So...most people dont think anything of this...but heres the story, so we went to walmart and bought one of the little hand held ones and it worked like crap...we needed a small one so I wouldnt have to haul out the big vacuum to do a spot clean...well...like I said it was crap, didnt get enough suction...so we returned it...
My hubbies parents dug in there pile of stored stuff and pulled out a handheld vacuum that looks like this:
The Hoover Portapower!!!

LOL...take about vintage :D I love it...but I swear it weighs more then my other vacuum...looked it up....it was made in 1975!!!! so...my long story fact...
Im disturbed by the fact that Im using a vacuum cleaner that is OLDER THEN I AM!!! Just a weird fun fact...
YAY VINTAGE STUFF!! But it works well...snickers I know not many will care...but I had to get it out of my system...LOL

Haha. Hey, if it still works good, that's all that matters, right?
They don't make stuff like they used to. My parents still use things they bought back in the late 70's, early 80's. If it works, don't fix it.
Love your hedgehogs by the way :)
thank you dear...I love your gif!! and ya...its kinda funny..but its one of the reasons I love getting old stuff from thrift stores etc. its built to last and not like...meant to break. LOL XD then again original retail price of things were a bit higher so it was they better last or else! LOL XD
SORRY!! EDIT: thanks on the hedgie compliment :D
and heck yes! thats what makes old things great! :D

Haha, I have an (ugly colored) handheld mechanic mixer that's around the same age as your vacuum - it still works and I love vintage stuff anyways so it's cool to have it.
That's hilarious. I'm assuming it works better than your other attempts? We are still using a mini fridge in my basement that my dad used when he went to college. It's at least 30 years old xD It only has room for a couple packs of soft drinks and a few water bottles bahaha it's so little. But all we really need in our basement.
that is so awesome!!! I love hearing that Im not the only one with old stuff..and that it still works! I figured out a like...5 or so years ago..that everything older is sturdier and better...my hubbies parents also found this table I needed for an aquarium (20 gallon with gravel and excessories=200+ pounds) no normal table from today could manage that weight without being uber expensive...well he finds a table at a thrift store for 3.99 usd and me, my hubby and him all set on it at once...table didnt budge...Im like...NOW THATS A TABLE! XD

Thanks. That gif cracks me up almost everytime lol.
Yeah, things were built to last back then. When they broke, they were meant to be fixed, not thrown away and replaced. I love going to thrift stores and seeing what turns up. They are such great places.
totally agree...and I try to take apart the new stuff because I was raised to fix it...I get made when they build things in cases that cant be opened and cleaned etc. they want you to replace it...its kinda sad if you think about it though...

WowXD
I like to hang onto things until they are past dead myself. My laptop I've been using for 4-5 years has had to have been repaired twice (once because of a virus and another time because the hard drive just crapped out). It's my little baby and I can't imagine it not working one dayXD
aw it's so cute, it looks like a little mail car!! also, is that your hedgehog? SO CUTE OMFG
YESSSS!!! my computer is old too and I keep repairing it and keeping it up to date...lol...Im not that old...but IN MY DAY! lol..you didnt buy a new device each year ya know?
it so is! its horrible!
OMG your right! I didnt see that! XD thats awesome...my hubby says I should strap it to a skateboard so I can drag it around LOL XD I told him I need a strap so I look like I have the old cellphone brief cases XD and I wish it was my hedgie!!! I am going to be getting one in the future (love hedgies) but I have to many animals that are basically rescued or abandoned in my house I tend too...I want to be able to give my hedgie full attention.. :)

TrueXD
And I just don't like updating unless I'm forced toXD
indeed...they just keep coming out with new things...like every 6 months..im sick of it! LOL

I do...I just think its funny its older then me...LOL XD I love vintage stuff...and I also think its amusing its not...necessarily easier then my regular vacuum...but hey...at least I got a spare..XD

lol! to use is as a backup is a good idea :P i personally would have used it as my main instead of a backup :P
because i dont think right XD and vintage stuff is cool looking O3O, that vacuum makes me want to have one that is older than me too just to keep it around for show!
my hubby says I should strap it to a skateboard...LOL..I mean 9 pounds isnt bad...its just not exactly as...portable as it was back in the 70s XD but it is cool...:)I like to have vintage and distressed things around just for show too...its awesome, and tougher...LOL XD

woah 9 pounds that is almost as heavy as my cat o-o lol your hubby is funny when he says strap it to a skateboard but hey maybe it is a good idea roll it around with you XD....but then again it wouldnt be called a portable vacuum if ur dragging it around like a normal vacuum now would it owo;;;
