The Dragons will rise when the humans fall.
Howdy. I would be a little more.. elaborate with the title if I knew exactly what to call this. You mostly need to know that The humans are all dead, The dragons slumber, and something big is about to happen. It'll be explained a little better in the plot but if that sounds interesting to you, read on!
Rules
oo1. Use common sense. No godmodding or powerplaying or whatever they're calling it these days. No mary sues / gary stus, invincible characters, or killing without permission. Like I said- common sense. oo2. Literate and above, please. At least a paragraph or two per post, check your spelling and grammar, and make sure what you say can be replied to by others. oo3. Anything goes- cussing, violence, romance- but keep it in line with subeta rules oo4. You can have 2 characters, 1 dragon max. (so you can have like, 1 human and 1 dragon or 2 humans or just 1 dragon or human.) oo5. Have fun?
Setting
Post-apocalyptic Earth
There are several rebuilt communities with very advanced technology and architecture, but most of the world is in ruin. Animals are mutated and not at all like they were before the apocalypse. The sky is almost always tinged red, even at night. Two moons shine in the sky- one can be seen at all hours. Cars have been named obsolete and have been replaced by hoverboards and other smaller, more compact and swift machines.
The new civilization is all about smaller, faster, more convenient means of living.
Plot
Nobody saw the end coming, though really, they should have. Months before it came, people talked and talked about how they felt weird and off and wrong about everything. Prophecies were spraypainted on white brick walls, the most prominent being, "The Dragons will Rise when the Humans Fall." Still, no one saw the end coming, and in a single day, life was wiped out on Earth.
The dragons did not come, the humans inspected from the heavens. The Dragons did not rise as they had been told, but really it didn't matter to their bodiless forms. Until the gods decided to push them from the clouds.
The humans fell, alright- a second time, if you will. Some were given new knowledge and powers, while some were left to their old powerless human selves. For the longest time, they lived in as much peace as a post apocalyptic world could harbor; rebuilding and repopulating their new home.
Then, the dragons rose. The humans were split up- The Saviors, who protect the powerless, The Hunters, who hunt down dragons before they can reach their cities (and for a little bit a fame) and the Dragonriders, who tame dragons for their advantage.
A war is brewing between man and beast, and it's not going to be easy for either side. Because no matter how technologically advanced the new world is, there are still people who steal and sabotage and are driven by greed and the Dragons won't stop for them.
In fact, they won't stop for anyone.
The gods are watching with fervor. This is THE test. Are the humans meant to survive?
Character Info
Humans can have an ability such as superior strength or mindreading, but these abilities come at a price. Control over an element, which is usually very basic and weak, does not have any negative effects, though. (So one might get extremely fatigued after reading a mind, but nothing bad happens when a fireball is thrown)
To clarify, you can have both abilities and control over elements.
There can be dragonriders, but not every character should have a dragon. There are only so many "good" dragons out there. (Dragonriders and their dragons count as your two characters)
Dragons are masters at their elements. They're obviously physically bigger and stronger than humans, and are equally as intelligent. Only one element per dragon.
Saviors stay mostly in the cities, patrolling for whelps and other dangerous creatures that might injure the humans who weren't graced with powers. They also defend against larger scale dragon attacks. Savors tend to be technologically savvy, weapon experts, and especially good on hoverboards.
Hunters are outside of cities, patrolling ruins and hunting down dragons that are rumored to be nearby. Saviors usually post bounties for these dragons. Hunters are usually fast and specialize in ranged weapons and magics. They tend to hunt alone, and are heavily armoured with special Savior technology.
Dragonriders are rare. There are very few "good" dragons. They can be found in cities or out in ruins. They believe that humans and dragons can coexist, and try to prove that by, well, coexisting. They are sometimes feared, but mostly respected for their abilities to control dragons.

Name: Harlequin "Quin" Sartori Age: 25 Gender: Female Species: Human Rank: Dragonrider Ability: Telepathy- She can send messages to others minds. Flaw- She has to be touching them. Element: Air Appearance: (see HA) Quin is tall and well built, muscular but not crazily so. From her appearance you'd never guess she'd ride a 6 ton dragon, what with her soft curly red and black hair and smooth red eyes, her soft supple skin, or her feminine curves. The old fashioned yet elegant style she held onto from before the apocalypse and seems to be rather useful for hiding her various weapon(s) of the day... What with the long sleeves and skirt, there is plenty of fabric to hide who knows what with... Other Info: Her cat is named "Jester" he is a white persian mix..
