I just finished writing a massive story for one of my pets (over 8k words) and every time I try to add the story to the rest of the profile it has so far, it only accepts like 80% of the story before abruptly cutting it off and deleting anything after it.

Why? Is there a character limit or something? If there is, it seems like something that should be posted on the edit description page as a warning. I feel like I just wasted my time writing this story, as a character limit would have been nice to know beforehand.

I believe there IS a limit... because I remember another user hitting that limit once with one of their pets.

Thanks, but now I'm even more confused. I have the entire coding in a word document, lengthy story and all, and it says it's only 60,660 characters with spaces. @ _ @ Was it reduced or something? I could have used that "extra" 5,000 characters...

Maybe it includes spacing? I'm not totally sure.

I have no idea :x One of the people on one of those topics seemed to be hitting the limit at 61k, so I don't know how accurate the 65k+ number is :x

Most likely, yes, you probably have reached the max character limit. If the story is 8k words long, then I imagine your character count with/without spaces is exponentially high as well.

Are you certain you highlighted everything in the word document and posted it in? Make sure you have no broken/unclosed bracket in the coding.

Without spaces the character count is: 50,849 With spaces the character count is: 60,660

according to microsoft word, anyway.

Oh well I guess. I was thinking about expanding on parts of the story but now I'm glad I didn't. I guess I should figure out some way to condense it... x:

That might be the best way to go...but you're absolutely certain you haven't got any errors with the CSS part? Are all square brackets closed off? Is there any bold, italicized, underline code that you may have forgotten to close?

No. Nothing like that has happened. I put the story right at the end of the coding, followed by the /div in brackets, and thats it. When it cuts off, it's right in the middle of a word about 8/10ths into the story.

Hmm...perhaps you did find the limit then. I'm sorry that happened to ya. Hopefully you didn't lose all of the story! I'd be pretty pissed too. D:

@ LuckBurnside There is definitely a character limit, and I believe it's 60k. It counts spaces.

My pet Xhav hit it a few years ago, and I had to cut her story clear in half to fit. :T Was kinda disappointed but she's still a good read IMO.

It's all good, I had it saved before.

I ended up doing something different since the story technically involves two of my pets on here I just split it up between the two profiles and made it fit. It doesn't flow very well or is as coherent but I'll get over it haha
