The conversation came up in the SB and I completely agree that this is something that should be seriously looked into. I think that someone buying ALL items in shop search up for the only purpose of self-gain should be against the rules.

The scenario:

An item is in SS for a reasonable price and is rather plentiful in amount. One person buys every single item up and then inflates the price to an insane amount and that player is the ONLY one you can get that from. It's pure greed and unjust. It's almost like a player is being scammed because they're being forced to pay the exuberant price set by the monopolizer.

I've seen this happen a lot by a number of people by the quantity of certain items in player shops. In no way is this thread meant to target, bully or harass any players, but it IS something that I wish staff could look into and see if there isn't something that can be done about it.

Not only does it knock the economy out of whack, it's completely cruel to players that a once reasonably priced item is now outlandishly expensive.

This is a free market, staff shouldn't get involved in business.

No support

lol no thanks.

If I want to take the risk of sinking a ton of money into buying up everything, I should be able to reap the rewards if they sell.

I can see so many issues with this

You want to make supply and demand against the rules?

I lost 35M with the dual rerelease of the piroctapus beanbags.

if it was reasonable, I would simply shut up, but it's not, to pay 50m for an item that was 10k one minute ago, it's not a free market, it's a scam..

Believe me I don't care to pay 1-10mil for a combo, achievement etc. item, for me it's reasonable, but at the moment that it goes above that because of a mass buying, I can't accept it anymore.

if it's not reasonable to you, you can just wait.

people are allowed to price as they seem fit.

sure people can price as they fit, but first I have the right to have the chance to buy the item for a reasonable price.

It won't kill anybody if for example on the first 5 hours of the day, the recycle beast items will be limited for one item every 5 minutes from user shop, after that - free market. This way everyone have the chance to buy at a reasonable price + mass buying and selling for profit. it's fair, and everybody will be happy.

I still see zero valid reasons other than "IT'S TOO EXPENSIVE AND I AM A PENNY PINCHER" to change how the system works.

I lost out when they added the Kumos Year Planner and Purple Hebdcsomething Sticker to the New Year Shop xD

I can't imagine how much more work the staff would be stuck with, having to make sure everything met some 'reasonable limit'

Monopolizing shouldn't be against the rules. If you don't like someone's practices, then don't buy from their shop. You can easily find some browser apps that can rename shop names/usernames/any word to "AVOID" and such if you desire.

Oh and Subeta isn't a free market. It's more of a black market in a soviet communist state system.

Not a fan of this. Yeah, it is an asshole thing to do but that is what happens in a free market. Eventually someone is gonna undercut them and then more undercutters will bring the price back down once the desire wear off.

If this is enforced then what else should be enforced in the market? Price caps to prevent inflation on new items? A staff-set minimum price for any rare or super rare item? My point is if staff have to regulate the user market then what is the point of having a user-run market?

This is usually noticeable on r160 (?) items, basically quentin items. Other items arent in constant demand while having a limited stock/having no consistent way to RS such items.

i think perhaps algorithms can be put in place to deal with how quentin requests items. Anything else, achievement items, rereleases... deal with it.

with that said, LEAVE IT ALONE. FREE MARKET.
