I don't know where this would go, but this is my first guess. Please move it if it's wrong..!
So I was reading an article.. about zombies. Yes, flesh-eating, brainwashed zombies. Do you think that zombies will bring the apocalypse? Or robots? What about overpopulation? Another alien species from another planet? Infertility? 2012?
How do you think the world will end? And if possible, why?
My opinion is.. well, nanobots (I read this off a different article :P- yes, I practically have no life, hm?). Nanobots could be used to rearrange atoms. Cancer, tumors, could be changed into something beneficial. Coal could be transformed into diamond.. and as time is passing, technology is getting smaller and smaller. And nanobots are so small, we can't see them.
But since nanobots are so small, we couldn't make them.. so nanobots would have to make themselves. So each tiny nanobot would be a factory of making nanobots. (Sorry if this doesn't make sense ;; ) And.. what if one was accidentally thrown away? It would start changing everything into nanobots.. trees, sidewalks, humans.. and Earth would be consumed by tiny, small robots.
Your views?
Global warming/overpopulation Basically, the heat.
Too much people. We won't have any room, New Yorks popping up everywhere, global warming increasing. Chain reaction because heat can't be absorbed by concrete and glass, the city. Pretty soon we're going to melt on the streets.
Pleasant, no?

Pleasant. That is possible.. but what about ocean/space colonization..? About when do you think it will happen?
I especially love the 'stupid people'.
The ocean will be one boiling soup. :P Well, I'm no scientist, but possibly in 10-15 years.

well basically the economy and environment will both collapse (slowly) under the reign of a corrupt politician. BUT by this time we'll have found another planet to live on so we'd just move there. probably start life over again, like when we came to earth from mars.
Ah. But by that time, won't people have already created solutions? Since science is moving faster and faster these days..
So you think China will take over or America will just.. die?
Yeah.. so you think people came from Mars? XD
True. How much time do you think we have left?
I dunno. ._. But I think.. America has a lot of influence... so if America goes down... other places may too. I dunno. I`m not really an expert on this theory. 8c
But... after collapses...rebirth happens. Not sure if it`ll be quick. Probably slow...
I dunno, I could see it happening in my lifetime Nuclear weapons weren't even thought of until about 70 years ago, and technology is evolving faster than ever WHO KNOWS~
A solution to the power of the sun? I doubt that.

Hmmm, my probable belief: Something to do with global warming and how it's messing up our weather patterns. I'm no expert on the matter, of course, but I'm already noticing changes in the way things are working around here. I wouldn't be surprised if, within some years, there is a mass storm of sorts and most of the population is wiped out.
Improbable belief: Alien invasion. Because, to be honest, if a hostile alien civilization has the technology to arrive on Earth in force, there is literally nothing we can do about it. They would probably have the technology to completely obliterate us from the earth's surface with the push of a button. THAT'S frightening to me.
I don't really have much faith in the whole 2012 thing. I'll believe it if said alien civilization starts to appear on this planet, but otherwise I'm skeptical. If anything, the most I believe will happen in 2012 is mass suicide because of all the panicking people not wanting to live through the horrors of the Apocalypse.
[Edit] Because it's late and I don't know my grammar, obviously. Also forgot the ping.

I like how you say this so casually like it's something we all experienced last week. Sorry, no. Humans did not come from Mars, and it is unrealistic to believe that anything further than a small mining colony at best, will ever live on another planet. It's neither economically feasible, nor desirable, almost impossible altogether, and finally, far far faaar more difficult than simply fixing up the earth we've already got.
Life on other planets is nothing but a pipe dream for nerds.

As for my answer to how we'll die: not sure, really. I can easily predict multiple reasons why an incredibly large portion of us will die off- the most obvious being the loss of all arable farming land over time... but there are so many solutions to all our problems, it is very difficult to pinpoint the very end, as easy as it is to predict some obvious "crashes" in the near future. Odds are that even at the very worst of times we will still have at least a few million people on this planet.
Gunna have to say WW3. War has been changing since the American Civil War, and the current Iraqi war is different as well, there almost no honor and the tools we have now are capable of much larger atrocities then ever before. In ww2, even Viet Nam to some degree, there were limits on what he could achieve with our weapons. Now its hard to say what would happen if all out war broke loose, not a war against natives and guerrillas, but a war against an industrialized country as powerful as our own. I think if we have a WW3, which, given the earth is currently a powder keg is fairly likely, that we're all going to kill echother, or kill the planet in the process. Any war that reaches a global scale in this day will get out of hand way too quickly, the violence committed will be alarming, genocides by massive bombings, and let us not forget, 1 person fires a nuke, another person does, and then theres nukes everywhere, we all go boom. Even if we survive as a species, the earth will never be the same, societies will crumble from such a war. I personally can rather easily see a distopian world forming from this mess. Whats left of the global powers will bunker down in their homelands, marital law will be instated in many places, a few cities will remain in a broken down world where global trade, which will no longer exist, will completely hault the economy.
That or America nukes everyone, takes over and we all grow so fat on bigmacs we all die of diabetes. :B

Over Population can be controlled, its called war. It'll be pollution that'll actually kill us all.
wow, oddly specific lol
Overpopulation, war, and a governing system that really isn't going to hold up forever. I don't think we'll even really have a chance to be melted before we blow ourselves up in a frenzy. I'm frankly optimistic in my idea of how the world will end, because I think humans still have a good century or two left in them, but I just can't imagine humans - as we are now - making it to the year 2500.
But who knows. Maybe we'll change something, put a cap on the amount of breeding retarded people like John&Kate and the parents from 19 Kids and Counting can do, do the whole 'World Peace!' thing, and figure out a way of managing ourselves that isn't doomed to failure.
Also, I'm thinking a better bartering system couldn't help, or little less effort in pointless studies about chickens and a little more research into how we can stop ourselves from killing everything we find.
