i apologize for not using correct grammar, etc.; i just had surgery on my left arm where they moved the nerve into my muscle so i have to type one handed. i am still in a cast. i will be healing and unable to type or use my arm much during my final semester at college here. i will still be healing 2-3 years from now. i will never have full strength back in my arm, some pain at times as well as months of physical and occupational therapy.
there is this one chick in my hallway in the dorms i live in that is very inconsiderate. i live on the first floor and there are only two hallways in my suite, for a total of nine girls, and each room is a single. there are only four girls in my hallway. now, this one girl is a freshman and moved into our floor in the middle of last semester. we keep our hallway, suite and bathrooms clean and tidy. we each have one week a month in which we clean our hallway's bathrooms. it has been no problem and the girl definitely does her part to clean.
however.... when she cleans, she moves my things. i don't mind if you have to move my things to clean so long as you put them back. but when you put them under the sink, in the hallway or in the cabinet, i get pissed. she has done this before and we have talked about this before and i thought we were okay. she said that it is not just my bathroom and i can't have my things in there. she said it's nasty and gross and i need to keep them in my room. i said it is easier for me to keep them in the bathroom because i only have one hand, and to have them stay on the counter because, again, i only have one hand. i don't make a mess, i don't leave my things unorganized and although i can't help clean the bathrooms this semester, i have cleaned them last semester, bought supplies and used my racks to store them so they wouldn't be on the floor. anyway, i only have a few things on the counter in one bathroom and a small, low shelf in the shower for my shampoo, soap, loofah and razor. that's it. here is a picture of what i am describing:

sorry for the horrible quality; i took it on my ipod.
does that look like a lot to you?
anyways. so she said i basically needed to move my shit because it was in the rules. i said no, it is NOT in the rules; it is suggested you bring a caddy for your things, but you can leave your things in the bathroom at your own risk. they are not harming anyone, nor are they in anyone's way. so i said i will bring my razor out of the bathroom but everything else stays because: it is not just her bathroom, either, and i talked to the other people in the hallway and they are fine with this. they are also my friends and understand my situation. i was talking with my dad on the phone when she knocked on my door. i said she could come in and she did. my dad could hear her and was pissed. he had me on speakerphone and was downstairs in the kitchen, and i talked to my mom after and she said that she could hear her talking from all the way upstairs in her bedroom. they said it sounded like she was yelling at me but i am unsure. regardless, i talked to her in a calm manner and did not call her names or anything. i even thanked her for coming to me and speaking with me about it, but i said that my things will stay where they are now and she said for now.
was i in the wrong? what should i do if she does this again?
[edit]
We came to an agreement at last, which was that she wouldn't touch my things if I only kept my toothbrush holder out there and put my razors, mouthwash and floss away. Okay, I did that. She moved my stuff again multiple times and I got fed up with it. Just now I went to her and asked why she wasn't following the agreement. She said that she was and that she gave student tours which required her to have clean bathrooms, hallways, etc. Clean, not empty. She kept insisting that it was a rule that you couldn't have things in the bathroom and of course there are no such rules; I looked in the student handbook. I told her that I didn't want her touching my things any more because the least she could have done was tell me that she didn't want my things in there when she gave student tours. Too bad, so sad for her because I am putting my things back in there. She has no right to touch my things, it is not just HER bathroom either, I had surgery just four weeks ago, a seizure last week as well as having to go to the hospital for the same arm I had surgery on because an inside stitch was coming out and re-opening the wound.
Anyways, so I looked at the Student Handbook again and guess what? It didn't say anything about that. I looked all over the site and nothing. I e-mailed our CA (community adviser) and called her as well to let her know that the girl was harassing me, intimidating me and not making my environment a safe or peaceful one (which are all against the rules in the student handbook!).
When I told that chick that she wasn't going to touch my stuff any more, she flipped the fuck out. She said that I couldn't stop her and that she would touch it any way, and she told me that before, too. I said whatever. She kept talking so I said I don't care, shut up, shut the FUCK UP! Then she said she was going to touch my stuff right then and went into the bathroom to do so. Guess what? I followed her and closed the cabinet and said, no, you're not. She left and said that when my back was turned she was going to put it back. That's when I called our CA and e-mailed her. Hell, I could have called security on her ass! But I didn't. I will if she threatens me again.

