As a fairly new person, I've found I've had to frequently seek information on 'google' to help me understand some areas of the site. It would be nice if were a little more newbie friendly.

I can imagine that Subeta is pretty confusing for a new user but have you checked the Subeta F.A.Q. for example? It's one of the stickied topics over at the Help Forum and has a lot of useful information to offer.

Oh, and welcome to the site!

Thanks, I try to read a little on the forums each day. I'm gaining ground, albeit slowly. Might be my advanced age :D

Sorry you've been having such trouble. I'm twice (or more) than the average age here. :)

There's a Subeta Wiki, and a fansite Subetalodge. Did you get the option to do a tutorial? I know they used to have one, but even when they created it I was old hand so it never triggered for me.

Major Drills quests can help you familiarize yourself with parts of the site, and Sarah's Quests can help new players make sP. Subeta has tons of currencies, but one of the major ones is available through Wizard Quest. There's enough of us in Help & Questions that between us all we can usually answer a question fairly quickly, but your account may not be old enough to start a topic yet.

Thanks for the info on Subeta Wiki, and I've seen the Subetalodge one as well. I think making SP is the easiest part of the site :D

Is there any breakdown on how the battle arena works? Weapon recommendations or anything like that for newer people? I get challenged once a day minimum, but hesitate to go since I am not sure how it works.

The General Battle Opponents Guide is great for familiarizing yourself with who you'll be facing, and the Weapons Advice thread is great for building a beginner battle set.

There is also of course the stickied list of posts in the Battle forum that are helpful!

I'm moving this to suggestions and ideas in hopes of getting more feedback, because this is something I've wanted to do for a while now--an even more expanded "welcome to Subeta/here's the ropes" kind of page. Do you have any suggestion as to what format would be helpful?

I'm the kind of person who is pretty quick to tl;dr huge paragraphs and will fast forward through plot on video games. Would something that is essentially more of a checklist, with expanded information and vital links, that marked off things as you did them be something that you think would be helpful? I'm thinking things like:

  • Restock 20 items from the main shops (includes a link). (The main shops are run by the shopkeepers of Subeta and are a great way to begin to familiarize yourself with the thousands of items you can collect. It's also a great way to start building up your sP stash!

  • Create a pet (includes a link). (There are so many pets on Subeta, here are the ways to get different species, colors, extra pet slots, etc.)

  • Play NAME OF GAME (includes link). (This is another great way to start earning money!)

  • Post on the forums (includes link). (Come learn more details of the site, make friends, and ask questions on our forums!)

Each expanded option would obviously have more information, I'm just trying to get the gist of it in my head out there! Is there another format that would be helpful?

Being fairly new as well I think this could help a lot, as well as maybe a short explanation on places you have to unlock (since I've found almost no information on maps and the like.)

, I think something like that would be great. The first day I came, I figured out how to create a pet fairly easily, and even figured out that doing quests would make some quick SP. But, I couldn't figure out about the maps, what 'cults' were on forums (still don't really get that concept), how the auction works (no one seemed to post how much they want roughly). I'm kind of getting an idea about the battle area now, but I feel like other than playing some games, making SP, that there must be some pretty cool things I'm missing.

I'm for it. Besides I don't need a tattoo and the additorial don't go further before you have taken one. An other point. Sarah doesn't tell where you can find her when you do her quests next day, when you are new. It took me much time when I have found her. But in the mean time I was already too rich to do her quests. LOL!

Things like that are super helpful for me to know! It's so hard to figure out what's hard to use when you're just used to it by now.

I'll definitely make a post in the welcomes and introductions forum as I'm working on this. I want it to be as helpful as possible!

I'm not sure if this was mentioned and I missed it, but what about throwing in a list of dailies?

Ex: Shinwa (every 24) The Ikumodreekinox tree job agency training (and where to find it)

Hell, I have to google where some things are because I can't find them on the maps lol

and maybe info about csc? (buy it, earn it, etc)

I've always thought there should be a tutorial to introduce people to the basics of battling. Give them a few basic weapons to equip, walk them through using the armory and applying a mod crystal for the first time, then have them take part in a scripted battle. After that, direct them to the Healer, unlock all the basic opponents, and let them loose in the coliseum.

