I am copying this from my post on Tumblr, where I wanted to lay it down and host images. Just in case people don't bother there, you can see and comment here !

There are artists that could do a far better job at this, that probably do not have a sarcasm problem. To the artists of these items, and all of the artists of Subeta, you are awesome, talented, and my snark is to be taken in a very joking way.

That said, you need to regulate your eyes more. A good portion of items, really, like mouths and wings… But we’re talking eyes here.

Now, I am no expert, but eyes should be on the same playing field. Line them up. One way to help is to have the paths tool as markers, as so:

I am a dunce and forgot to do different colors so you will have to deal (even more).

What you see are lines for the top, the bottom, and the pupil. You also see markers to indicate where the eye gap is. Above the eyes you see the markers for the eyebrows (start and arch). Now, since the face is at an odd angle that is incorrect and almost nothing is correctly angled so we have to go with what it’s like on site because TOO LITTLE TOO LATE, you are going to have to make the right eye (our left) a bit smaller than the left (our right). So in this I have the left a bit below the bottom and touching the top, whereas the right is touching the bottom and is a bit below the top line.

So, you line them

Pupils need to line up, and sort of need to be facing the same way (I know, sometimes my one eye wanders off to stare at the cutie with the biggest bootie; aint no shame).

Something I am going to note here: Notice how his eyebrows aren’t pencil thin ? Or one isn’t flying off into the sunset ? Let’s keep that in mind. They, like eyes, are on the same team. Keep them together. They’re sisters. Not conjoined or exact twins, but siblings. Ignore the fact that my eyebrows like to think they’re conjoined BUT I TAKE CARE OF THAT PROBLEM. Yes, expression is wonderful but not for every pair of eyes. Like the eyes, the right (our left) eyebrow will be a bit smaller all around.

Now, why am I talking out of my ass here ?

Sometimes you do this. Where one eye is just giving us the biggest “NOPE !” to ever nope. It’s given up attempting to make these bulbous heads look good, man. He gone.

Because the shape (and angle; which again my silly ass forgot to do), needs to be consistent. One eye looks like it’s ready to pop out and the other has a rather nice look to it. It’d be better if they matched.

Because the size is not relative. If the right (our left) eye is either the same size or larger, you’re drawing them at the wrong angle.

Now, Biggest Dick Award (and not the good kind) goes to me, as I edit some official art to demonstrate this further:

Lean like a chola playing in the distance. The first two are still off, mostly the second. But notice how they are just sort of… Not lining up in any of these. Or the other ten recolors of these eyes ? I didn’t mean to pinpoint one artist here, these were just ones I grabbed first and it’s something that happens with other artist’s eyes. Quick note: Your eyebrow game strong. I would love all of these eyes if they weren’t so tilted. After realigning these I realized I actually love the eyebrows. May we have a stand alone “Eyebrow Marker” item with the realigned ones please ?

These have an issue of inconsistent shape/angle. The first one is more minor but causes the left/our right eye to look like it’s falling (I love these eyes so much though). The second, aside from Pencil-Thin-Eyebrowitis, the left eye is angled far more dramatically (it’s also too closed once re-angled so I fixed that).

These are both flying high, something that needs to be taken into account is any of the other items on site. These eyes are simply stunning, but don’t line up with literally any other eye item. They’re far too high (and a bit too centered).

These two have the whole “incorrect size relative to the face angle” thing going for them. They’re not the only ones, either. There are other eyes that are either drawn from a straight-on view or pretty much the opposite angle.

Whoa boy, I am a damned asshole. But you know, I love you and I want to help you make pretty items even more pretty… And in some cases useable.

I love that you didn't even address some of the worst offenders. Probably because they're not fixable. It seems so crazy that some of the eyes even get released.

These eyes though.

Oh, which eyes ? I grabbed ones that I remembered off the top of my head that I knew were offenders (and those Delish eyes that I had previously done). Personally I think the and the are some of the worst.

There are plenty more, but that was a quick scan of my wardrobe.

GDI I LOVE YOU. The edits make everything look so much better. Subeta, why can't we have nice things like this?! I really hope that the artists consider this for new items (and maybe hopefully fix the old ones, please, because this is a disgrace. All these unusable items...)

Editing to say that I am another of those who only use certain eyes. Tbh I use only the Donna Fake Lashes and the Defective Lash and Shadow Set - just two sets of eyes. I feel like there aren't any nice brown eyes, other than the Donna ones, that actually look right...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks some of the eyes, among other things, should be fixed. It drives me crazy trying to find something symmetrical. The art is beautiful, but it just doesn't work. :C

There are very specific sets of eyes I use for making HAs for these exact reasons. Some existing ones should just be tossed out as lost causes, imo.

I would use the shit outta those mouths. I hate them otherwise. I LOATHE THEM. A+ job.

While I do agree, that some eyes look a bit crooked, I do have to disagree with you at some points. But I am not an artist, just an observer, so I don't know how valid my points are.

I think the lining up of the eyes would only help making the eyes fit in better, if the faces would be straight. They are not, we are looking at the faces from an angle. That is why we only get to see one ear and one of the sides of the head. That's why the noses always point to the left side. This is why the avatars left eye should seem bigger than the right eye for our perspective, in order for them both being the same size.

Also the head appears a bit tilted depending on the use of items, and therefore would need tilted eyes as well. The avatars right eye needs to be a bit further down than the avatars left one to make this appearance.

In my opinion the three first pair of eyes you edited looked a lot more natural before your edit. I tend to use particularly those kind of eye sets to create a particular look on my HAs faces. points to my avatar

Yes, the HA is at an angle which is why in my post I noted the right (our left) needs to be smaller. And yes, if you wear certain items the eyes and mouths can look like they are tilted ! But that won't change the chin, nose, or ear. ^-^
