So I have been thinking about this for awhile now!

The Shoutbox is like a small chat for people to talk or "shout out" to others.

I have noticed that some people get frustrated when they don't update the chat often and they miss a reply that someone has put, or maybe you cant go back and see a post people was talking about.

My solution- Make Shoutbox store posted things on it.

Some people say just make a forums and talk there, but we don't have time to do that, and we have to keep up with the pages and also what if new people want to join, they would have to find our forum to post and have to read all the post.

Then you may reply that's what someone would have to do if we made the Shoutbox store post.

My solution- Clear chat every 10-20 mins, so there is no build up of old chat and the lag never goes bad.

You then reply what about the time it takes to code and the money you will need to code it?

I'm sure these are huge factors in this suggestion, but again it is only a suggestion and if people are on board then that is great!

That would ruin the point of it being a shoutbox. Shoutbox are not chatrooms,.

I'm not sure this is really necessary. If you're not paying attention to the shoutbox, that's kind of just... too bad? You could always comment the user if you missed what they said (if it's that important). Or, you could make a thread if it's a topic that you want to continue talking about in an environment that isn't so fast-paced.

Not to defend the suggestion or anything, I don't care one way or the other; but rambling on the SB and posting an actual topic/posts are two completely different things. It's extremely easy for someone to look at your recent posts and judge you based on the quality on them, while not so easy to do with what you say in the SB, or any other fast moving chat. Therefore, at least, I, try to make my posts on the forums somewhat informative and with decent spelling/grammar, something that takes much longer than "lulz" or "kthxbye" in the SB. There are plenty of times where I have something to say about a topic but would never actually spend the time to write out a forum post about it.

Not interested in upgrades to the shoutbox, it's completely unnecessary. If you miss a reply meant for you then, oh well. Like said, it's not a chatroom.

I disagree OP. If anything, getting rid of the SB would be the best solution. If you don't want to end up missing replies to you, then you and the other person(s) should just use profile comments or sMail. That's why they're there too.

You can already do that, it's called making your own IRC chatroom and inviting your friends to join. ^_^; It's not really difficult, I mean it's not on subeta, but it's really not a big deal to tab between subeta and IRC IMHO.

It's a shoutbox. In using it, you have to be prepared to miss stuff because it is designed to be a quick, casual means for people to talk. If it's really important, make a chatroom or thread for it, or mail, or comments... There are so many other things for you to use to not have to deal with that, without changing the concept of the shoutbox.

How about a auto refresh when someone posts?
