In regards to creating CWs, we all know there are rules that need following, One of those rules is "must not edit the Human Avatar Base"

Now, this rule seems to cause a lot of mischief. Mainly because it doesn't actually... clarify a lot.

A while ago, me and proposed a set of small elf ears, only to find out that they wouldn't be accepted as they broke that rule. And I've seen other items, such as eyebrows and lips and the like, be denied for the same reason.

But then there are items like , and that are allowed in just fine.

So, for sake of preventing confusion and frustration among prospective CW artists, could we perhaps be given a list or something? Something that lists exactly what does and does not count as "editing the human avatar base" because right now, it doesn't give a whole lot of clarity.

Something like:

These items do edit the base and would not be accepted:

  • Ears
  • Eyes
  • Eyebrows
  • Lips

These items do not edit the base and can be accepted:

  • Blush
  • Muscle tone
  • Cheekbones
  • Freckles

And so on.

The reason I ask is because most of the items I want to submit are somewhat iffy with this rule, and I'm not sure it's even worth proposing some at this stage.

Such as body/face scarring. Does that "Edit the human avatar base"? Or is it fine? How about finger/toe claws? Tattoos? Body paint? A broken nose?

Thanks.

I am pretty sure they said somewhere it is judged on a case by case basis. Also, I believe they take into account how you justify the item not altering the base, but being added onto it. For example, Caleb made her wing CIs not as feathers, but as Serums and Pills, so it skirts by being an edit, and instead is an addition. Same with Fuzei's wings, which were an injection needle I believe.

For the blushes, those are applied on top as well, which is why they probably got away with it.

so if we resubmitted the elf ears under like "elf blood extract" and stuck it in a gnarly looking syringe, then it may have a chance of being accepted?

Possibly? I don't want to say anything positive and then be wrong because that suck for you, but that is what I believe should work. Do you have the original denial for the elf ears?

we never got that far. We submitted them as a proposal and got somebody saying "these alter the base" and never bothered submitting them.

No harm in trying, though? Gonna ping bout this, see what the vurduck is

I think if it was possible then would have made elf ears looong, long ago. ;)

Hey guys! The easiest way to decide if something 'alters the base' is to figure out if it changes a physical feature, especially LIMB, of the base! So elf ears aren't allowed because it alters the actual physical ears on the base. Eyes and noses aren't allowed cause it alters the base facial features. Replacing an arm or a leg with a metal one again is changing a limb, so it doesn't work! Wings tend to be okay, even ones that cover the arm, because they are -entirely- covering it - more like a sleeve than an alteration. Again, this'll always be judged on a case-by-case basis, and it's something we've been discussing behind the scenes! But that's generally a good rule of thumb to follow :D
