If you joined the second team to win, well then screw you right? no trophy or extra achievement for you guys!

There was an overall winner and there were genre winners. The runner-up band got plenty of acknowledgement despite not winning anything.

The granny smiths didn't actually win anything, though. They were recognized for their efforts, and were given two items based on their band. But they didn't win genre winner or overall winner, so I don't really see why they need a trophy or achievement..

But The Granny Smiths didn't win anything? ^ Because there are people who seem to think that they won genre. They got items made for them because the staff saw their effort, that's it.

There is no "second team to win," a win is a win and second place is still a loss.

Oh, OUCH. So the runners up - the genre winners - got a trophy, but the second finalist does not get one? Wow, it would have been better for us not to be a finalist -_-

Genre winners aren't runner up? It's winning a category. The Granny Smiths won second in the same category as the grand champion, that is indeed runner up.

I fail to see where is the problem. Being a genre winner, I could cry my eyes out for an exclusive item too, I guess?

Okay your post in caps has just delegitimized grievances that other users have for this recent event. Now, people will rush to label those who advised for changes as "complainers". This happens with all legitimate criticism on Subeta, which means that thoughtful users and their opinions will be lumped in with the person using caps.

I was going to type my own post, but this pretty much sums it up.

The only thing this ensures is making staff reluctant to ever give recognition to non-winning teams ever again. Please reflect, if for the sake of your supporters at the very least.

A runner-up isn't a winner and a "second place winner" is an oxymoron if I ever heard one. [edit] has an actually objective and constructive thread running in this forum too.

They weren't runner ups in their genre. They won their genre. The H&R won both their genre and the overall score.

Sorry you didn't win your genre, but that's exactly the case they did win their genres

Sucks that there were custom inspired prizes for two bands, one of which seems to be really unappreciative of the fact and the rest got generic items.

We got two items specially made for us, I think we came out alright.

I would post there, but I have some horrible things to say about how this event transformed my perceptions on my goals on Subeta should be about. I will only share such wisdom in... private if someone inquires.

I only read the two last pages of that thread and I couldn't handle any more since it made me cringe. There are hopefully holidays coming up that'll be handled much better!

I would give up every item I received for a trophy.

Technically, even though they didn't win the genre they did come in second overall in the contest. But I guess in this case that doesn't matter at all.

I could have sworn that even in contests with separate categories still have; Grand Winner/First Place, Runner Up/Second, Third. Then you have the category winners, special winners (most creative, most sexy, ect). Mostly because you can have, as BotB did, two or more in the same category with the most votes.

For BotB that ends up:

First Place- Most votes Second Place(s) Anywhere from a handful to hundreds of votes behind the one in second place.

I've got to say, it's been really disappointing seeing the sour and frankly rather unappreciative attitudes coming off the GS team (whether actual band members or supporters I can't say for sure since I didn't support the band, but still) over the last day or so.

You guys got TWO custom items made especially as tribute to the band as recognition for your hard work and creativity- things the staff certainly didn't have to do for a band who technically didn't win first in any category -only to whine and complain about how it's not enough.

Besides the grand champions, no other bands got any custom items or special treatment. The genre winners deserve trophies and titles for their accomplishments because they didn't get special items or anything unique like that, and they came in first place in their categories. I'm sorry you feel like you've been shafted, but tbh I don't see anything even remotely unfair about this, and this entitled attitude really reflects poorly on the band as a whole.

Please don't lump all GS supporters in one group, there were over 300 of us, and most of us aren't complaining beyond the issues that everyone else is upset about. I love and appreciate the special GS items we got.

The added items we got today help alleviate a lot of the problems identified. Still not happy with much of what happened, but I'm satisfied with how they've tried to even things out. I'll be even more satisfied if something was learned from this and we don't have these problems in the future.
