I'm making a new thread here because the original Site Update thread was locked.
I'm just copying the post I made on 10/8:
Celesse Trading Card Giselle Rosebud Lace Skirt Purple Head Sash
And then this CW's description, too:
Cosmic Tail of the Quick Silver
[edit]
I just realized there are several items that use alternate forms of the word:
Diamond of the Galactics Dress Erista Silver Deluxe Feathered Mask The Atebus Language
Demented Arid Torrey Plushie
("Jip" is a misspelling of "gyp")

Yikes, especially that headscarf. It's not only using gypsy, but playing on the fucked up 'all gypsies are thieves' stereotype
Yep, I'd definitely like to see these changed as well!
I kind of feel like the skirt has a nice description despite the gypsy word in it. I'm happy it doesn't entirely paint the word horrible (like the headscarf).
I'm sure they'll get fixed up soon!

jip is a word meaning rip off...

- It is, but it came from "gyp" which is short for "gypsy" and plays off of stereotypes.

I really don't think 'jip' should be replaced. It's a common term for being ripped off or cheated. The context of the description isn't referring to actual gypsies so it's not really that offensive? I know the word originally stems from 'gyp/gypsy', but this is kind of a reach.
Thank you, It's 2am here and my brain couldn't form the words politely.

Yeah, I don't see any reason for jip to be replaced. I understand how people can take it as an insult to the word gyp but it's pretty much lost it's meaning to that and is understood as being ripped off.
And what's wrong with simply changing it to 'rip off' to avoid the association?
I wouldn't have a problem with that! I can say I personally never looked at it and thought of gypsies and I imagine others don't either. If there's people who really take offense to it than I can understand it being changed.
Probably because, over time, it has become misspelled in to 'jip' so most people don't realize it's actually 'gyp' as in 'gypsy'.
Though, just to say, my chrome spell check recognizes gyp, not jip. So gyp is actually the correct spelling
I don't mind it being changed, I just don't see it being as necessary as the other changes -shrug-
Yeah i don't see a reason for "jip" to be replaced personally. I don't believe it is associated with "Gypsy" much any more, it's even adopted a new spelling over time. The description itself isn't harking back to actual gypsies or making a rude comment about them.
