don't mind how it was split this year because I went in knowing that it was more intended to be an sP sink. So logically, once the results came out, I understood why more were in the Den.

I never get what I want but there could have been an opportunity to use both hearts and sp, or have hearts being buyable as a currency in Louis' store.

I am always mad at missed opportunities.

I wish we could buy hearts. I'd like to take some of these out and sell them. But I am in full support, of they do this next year, in making the CW's either buyable by hearts or sP, or strictly costing both.