Name: Demetrius "Demi" Age: Old... Gender: Male Species: Dragon Rank: N/A Ability: N/a Element: Storm (if thats ok?) Appearance: Demetrius Other Info: His loves small humans(children).. he likes to watch them..
Edit: I changed things abit, please look .
This sounds fun (: At first I was thinking of joining with a dragon rider and their dragon, but then I realized had the same idea as me.
Name: Robin Shades Age: 17 Gender: Female Species: Human Rank: Hunter Ability: n/a (I'm guessing they can't have both ability and element, either one or the other.) Element: Fire Appearance: Robin has elbow-length, coppery gold-brown hair and amber eyes framed by dark lashes. She's average height and is slim, yet strong, even though she doesn't show it. She wears a dragon-tooth necklace to show that she's a hunter. Wears full-length brown leggings tucked into supple leather boots, a white tank-top, and a dark jacket with warm fur lining. She doesn't wear much armor, since she's lithe and agile. Other Info: Robin is headstrong, and willing to take on almost any challenge. She prefers to be alone, especially when hunting dragons. When she was younger, she wanted to become a dragon rider, but her parents insisted she become a dragon hunter, instead.
Name: Ladon Age: Young-ish... around Robin's age in dragon years. Gender: Male Species: Dragon Rank: n/a Ability: n/a Element: Earth Appearance: Ladon is a scaled green dragon, with one amber eye and one milky-blue eye. He has a long tail covered in a row of straight, sharp spines. He has two rows of sharp white teeth , similar to his white claws. His underbelly is covered in smooth, thin scales and is a pale green color, the same color as his wings. Ladon also has a scar down his side, from an encounter with a dragon hunter when he was a baby dragon. Other Info: Still young, and not wise yet. Constantly being found by dragon hunters, and is currently being hunted by Robin.
My idea is that Robin is hunting Ladon, but grows fond of him and then they become friends and....etc. Over time. XD
Just gonna ping some friends,
sounds like fun! thanks for the ping (:.
Character Skeleton Name: Justin Levine Age: 18 Gender: male Species: human Rank: savior Ability: Forcefield/invisibility? If that's all right. I dunno I always thought those two go hand in hand ^.^ if it's not okay, I can just choose one Element: none Appearance: Justin has dark, longish hair that swooshes over his forehead. He is pretty tall at 5'8, and is lean as well. His best feature are his stunning blue eyes. He dresses mostly in black, with black jeans and a black t shirt with a black leather jacket and shoes. Other Info: he stays on the outside perimeter of the city when he has to, but otherwise he loves going into the forest.
Perhaps I'll make another character. I will wait until after more people join ^____^
join?? :)
tumblr //
Name: Irst Hayward Age: 23 Gender: Female. Species: Human. Rank: Dragonrider (once savior, turned dragonrider if that's okay with you) Ability: Healing, and to a certain extent numbness to physical pain. She can be killed from a fatal wound, but smaller things like burns and cuts/scraps are gone within hours rather than days. She used this ability to tame her wild dragon. Element: Fire. Appearance: Irst has very short dark brown hair, black eyes, and pale skin. She is 5'10", and roughly 150 pounds. She often dresses in shorts or fitted riding pants, with tops that range from orange to dark maroon. Other Info: Stubborn as hell.
Name: Econd Age: Adolescent. Gender: Male. Species: Dragon. Element: Fire. Appearance: Black scales, with a light gray underbelly, and red eyes. Other Info: Notorious for being wild and unruly. Irst and he don't always see eye to eye.
Characters look good. As a note, characters can have both abilities and elements, but abilities tend to be more physically/mentally taxing. Otherwise, everything seems good. As far as dragon ages, I'm not sure how to age them, so a simple young/old/adolescent type deal is fine with me. I'll post my characters and see if a few more people will join before we start. <3
Name: James South Age: 21 Gender: Male Species: Human Rank: Savior Ability: He can teleport short distances (Usually no more than three or four blocks.) His kickback is physical exhaustion, and in some cases, bad migraines. Teleportations of a few feet bear little negative effect, though. Element: Electricity Appearance: Here and Here. (He does wear a shirt, just to clarify. The shirtless sketches were initial character doodles from a while ago) Other Info: He likes to sit on rooftops and watch the skies, though they aren't much to watch anymore. He dreams of being a hunter or dragonrider, but there aren't nearly enough saviors around the city and he feels there are too many lives at stake for him to just stop doing what he does. He's an incredibly efficient savior, well known, and highly respected around the city. He's almost like the leader of the saviors.
