Hey all. I used to play Subeta a few years ago, and stopped. Im a loyal neopets player thats been playing for 13 years, and if you have real words/names over there its a big deal.

Is it the same for Subeta? Are real words and real names/places a thing over here? Thanks!

It is a super crazy big deal here too. Some people who have really sought after names get tons and tons of messages saying "Hi I just wanted to say IF Amy was ever up for adoption I would loooove to have her, wink, wink, wink." Lots of people hoard good names so it's very competitive. Another big thing here is certain Pet ID numbers to correspond to their character's birthdays/a special event in their life. Also the smaller ID number the older the pet so those are looked for like crazy.

Certain names are more sought after than others but for the most part I would say not as much as neopets. Of course there are names that are really popular and words that are really inspirational to a lot of people so those will always have people who would want them! However, on this site you can find hundreds of untaken real names and real words. They just sit there for months or years until the right person takes them. (Unlike Neo where basically every single word/name is taken. And also on subeta you can't trade pets for pets so you can't use pets as currency which is cool.) This site doesn't have as many members and so it's not like a huge big deal if you have a real word since you can basically make one at any point if you wanted. Also, I think that names that users come up with themselves are given more credit here. The system for putting names back into the site is way better on subeta! If someone is inactive the names get put back into the system for someone else to use and the profile will say what day and time the names will be available which makes it fair for everyone who wants to try and get one. :) I have quite a few real words and didn't have to fight anyone for them but I really enjoy them. There are a couple that are already taken and I would love to have but at the same time there are other's that are just as awesome so I'm happy with what I can get.

Thanks guys! I like that system of putting them back so others may enjoy them. Neo has just gone downhill, although I enjoy the site. I would love to come back to Subeta at some point!

There are some names that are really thought after, but as Iridescent says it is a lot harder to get nice names on Neo than here.. at least it is my impression. Also there are a lot more people begging for Names on Neo ( I got several mails begging vor Ares on Neo) the here. Actually I never got a beg mail of somone on Subeta. Normaly people here seem to respect, when a name is taken and that names clear after a year of inactivity makes it a lot more confortable for people to be able to snag nice names.

I put forth that IDs under ~100k on Subeta are a roughly comparable trend to real names / common real words on Neopets. The latter are more accessible here, and though, like people said -- a few really popular names get a lot of attention -- many of those names cycle frequently.

The real beast about IDs is that so few are left, and as time goes on, fewer rotate around for adoption. Their value goes up as the pool gets shallower.

(weep Not enough pet slots).

But as says a lot, pet value here is kind of totally irrelevant at the end of the day. Because we don't institute a trading system like Neopets, pet value has no real significance beyond tickling to giddiness the immediate owner. There's not really the social stigma found on Neopets due to the lack of this avenue.

Oh man, Neopets is ridiculous with the real name / real word stuff. I liked being able to trade pets, and it was nostalgic for me so that was fun, but oh my god.

I feel like I've been able to get cool names with a ton of personality on Subeta easily. I found Poopsie, Juju, Grimey, and Astro Boy in the adoption center. So I don't think real words and names are a huge deal on here.

Neopets is insane about pet names. I don't get into the pet trading thing for my own personal reasons.

Here on Subeta though, I have found it easier to get the names you want. For instance: Thora and Adriane were both found in the adoption center.

Of course, when an account's been inactive for too long, pet names are eligible for taking and then there's a lot of competition for the name(s).

How long need an Account to be inactive to release the names?

12 months / 1 year for both inactive and frozen accounts.

An account must remain inactive for 1 year to be eligible. If an account hasn't been longed into for 11 months, and the owner suddenly logs in for a brief few seconds, then the timer will be reset.

I would say yes but it's so different! People are always adopting out really amazing pets w/ very little requirement and you can constantly find neat RWs/RNs that are purging and untaken.

I'm also on neopets but I love subeta a lot more for this reason. It's so much easier to create a pet here. You can throw an 's' or an 'ing' on a really common word if you want a nice name for a pet that fits a color or species. :)