If she starts turning into a bitch, and harassing you, gather the rest of the group and talk to her in front of them, up front, and honestly. Having the group behind you in front of her will be a very good way of making her realize that she doesn't have the support to be miserable. You aren't being unreasonable. If everyone else has said all is well, then she can shove it. Majority wins and you aren't leaving a gigantic mess. If it was a situation where you were being a big pig and leaving everything splattered everywhere then I could see it, but it isn't just her bathroom, you all chip in to clean and keep things neat, and right now, you need things easier access. If she can't understand that then I hope she never hurts herself or needs a little lenience in her post-care after a surgery.
thank you. we did have a meeting with everyone in our hallway before but i guess if it needs to happen again, i'll set up a meeting time. i don't wish nerve pain/damage/surgery on anyone but if she ever needs to have it, i hope she looks back on how she treated me and feel shame for her behavior.
i guess i'm just upset about the fact that she doesn't really seem to show any compassion for my situation.

ugh, inconsiderate bitch. if she's so adamant about such things, she should be available for you to tell her when to move your stuff in and out of the bathroom, seriously. (unlikely, but it sounds about right)
if worst comes to worst, call in your residential advisor if you have one, if nothing else works.

I don't suppose anyone has any advice on dealing with a mega-ultra-annoying bitch, do they?

the only thing I can think of is to possibly get a new suitemate. I've had a similar problem and know a few people who went through something like that, and in all the cases I know it ended with one of them moving. It's my impulse that if I can't handle a bitch myself, I go straight to a higher authority and get a solution asap. Don't wanna get in an actual fight, especially since you just got surgery and she seems to have a temper. Talk to your CA and see if they can't help you work out a better agreement or something. Idk what the power of a CA is where you're at but there's gotta be something they can do.
That's what I'm thinking Hopefully, the CA will help. I also sent an e-mail to the director of resident life, explaining my situation. I wish that person would move out but I don't think she will. She's a freshman (I'm a senior) and she had already moved into the room from a previous room. It wasn't working out, apparently. I don't know what else to do; I'm at my wit's end. Perhaps I should duct-tape my thing to the granite counter and also tape the cabinet shut? :P I think I might actually do that...

That would actually be pretty awesome to see what she would do! :'D As long as you can't get in trouble for using duct tape on school property, that would be hilarious and it would also let her know you're serious. Though if she really does need the room clean for her tours, I wonder if they'd make you remove it.
I wonder if she'd agree to put your stuff back in its place when she wants to move it for a tour? But I feel like it's a little past the negotiation period of the argument. :/ Getting a CA involved sounds like it'll get the best results. Good luck! :(
She just needs the room clean. That doesn't involve moving my things because my things are a.) sparse and b.) clean. She doesn't hide the other stuff in the bathroom. And no, I can't get in trouble for that because I'm not damaging property. It's duct tape on metal. C'mon.
Anyways, so I did use the duct tape to shut it, and I also taped down my tooth brush holder and floss packet. I taped my mouthwash around and put tacks around it. Finally, I smeared honey all over my things in a very thin layer, so if she touches it she won't be happy :P I'm so evil. Clever, but evil.

That's amazing. xD My dorm is pretty strict about room damage so I wasn't sure, but it's great you can do that. I wonder if she will give up when she sees it, or flip out again? Please do tell! I love the tacks and honey, lovely touches, I love the way your clever but evil mind words. :D
Ah man, your post made me really happy for some reason lol ^_^ I bet that she will flip the freak out and try to confront me. I am SO evil and clever, indeed. Hahaha... /crazy
I'll try to take a picture lol. I can't WAIT for tomorrow morning!

Ah yeah, pics if possible! She will probably think twice about messing with your stuff. Hopefully she doesn't retaliate though. That would be a very heated prank war.

Do you see the honey? The floss package is shiny. And you see the tape? I put some honey where I couldn't put tape and tacks on the mouthwash. Yuppers. It was fun, but now my arm really hurts :(

I just don''t understand WHY she's being such a bitch. I just don't get it.

You and me both, hon. She could at least have some goddamn compassion for me! I had a seizure last week and surgery four weeks ago! The healing process is 2-3 years for me! And yes, I've explained all of that to her. She gonna change? NOPE.

Major kudos to you though, I've never experienced a surgery like that but it seems like you're handling it fairly well hug Also, I love your handiwork with the thumbtacks ;)

Why thank you, m'dear ❤

Definitely talk to your CA about getting a new suit mate. Things are only going to get worse and with you just having surgery you don't need that stress on top of things. Also have all the girls with you in a group meeting and try talking to her again. Remain calm when doing so but this way you have witnesses if things get nasty.

Bahaha, you are so diabolical c:<
Question: can the honey give her an actual reason to complain? It appears to be dripping onto the counter, so maybe now she can use the argument that your stuff is making the bathroom messy :c I just don't want this to backfire on you.