Name: Firth Age: Adolescent Gender: Male Species: Dragon Element: Darkness Appearance: He's rather small for a dragon, maybe the size of an elephant, though he still has some growing to do. His scales are black, but in certain light, they shine blue. Two large gray horns sit just above his eyes, and the same color spikes run along his back in two lines that merge into one down his tail (if that makes sense). His eyes are bright green. Other Info: His breath burns like fire, but is black and blue. He's extremely irritable and cocky. He tends to stick around the city and has taken a particular interest in James. For that reason, he doesn't harm anyone in the city, but he flies around it quite a lot. Hunters are a different story- if a weapon is pointed at him, he will fight back.
may I join as well?
Name: Blair Bishop Age: 20 Gender: Female Species: Human Rank: Hunter Ability: none Element: metal [Appearance]: Blair is a woman of average height, with the lean and compact build of a runner. She has sun tanned skin, white blonde hair that has been cut into a pageboy style by a hunting knife and green-hazel eyes. Her most striking features are her skeletal looking metal prosthetic legs, received after she was mauled by a wild animal during her brief stint as a Savior. They allow her to fall from high heights without injuring herself, but they are quite heavy. She usually wears a leather, fur-lined jacket over a thermal shirt and black spandex shorts, with no shoes. Other Info: She's quite reckless and prone to jumping into action without fully considering the consequences. Combine this with a somewhat unsettling enthusiasm for hunting dragons and you get a woman who eagerly throws herself into life threatening situations - and enjoys it.
[flower=maknae]
Yep. Looks good. :D
I'll get this started up tonight if more people decide to hop on board, or tomorrow. I'm so excited. <3
OOC: Oooh the plot sounds good. :D Thanks for the ping!!! :D
Name: Cardine Rye Age: 17 Gender: Female Species: Human Rank: (Savior, Hunter, Dragonrider- if human) Savior Ability: (if human) Processes things (like, thinking, digesting food, etc.) + acts quickly (like, she can run in a flash, has quick reflexes, etc.). But sometimes she gets dizzy of everything moving so quickly. Element: None Appearance: Cardine has a tall, slim form for her age with long honey-blond hair and expressive blue eyes. Her style of clothing is casual, like t-shirts, jeans, and sneakers. Other Info: She generally has a calm, kind, and thoughtful personality. But she tends to overthink things drastically, sometimes causing her to break down. Her parents never give her attention so she's a bit clingy.
Name: Everest Age: Um...young, I guess. Like a teenager dragon. Gender: Male Species: Dragon Rank: (Savior, Hunter, Dragonrider- if human) None Ability: (if human) None Element: Water Appearance: Everest is a smooth, silvery-blue dragon with a lighter underbelly, a large lean form, wide claws, and a long tail. His eyes are a deeper shade of blue. Other Info: He's usually peaceful, simple-minded, reasonable and sweet-tempered like the water, but when he gets angry, all hell breaks loose. Beware of the storm that might rage in your path.
Are these forms okay? Tell me if I should change anything. :P
I hope it's not too late to join in!
Name: Sora Age: Adolescent Gender: Female Species: Dragon Element: Air Appearance: Sora is a white and red dragon with extremely small scales that make her more aerodynamic. On her chest, she has a strange black marking that looks like a V with a circle over it. Other info: She is very brazen, irrational, and cocky, often puting on a show by pretending to attack a city, then making dramatic escapes as Hunters and Saviors attempt to take her down. Because she has such extreme agility, much of the advanced technology can't keep up with her. She's never directly harmed a human, but that doesn't mean she likes them. She doesn't really hate them either: they're more of an annoyance that she looks down upon as lesser beings. Sort of like an cockroach is to a human...except the cockroach is a 4 ton fire-breathing lizard with wings.
