EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE it's almost time for kittens! My cat Smokey has been pregnant for just about a full 10 weeks, and boy are we both ready to get these kittens out of her. A friend of mine was joking last night "It's like she's hoarding them at this point."
I'm really, really hoping the purebred Siamese tom is the dad, because she is dark grey, and wouldn't those kittens just be AMAZINGLY CUTE ARGH.
Well her labor symptoms just started! I'm not entirely sure where she'll give birth, I have a basket all made up for her but for now she seems very happy sitting on my big plastic drawer that's sitting on my desk. She doesn't seem to be too uncomfortable yet, so hopefully it will go smoothly! It's her first litter, and she's young, so she shouldn't have any problems! I'll post pictures of the kittens when they get here!

Update 1: (6 hours in) So far not much has happened except that I have chased/pulled her out of every nook and cranny in the house, and have now blocked everything off. Including behind the bookshelf in the hallway, behind the TV, behind my clothes rack, and had to help her pull herself out of the hole in a cinderblock because she tried to climb through it to get behind the bookshelf, and her belly was too big, and she got stuck halfway through. Kind of like Winnie the Pooh, half on each side XD. Now she's confined to the front of the house. She seems to have finally settled on the corner of the living room, between the side of my couch and the wall, for her nest. I moved the end table out of the way and put down a towel, and she keeps going back there. Of course she doesn't want the lovely basket I prepared for my her convenience, and I have to crawl over the couch to get to that spot, but it's better than behind the TV! So far she's only meowed a few times, and quieted down quickly when I scratched the top of her head. She seems to be going back and forth between really needing comfort and wanting to hide, like she can't decide which she prefers. She's mostly just been licking and cleaning herself like crazy. She's trying to get in a quick nap now, although I'm pretty sure she's having light contractions. This is taking forever, I'm exhaused XD
Update 2: (13 hours in) 2 kittens have been born! Her labor was very hard and intense for the first kitten, and she was so miserable. She wanted me right next to her petting her and scratching her head, and she just meowed silently and was so upset. She had a difficult time getting him out because he was breech, feet first. Then as soon as the first kitten was born she was so excited and happy, and after she cleaned him off she curled up around him and napped for awhile. About an hour later, she had the second kitten very quickly, in under a minute. Now she's cleaning them both and purring at the top of her lungs <3
Final Update: After 17 hours of labor, Smokey finally delivered the third kitten! It was breech as well, feet first, so she had a hard time with that one too. She cleaned him off and promptly fell fast asleep with all three kittens nursing, such a proud mama! It is very apparent that the long hair black/white tom is the dad, not the Siamese. But that's ok because we ended up with a grey and white, a black and white, and an all black, and they're all adorable! Today she has left the nest twice to get food and water and some loving from me, and she's just so proud of her babies. It's really quite funny, the look of pride and happiness she gets on her face when I peek over there and tell her how proud I am of her beautiful babies XD

Awwww! Those two would make really cute kittens, and completely envious of kittens in general. So excited for you. ^_^
eeeeeee thank you! She's doing great so far, wants lots of head scratches and love. She got off the desk once to get some water, but she jumped right back up. I put her in the basket when she got down, and she stood in it for a few minutes, so she doesn't seem to mind it at least. When she really starts the labor, I'll move her into the basket so she doesn't have the kittens on my desk XD
I don't know how I'm going to give them all away, honestly. I know I'm going to want to keep one XD
But she wants your desk, and to be with you... and probably will go into labor to spite you once you're asleep, or have to go away for a few minutes.
At least you'll have time with them before you find them homes, though that might make you bond with them a bit more and want to be the soon-to-be crazy cat lady.
yeah, she definitely wants to be near me. And no worries, I went to be early so I'm up for the day now. I'll probably take a nap later, but I'll be up for hours, so I'll be awake for it. Even if I have to drink coffee! LOL.
Yeah, I'll have 6-7 weeks with them, and I'm going to try and be good and not name them, but I know realistically I'll just be snuggling with piles of kittens all day pfft.
A pile of kitten pillows sounds just... amazing.
I can't stop squeeing in my head XD I'm trying not to do it out loud so I don't bother Smokey lol.
I'm hoping for no more than four, and I don't think there will be. Although her belly is definitely full of kittens, it's pretty big and her sides are all lumpy! So I don't really know. I never felt more than three moving around though, so hopefully she won't pop out like a million! XD
Aww.. no 101 dalmations miracles going on in your cat? I guess that's good. But.. think of the pile of kittens!
haha no hopefully not! Yeah that pile would be great when they are about 3 weeks old and cuddly, but not so much when they're 4-6 weeks and climbing all over the house while I try to wrangle them XD
And might have a bit of kitten pee all around, too. Hmm. It'll be a great few weeks, either way though

I'm a little obsessed with cats right now, I've been watching a lot of this program called My Cat From Hell with Jackson Galaxy and even when they're being really naughty I can't help but awww at them.
nothing much has happened for the last two hours, she has mostly been napping on the coffee table. She's having contractions though, she keeps twitching XD This is taking a looooot longer than I thought, but apparently cats can be in labor for 12 hours or more, so I guess it's normal. I just assumed it would be like bam and KITTENS but nope, she's taking her time :P