You could also maybe touch on training (and tiers), boosters, battle tokens, and explain that there are occasional battle events to look forward to.

I don't know how hard something like that would be to set up, but I think it would really help newer users. There seem to be a lot of people that avoid battling because they just don't understand how it all works.

Thank's It's a pleasure to help you too to give feetback. I reading a little by a little in the forums and I learning still about of the knowledge and the experience of other users who are longer here :)

There is also an other point.

I'm happy with Soerda, I have created. So it's oké, but I was able to keep my patient to adopt a pet over at least two weeks. I can't even further on if I didn't create Soerda first.

It's better you have got the choice to create or adopt. If you make the choice you prefer to adopt a pet over two weeks, you get an temporary standard-pet to praktise and when Sarah has let you feet and play with the temporary pet, the pet dissapear automatical and you can go further on with the additorial.

God, have them finish the checklist before you set them loose on the world. I'm really sick of all the same questions (ones that ARE actually answered in the tutorial) being asked in the SB. "How do I make sP?" "Do the quests, games, polls, etc. in the tutorial." "Blah blah blah" "Do the tutorial. Just do it."

I don't understand why this topic even exists. There's a huge tutorial given by Sarah the moment you join that takes you through all this. The only thing that could be added is the battling/training. Other than that everything is explained and given to you on a silver platter upon start-up. I don't know what else could possibly be needed.

Besides, linking people to everything is not helping them, it's holding their hand asthey ccross the street. It's better if you gave them step-by-step instructions on how to find each area so that they know for future use instead of linking them and the player then comes back saying, "Oh I lost the link for such-and-such. May I havr it again, please? " That's not helping at all. Linking people to things rather than giving them the steps/tools necessary to do things on their own causes more harm than good.

Also there are newbie guides written by players and guides for pretty much everything on site. What more do people need?!? Everything's already handed to everyone by way of guides. I just don't see the need for anything more unless it's giving piles of sPs out to every newbie that comes along.

I am perfectly fine if someone tells a newbie of a guide. Help yourself through reading as many user-made guides as possible first. THEN, after you have, and you still have questions, I'm only too happy to help.

I kind of agree with this. yes, FAQ's exist, but most of them (even the main newbie ones) don't address lots of basic questions about the site. Sure, it covers general topics, but not everything.

I'm thinking specifically of the newbie walkthrough. I like that there's a walkthrough and it's pretty easy to follow, up to a point (Do a Sarah quest! Play a game!), but the walkthrough links to a task but doesn't explain where that task lives on site just in case you need to find your way back to it.

For example, the walkthrough suggests doing a Sarah quest. Okay. Follow the link to the quest, follow the link to the the shops, buy the item...and then it dumps you back out in Shops and the walkthrough doesn't re-supply the link back to the quest. I spent two hours paging through the entire site trying to find where the heck the Sarah quests lived just to try to get to it in time. Suffice to say I failed that quest and got incredibly frustrated clicking everywhere on the maps.

To add to the frustration, I couldn't post a question because of the newbie posting restrictions, and I couldn't find the answer in any of the FAQ's.

Sooooo at least a more link-friendly and/or cohesive newbie walkthrough might be nice.

Clicking around the site is the only way you'll learn. I didn't get help with the tutorial, I did it on my own. If everything regarding who the the whole site works is just handed to you, there's no learning or exploring involved. It's all done for you. "Welcome to the site, oh and by the way, there's no need for you to learn how to do anything on this site. We've done it all for you. Just read all these guides, do all these tutorials. We've even linked everything for you so there's no need for you to even need to look yourself! Isn't that great?!?"

...where's the fun, or better yet, learning, in that?!? -_- headdesk

I'm not trying to be mean but practical. If you click on the help forum, the first four threads all have huge amounts of help in them. There are also guides to pretty much everything at the top of each forum depending where you go.