Name: Melanie Fethrow Age: 19 Gender: Female Rank: Hunter (but aspiring Dragonrider. In other words, she wants to hunt dragons in order to tame them, if that's okay) Ability: Visions. Her dreams are always plagued by strange visions, which she unfortunately can never decipher until much later. These always leave her very irritable when she wakes up. Element: None Appearance: Melanie is tall and lanky, but very muscular for her age. She has very short black hair in a pixie cut, and even with her feminine build and facial structure, she is often mistaken for a boy. Typically, she wears camo pans tucked into brown combat boots and a tight leather black vest over a red tube top. She also wears a dark green tuque with the ensemble, and has fingerless black leather gloves. Other Info: She is usually very upbeat and absolutely loves collecting old junk from the pre-apocalypse era. Her most treasured item is a green drawstring backpack, in which she stores most of her possessions. She has always held the belief that humans and dragons will be able to live in peace, and strove to become a Hunter for that purpose. Of course, most others don't share this view, and she's developed a bit of a negative reputation. When she was very young, she had a recurring vision of a strange symbol that looked like a V with a circle above it. This plagued her until one day when Sora made a dramatic entrance in her city, sending everyone into a panic. She recognized the marking on the dragon's chest, and from then moment on was convinced she was fated to meet her. She has devoted all her time into hunting Sora, which is easier said than done. The dragon is too fast to follow, though she's obviously very easy to track. Sora has caught on to Melanie's pursuit, and though she's largely annoyed by it, doesn't see the human as much of a threat. She's not about to become friends, either, however.

Both look great! :D
When the gods threw me from the clouds, I got to watch my family disappear as I hurtled toward the ground. Sometimes I wonder if maybe they chose specific people to send down- people who could handle the dragons- but then I look at the muddied face of the Powerless and think differently. Simply put, they were probably laughing their asses off as they tossed whoever they damn well pleased back to Earth. I miss my family, and I miss the way things were. But accepting my fate is something I'm coming to terms with.
James South sat atop a building packed with the Powerless, watching the skies. He didn't hear the footsteps behind him, and so when a hand landed on his shoulder, he flinched forward and drew his gun.
"Calm down, kiddo, it's only me." A gruff voice said, and immediately, James was at ease. "Your reflexes are unbelievable. It's no wonder you're so good at what you do."
"Aw gramps, you give me too much credit." James said, returning the gun to it's holster. He turned to face the old man (who wasn't really his grandpa) and gave him a hug. They both took seats at the edge of the building and, for a time, were silent. The air was cold and crisp, and lacked the usual sound of distant dragon roars. "What brings you up here? Are the children getting too rowdy for you?" He punched Gramps playfully in the shoulder, and the older man pretended like it hurt.
"No, no, I just thought I'd check up on you. Any dragon sightings recently?"
"Ah, not today. I thought I heard the black one that sticks around here this morning, though. He's got an odd roar, that one. Rarely comes into the city though." James said. He hoped Gramps couldn't hear the disappointment in his voice. He also hoped that Gramps couldn't tell how much he wanted to see the dragon up close. He knew, better than most, that the old man was frightened and disgusted by the beasts- and wanted nothing more than to see them dead. They fell silent again, and for a while it stayed that way, but then a dragon bellowed his call and all hell broke loose.
It was a smaller dragon with bronze scales and it came hurtling into the city so quickly that James barely had time to react. He pushed gramps to the side as the dragon swooped. He didn't look back to see if he was okay as he hopped on his hoverboard. He couldn't see anything but the threat of the dragon in his city- too close to the Powerless. He leaned forward and his board zipped off after the dragon. He looked back for a fraction of a second. He nearly fell from his board.
Firth was sleeping when it happened. His eyes shot open when he heard a furious roar, and he was in the sky within seconds. Fights in the city were always interesting, especially since it was a chance to see the boy in action. He circled around the city until he could see the boy on his board and a bronze dragon- Akka, if he was correct- flying between the buildings. He thought to himself that humans were stupid for building things so high, especially with the threat of dragons, but watched with a smile as the boy maneuvered flawlessly through.
He could tell something was wrong though. He could feel the sadness in the boy's heart, even from so far away.
He would not enter the city though. He would not see why.
Too high risk, as it were.
