A feature I wasn't expecting.

I guess many HA makers will be very happy with the option to switch out of their Morostide and Zombie skins. Personally I liked seeing how people would work around their skins to make HAs, and we won't see as much of that now. At least next year I can zap my skin and keep the option of having my zombie base whenever I want it.

Coverups will probably decrease in price because they're not really needed anymore. :P

Also: When Morostide comes around, will zapping into a certain skin "unlock" it for you permanently? Or when you rezap will the option for using that skin disappear?

I am so conflicted on this issue.

On one hand I really applaud the staff for coning up with a way to ensure that artwork (zapper skins and zombie bases) can be better utalized throughout the year, as well as creating a new and exciting reward opportunity (skins)

On the other hand I feel awful for everyone who has cured because of how many times they were assured that they would never see an opportunity like this. I think they have right to be disappointed, but hope that they see the benefits of the system.

I don't know what an ideal solution would be, but I hope that old skins aren't just tossed out willy-nilly

This is so awesome and unexpected! I hope that this feature is expanded to layering (zapper/zombie) partial skins over (normal/unlockables/zapper/zombie) full skins.

i thought it was a neat addition until i found out it wasn't retroactive.

i agree with what someone had said in the comments of the news post about maybe unlocking the old zombie skins via loyalty boxes (one per box) or simply looking at their join date and giving them the skins from the years that they were active.

but now the partial experiment skins can never be use by a claimed zombie D8

I'm not super keen on the unlocking and being given a choice.. like I understand past users want to be able to use old zombie skins but I still don't know if I love the idea. Maybe it's a little part of me that's sad about losing the exclusivity, haha.

I do wonder if "new" users got the old zombie skins, would they also get retroactive access to the zombie den? Many old zombies kept their skins because they liked having access to the older zombie den items.. letting people pick the old skins AND being given access to older zombie den items would be a double whammy for people who kept their skins.

I know that mentioned that there's no immediate plans for rereleasing zombie skins, but I know it'll come up eventually. :P

I love the feature, but the non-retroactive bit kills me. I can't believe if I could have waited another week to cure my Morostide skin I'd have gotten to use it all year as I wanted :/

And I feel bad for those who, like myself, cured their Zombie skins because we were assured that this would not happen.

It is a great feature. But I do understand that people who cured (like me) are disappointed. I must say it is not that I miss the Zombie skin (had that terrible lobster face) but the opportunity to get into the Zombie Den and Alchemist and such.

So, offering a feature where your cure just didn't work (giving you back the Zombieness and thus access) or just giving the chance to access Zombie locations (without regaining Zombie Skin) would be great. With the latter way, people who sticked to their Zombie skins despite all their limitations are rewarded with their unique skins, but access is not restricted to fewer and fewer people on the site. It is a pity that so many nice features are for the use of a few (which was great in the past when you had a choice, but as it is claimed that no new Zombie skins will be released it is now just a waste of features).

I like the idea but it would have been better if people had been warned in advance. After all, it's a long time until we can use the Morostide zapper again.

Am looking forward to seeing new skins on the site even if I mightn't want to use them myself.

I had given up on ever having a normal HA again so this is quite a surprise! I am glad it's not retroactive (even though it would be awesome to get my original boobitis back!) because that would disadvantage people who have kept their skins for so long. The people who haven't cured for years would only have their one zombie skin because they could not become a different zombie every year, while those that cured straight away every year would have every skin.

I'm surprised that you can put the skin on and access the zombie den whenever you like. Kind of glad though, because otherwise I still wouldn't be curing. Though I am so used to being a zombie deer, I almost don't want to be normal again. XD I am looking forward to being able to be a different zombie next year though. :D

It's exciting! I'm excited! It's great that this level of choice and availability has been given to us. I really like a lot of the zapper skins, but have always avoided using it because I didn't want to use up a load of token for something I'd inevitably feel "stuck" with before too long. It's just a shame about the awful timing; less than two weeks after we lose access to the main source of skins, and we're just going to have to wait another year.

It may be controversial, but I really hope that there'e some way to open up access to zombie skins. I was too late the site to ever be a permanent zombie, plus I've coveted the Blistered Hearts skin for some while now.

But in general I'm just really happy this kind of thing finally happened. I don't know how things can get sorted regarding 2009-12 strains and pre-2014 Den items, but it's great to know the zombie system won't be the same anymore, for everyone! I dislike how it created a whole 'zombie vs humans' division and how it bred resentment/hard feelings among users/towards staff. The whole 'if you love this you have to either use it all the time or never use it again' and 'if you have this you can't have that unless I also have your thing' which are hardly justified when it comes down to a few bases and a handful of items Skitters sells.

I'm glad everyone will be able to enjoy themselves better from now on, if anything it might incentivize even more people to join the festivities during Survival. Will certainly incentivize fun avatars with diversified skins all year round. c:

Seriously though... I personally don't care about skins, and won't be using this feature, and even if the skins I had in the past had been retroactively given to me, like they should have been, I don't think that would change.

I really like the idea and the theory behind it, and I like that we'll be able to find skins in interesting other ways in the future.

Personally, I wouldn't want the old strains rereleased. It sucks, but I think they're like these retired currencies. If you still have them, yeah, you can use them, but if you cured them, it's like spending or getting rid of your old currency.

I missed on a bunch of 2011-2012 skins I could have wanted because I kept my old 2010 skin.

The only way where it could work, and even then, I wouldn't be happy, would have them be EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE via the zombie den. By EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE, we're talking, either in the high 8 digits or in the 9 digits.

I'm really happy that I can finally use the normal bases without giving up my strain. I've been using the beast skin for as long as it came out even though I've long since grown to dislike that skin. I now need to get back my enthusiasm to make HAs though. That left me awhile ago when I got tired of the beast skin and the zombie skin.

The only thing I'm not too sure about is getting new skins. I've dealt with the zombie (along with the zapper) skin for so long now that getting new skins I can use whenever doesn't appeal to me. Why would I want to make a HA around a "special" skin when I've been doing (even if I never saved and used it) that for years now? There are a couple of zapper skins I like but not enough that I'm chomping at the bit to get them right now. I may not even try that hard to get them.

I would like all of this a lot more if it was retroactive and I will never ever understand the big drama some people make out of theoretical old strain re-releases everytime this topic comes up but whatever, trying to follow Subeta's logic is something I have given up long ago so enjoy your nose everyone....I suppose.
