I don't think it has to be visible, you can wear it under other layers I'm sure. I would imagine it's coded like the masks and hex items :D

yeah I've tried that though and it made the other colors like... it made it seem like I was focusing too much on the yellow or the dark pink. Kind of hard to describe. Like it made those colors pop too much and made it seem unbalanced. Gah it's driving me crazy.