(Lets get get some savior action in on this puppy :D )
Thanks for the ping, but I'm gonna have to decline (:
((OOC: Should we have a group ping for this? Awesome post by the way))

OOC: Ooh nice intro. :) And yes. maybe we should have a ping group? :)
BIC: A powerful roar rung through the air. Cardine looked up at the sky. The roar must've come from one of the more dangerous dragons. She gripped her hoverboard. Something...something pinched inside of her. She sensed grief...that someone had been injured. Or killed. By that dragon. Her senses told her to follow the dragon, even though she was meant to stay in the city and protect the humans without powers. Then, something bronze whipped by her vision. Then a boy chasing after it on a hoverboard. In a second, Cardine analyzed him and realized that it was James. It was probably that fact that reeled her towards the boy, speeding after them on her own hoverboard. James was a fellow savior and she hadn't seen him in a while. (is this ok?)
-- Everest's head turned up slowly from staring at the pond (are all the dragons gathered together?) when he heard the roar. One of the dragons had gone crazy, huh? He got up and looked up at the sky, thinking. Could he do anything about it? He didn't know. (sorry for the crappy post...not sure what to do with Everest XD)
OOC: Just decided to ping you all...because no one else did. :P
ooc; This is probably gonna be a crappy intro, since I'm feeling pretty braindead, but oh well. .___.
bic; Robin crouched down, her fingers lightly skimming over a footprint stamped into the pale green moss. It was clearly the print of a dragon. She had no idea how old it was, though; the moss was so delicate a footprint would stay imprinted on it for days. "Might as well follow the tracks, then," she murmured, standing up. Keeping her head towards the ground, she followed the trail.
She found traces of dragon here and there. Shed scales, droppings, nests and footprints. She had been tracking this particular dragon for months. He was incredibly easy to track, but incredibly hard to catch or kill. In fact, she had only caught a proper glimpse of him a few times. "Stupid dragon," she growled. Just when she was thinking of taking a rest, she came across a deer carcass. There was no doubt the deer was the victim of a dragon. She crouched down, inspecting the carcass. The raw meat glistened--the carcass was still fresh.
The carcass barely looked an hour old. The dragon had been here. Very recently. Robin continued to follow the trail when she felt a familiar vibration in her feet, pusling up from the ground. Thr dragon was even closer than she thought. The element that the dragon controlled was earth; he was able to manipulate soil and rock. The vibrations she could feel were the dragon manipulating the ground.
Robin broke into a run, eager to finally catch the dragon. She saw green scales shimmering through the trees, and slowed her pace. She silently loaded her arrow, peering through the foliage. She had a clear shot of the dragon. She pulled the bowstring back to her cheek, aimed for the dragon's eye, and let go. The dragon turned at the last moment, and the arrow landed between his shoulder blades. The dragon roared, lashing his tail back and forth furiously. Robin smiled, loading her bow once more.
--
Ladon bared his teeth, slamming a paw down on the forest floor. He felt a searing hot pain on his shoulder, as he was blasted by fire from the hunters palm. He growled as the hunter stepped into the clearing. He was sick of her! She had been chasing him for weeks and weeks, she just wouldn't give up. It's time to finish her for good, he thought savagely.
He swiped at her with one paw, but she ducked and rolled out of the way, behind him. Ladon whipped his tail around, quite surprised to hear a shout of alarm. He turned around, and realized that he had hit the hunter on the head with his tail. She lay on the ground, unconscious. He growled at her, taking her arm between his jaws and shaking it back and forth. He stopped when the sharp taste of blood filled his mouth. I suppose I shouldn't kill her. Maybe this will teach her to stop hunting me! he thought, letting go of the hunter's arm, which was now bloody and bruised.
Ladon looked around. He wouldn't stay in the forest, in case there were any more hunters around. He walked on until he spotted an opening in the trees, and took flight. He loved flying, almost as much as he loved being in the forest. He couldn't stay in the forest now though; not with that hunter tracking him.
Ladon stopped flying after a few hours, landing by a pond. He lowered his snout to the water, and lapped some up. He backed away from the pond and padded off in search of a cave or some sort of shelter.
((OOC: ...yeeeah. A ping group would be great xD Sorry for the long length.))
Melanie lay exhausted along a thick branch of an ash tree. Rubbing her eyes she shook off the remnants of her dream and squinted through the leaves at the sky. Holy mackerel, was it that time already? Half the day was already gone! Groaning, she fumbled around her waist for the release clip on the climbing ropes she had fastened around herself to prevent her from falling off the tree. In her opinion, hiding out in a tree was the best option in the wild. High enough that dragons on the ground couldn't see her, and low enough that beasts in flight couldn't make her out through the leaves.
