.-. Not as in "oh hei, anything goes here" sort of forum, but one that will move threads that tend to "cross the line" a bit somewhere where we can discuss them safely. Admittedly, there is a lot of crossing the line that occurs, which was going to happen with a community that is made up of many 20+ aged users. This is one of the charms of the site. But there are certainly times when those lines get moved and then crossed, and users continue to try to push them further, resulting in bans and upset people, especially staff (Most notably the recent desire to discuss 50 shades). I believe that this will cut back on some of this line crossing by giving everyone one certain spot to go if they want to discuss A) Heavily debated topics that may take more maturity to wrangle emotions and discuss as adults and B) Obviously those more "sexual" topics that we tend to either use innuendo to discuss or throw it out the window and just talk about it xD If possible, it'd probably be best to have this forum be one that topics need pre-approval before appearing or will move threads from other forums when they've become racy or heavily debated over.

I feel like the debate section works pretty well for a lot of this.

If you accidentally reveal you're under 13, your account gets frozen and you cannot come back until a year has passed.

This website just isn't the place for that. I can understand wanting to talk about more mature subjects every now and then, and that is fine, but this just isn't the place.

Considering you are on a virtual pet website that caters to 13 and up, I don't understand the point.

If the subject is inappropriate/crosses the PG-13 discussion line it doesn't belong here. It doesn't deserve it's own forum (although the isea of staff carding users would be hilarious) and there are plenty of adult forums offsite for that.

We're on a kids' site first and foremost. This site was designed with children in mind. If you want something adult oriented that badly, take it elsewhere.

No. Us adults ought to know better than to get too racy or vulgar on a PG-13 site. (I say us, because I am in my 30s... Yeah, I know I'm old. -shakes cane at young'ens- LOL)

People should exercise restraint, think about what they are posting, think about where they are posting, and have the good sense to take their non-PG-13 opinions elsewhere if they feel compelled to voice them. There are plenty of other places on the web for that.

They could have a "confirm you're 18 years or older" button that would make Subeta less liable for 13-year-olds who want to read a discussion about bad erotic fanfiction, or allow users more freedom in their private forums, but I have to agree with the others that I don't think Subeta is the ideal place to have those discussions anyway. While it's nice that this site has forums that allow you to debate real-world issues, that's not its purpose.

I think you're better off mailing people or making a set of forums off-site (or a tumblr or irc). People did it for site-related drama that they weren't allowed to discuss. -shrug- You might find that some people are opinionated enough that they'd be willing to resume the conversation elsewhere in the event that a topic gets locked.

This is a pet site, not a forum for every possible chat subject. I feel like Subeta is already pretty open about what you can and can't discuss here. So whatever crosses that line is probably unfit for on a pet site anyway.

Want to discuss heavy sexual subjects? Then find another place that is actually suited for that, this is not a damn sex site.

is there really enough demand for something like this to warrent putting it in place? maybe it's because i stick exclusively to subeta-relevant forums when i'm on here, but i've never actually seen anything that really breaches the "this isn't appropriate for this site" threshold. and i mean if i theoretically ever wanted to discuss anything particularly graphic with another user, i'd probably do so in smail or, better yet, offsite.

i dunno, any time i wanna talk sex, i tend to go to the appropriate outlets to do so. subeta's never struck me as the place to do it.

Like there's already plenty of sex chat and heavy debate and I think users old enough to use the forums as it is can handle it just fine. I can discuss sex (within reason), swear all I want, and make dirty jokes if I want, that's enough for me. If people want to get REALLY explicit there are other forums for that.

People under the age of 18 should not be on the internet if they want to preserve their innocence. They know what they're getting into by going online, and I doubt subeta is the worst place they go to.