After putting all her supplies away and taking a swig of water from her canteen, she took out a pair of knives and dug them into the bark of the tree to begin her descent. Geez. Everything was so much easier before all her supplies got destroyed by some jerk of a dragon. Now she had to navigate her way to the nearest town, without a proper weapon and on foot until she could buy supplies. So far, she was lucky enough to meet neither man nor beast, but that could change in a split second.
Melanie finally scaled down the tree and sheathed her knives, beginning her trek north for the day. She'd never been this way before, though she was pretty sure there was a city close by. And besides, as long as she kept going in the same direction, she'd run into a town at some point one way or another. Though to be honest, she didn't know how much longer she could last on these meager supplies. Suddenly, she heard an ear-splitting roar--and it was close. Leaping, she ducked behind a tree and drew one of her knives, the other hand gripping the trunk for support. For a few seconds, nothing happened and then Melanie heard a loud whoosh that made her ears pop as a large green dragon took flight. Luckily, she didn't think it noticed her.
After making sure the dragon had flown a good distance away, she turned to where it had emerged. The forest had gone silent with the beast's rage, and the only sound she could hear was the crunch of foliage under her boots. Crouching, Melanie slowly crept her way through the trees and reached a dip in the terrain. Peeking over the edge, she caught a glimpse of a limp female body, seemingly tossed to the ground. A bow lay a few feet away, and she could see a lot of blood staining the body's arm. Sliding down the hill, she ran over to the girl and removed one of her gloves. Putting her bare hand close to her nose and mouth, she could feel a soft stream of warm air as she exhaled. Good--she was still alive, though her arm was completely shredded. Examining her for any other wounds, Melanie noticed she wore a dragon tooth necklace. So she was a Hunter? Geez, she looked even younger than she was! The next moment there'll be five-year-olds flying hovercrafts and brandishing weapons at 6 ton beasts. That'll be a sight.
Cursing her luck for not having her supplies with her, Melanie looked around to see if this girl had a stash hidden nearby. If she did, it was either well hidden or very far away, because a quick scan of the area turned up nothing. Melanie didn't have any medical supplies with her, and quite frankly she wasn't sure what to do with a mutilated arm anyway. Now she was in a dilemma. Hunters hardly ever worked together for this very reason. The presence of a fellow Hunter in the area probably meant there was a town or city close by. However, moving her would take physical effort on her part, possibly upset the wound, and the pair would be completely helpless if another dragon came along. Then again, Melanie felt horrible at the thought of leaving the girl behind, especially so exposed like this.
Confound logic. She threw her pack beside the girl. In case she woke up, she would have some water with her and maybe a few useful supplies. Disregarding the danger, Melanie used her knives and scaled the tallest tree she could find, climbing even higher than the treeline. She winced slightly as the cold wind buffeted her face, but the cool air was extremely refreshing. To the north she could see the walls of a city about three miles away. If she hurried, she could get there in less than half an hour and get a Medic to tend to her. Hoping no dragon had spotted her exposed like that, Melanie descended and broke into a sprint. This was no time for stealth; she wasn't sure if the Hunter had much time as it was.

-- okay here we go. I'm exhausted, so sorry if it's a bit... poop ^.^' -- Rising up a few feet off the ground, Justin held his arms out for balance. He spaced his feet apart to comfort, and leaned forward slightly to go faster. Flying around on his hoverboard was his favorite thing to do. It was much more peaceful up in the air and wind, and Justin often flew around the woods to think. Dropping his arms to his sides as he gained more control, he zipped through the forest, startling some birds here and there. He looked up at the red-tinted sky and the large white moon hanging in the sky, as always.
Justin's peace was interrupted by a roar, coming from the thick forest below. He scanned below him, trying to identify where exactly the roar- which was probably from a dragon- sounded. A dragon wouldn't just roar unless it was being attacked and hurt... He thought, It's probably just a hunter doing their thing, He mentally shrugged it off and continued his flight. He stopped again shortly after as something shimmered in the trees and squinted, trying to see what it was. It wasn't until he saw the powerful green wings beating the air as it flew out of the trees until he realized it was a dragon. And it was bleeding right in between it's shoulder blades, where an arrow was stuck into it.
Justin froze in shock. If the dragon's leaving, it must have finished off the hunter. They hardly ever just leave a fight... Pushing his black hair down, he descended down into the clearing where the dragon had risen from, putting weight on his left foot. He slowed to a stop, but didn't step down on the floor. He looked around, alert and ready to fly off if needed. He heard the thud of something being thrown on the floor. He looked over just in time to see a girl run off in the direction he came from. He coasted forward, then his eyes fell upon a girl laying on the floor. He stared down at her for a moment, then up in the direction the girl had run off in. He then realized, as he looked at her backpack, she was probably getting help, not just running away. Coming down more so he was just a foot in the air, he hopped down, plucking his board from the air and flipping a small black switch to make it stop hovering. He set it on the ground, then kneeled beside the girl.
He gently touched her hurt arm, examining it. He was no medic, but he knew he had to staunch the bleeding somehow. He hesitated a bit, wondering if he should open a backpack belonging to a girl, but then just went for it. He rummaged through, setting some water down, but otherwise seeing nothing to useful of the medical type. "Uhhh... um.." He said, looking down at himself for anything useful. He usually had some basic medical supplies with him in his pack, but he wasn't planning on going too far today. Just a quick ride. He took off his jacket, and then his shirt, and then put his jacket back on over his bare torso, zipping it hurriedly up halfway. Justin folded the shirt in half and wrapped it around the wound, holding it tight. "Please hurry back..." He looked in the direction the girl had run off in, biting his bottom lip nervously.

Blair pressed the palms of her hands into her eyes, trying to dispel a rapidly onsetting headache. She’d been without sleep for almost two days now, hot on the trail of her newest quarry: a small, slender dragon with a dappled coat of copper and bronze. It appeared to be a juvenile: unscarred and unwary, and she’d been able to follow it across acres of lush forest flora without much difficulty. At least until it took off a few minutes ago. Blair had climbed an old dead tree to poke her head past the canopy, but only saw the glint of scales as the dragon flew into the distance and towards the silhouette of a long city wall .
Great. I hate it when they do that. Tracking an airborne dragon was Blair’s least favourite part of the job – days of arduous searching, meticulously canvassing the forest floor for shed scales and dung with little to no action besides the odd forest beast – and her temples ached just thinking about it. But I’m not letting him get away that easily. If the Saviours in the city caught sight of the dragon they’d surely bring it down, and she wasn’t about to let those sanctimonious pricks get her kill.
Blair deployed the claws in the balls of her feet, using them to anchor herself as she made her way down to the forest understory. She’d made it a quarter of the way down when her ears caught the sound of footsteps and rustling leaves. From her perch in the tree, she could see a lithe man in dark brown and black clothes speed through the underbrush. Another Hunter? It was fairly uncommon for Hunters to meet in the wilderness – and that’s just how Blair liked it – but this close to a city she supposed it was inevitable.
The trouble was that the other Hunter was running in her direction – and in the direction her bronze dragon had flown. Hunters had rules of etiquette when it came to hunts; to keep the infighting to a minimum. Blair was sure she had dibs. Retracting her claws and and releasing her grip on the tree trunk, she dropped the remaining 30 feet to land on steady feet. Blair raised her hands to cup her mouth and attempted to catch the attention of the approaching Hunter.
“Hey! You!”

The air was chilly even under the forest canopy, and it bit at Melanie's skin as she ran toward the city. As she went on, she noticed the gaps between trees becoming wider, and that the ground was more solid underfoot. The city must be getting close--and thank goodness for that, because she was beginning to tire. She heard something scrape and thud ahead of her, but she tried to disregard it. When time was of essence, caution was thrown to the wind. At least, that's what she was thinking until someone called out to her.
Skidding to a halt, Melanie faced a young woman a bit older than her. Breathing heavily from the sprint, she squatted and looked up at her as she regained the use of her lungs. The woman didn't have to say anything for her to know that she was a Hunter. Melanie knew it was rude, and it wasn't a very good way to give off a first impression to another Hunter, but she couldn't help stealing a glance at her legs. They were beautiful, post-apocalyptic prosthetics; not quite up to the standard of the rugged craftsmanship of the pre-era, but amazing nonetheless. Darn. If only there were some older, un-enhanced models around. Realizing she was getting distracted, Melanie looked up at her face and put on her best smile.
"Hey," she replied, matching the informal greeting. "Not to be rude or anything, but I have to get to the city as fast as possible. There's a severely injured Hunter back there and I'm fresh out of supplies."
