I think it may be time to consider asking the community the way you do with pet revamps before costume and NPC revamps can take place. Allow people to suggest what would work best and listen to the community before pumping out revamps that are just nothing like what they were. Some of the new shading and line art that is being released on old items don't match the new style the game has taken. Not smooth enough, too shiny, or a little out of place. Some of it doesn't quite match the quality the old items possessed. Some just look nothing like the item originally loved. Perhaps try making a forum for new changes before they are implemented into the game, because with so many artists questioning a lot of the revamps, and people who were happy with the old ones not liking how new ones sit, it's time to either realize the old line art wasn't the problem and just fix the shading and thin the lines, or let the community allow pre-emptive feedback. The reason revamping properly is so important is because many people are trying to make specific looks based on these items or npcs, if they change, they are unable to create that look any longer

I strongly disagree.
I certainly haven't agreed with every change made lately. Some of the item revamps have sucked, IMO. I've disagreed with site and forum changes. I've complained. I haven't liked all the NPC changes. But a common theme is that I don't like change! I don't like having to get used to a new way of doing things or getting used to new looks. Some things have grown on me and changes I didn't initially like, I've come to appreciate. Some things I still hate. But none of that really matters. The point is I shouldn't have a say in some things.
You can't please everyone with everything, you can see that in comments whenever there are major changes. Always someone loves it, someone else hates it. But someone has to decide, someone has to lead and make choices, and sometimes those choices are going to be unpopular. A site cannot be run efficiently or effectively by everyone using it (or at least not by that very vocal minority who scream at each change).
Having some input on pet changes is a great bonus, and I think its good for the site. People adopt pets, make them their own and changing pets is a pretty big thing for a "pet site" and so input from us makes sense for that. But everything else? No. Its not something we should feel entitled to.
That's not to say we can't complain and point out what we think are problems, that's why we have "bragging and complaining" and "feedback" forums. I just don't think every change should come up for a vote.

Literally nothing would ever get done. This gets suggested every time there's a controversial revamp, and it's just not feasible, or even reasonable.
already covered pretty much everything else I had to say on this. Strongly and completely disagree.

My thoughts exactly.
Do I agree with everything that gets revamped? Of course not, but I still don't think that means the site needs to consult with users on issues like NPC Revamps.
In the case of art errors, I don't think it's bad to point them out political e lyrics in order to see them fixed.
I'd prefer having back versus expecting staff to run every changed item by the players, who will never all agree on something.
Even released revamps that people didn't like. :) This has been the case since people first decided they didn't like change (a billion years ago) and will continue to be the case.
We work for the majority, and continue to push out revamps that we feel fit the general look and feel of the site more. Revamps are also a great way for us to revisit things we'd released years ago (clothing especially) that we've learned a lot of new tricks even in the last year that help us a lot there.
We are very aware that every time we push something out that users are wearing / have adopted / have gotten used to giving them quests there is going to be pushback. We're pretty confident in ourselves usually, though!

The Giselle Snowshoe revamp really upset me. I had just gotten the set completed when they did the revamp and completely trashed what I wanted to do. The bonnet especially is a nightmare. I never would have bothered with it if I would have known they were going to uggo it out.
This is ridiculously impractical. You're asking that not only do things get revamped, but the artists should waste their time redoing anything that the vocal majority dislikes?
There are a lot of things listed as examples in the OP that I love the revamped versions of (the Jar of Dirt especially) that there was a lot of uproar about. Likewise, there are things that I would have used had the art just been updated, but that I don't like the redone versions of. Tough.
You can't please everyone and catering to the vocal majority is just not a good way to go about business imo. It's a giant waste of time whenever something gets revamped that people don't like. It got the okay during the behind-the-scenes process, that's going to have to be good enough.
The Darkonite's original revamp poll was announced on January 9, 2012, and it had two more polls before the revamp finally went live on May 13, 2014.
That's an extreme case, but can you imagine how long it would take for revamps to happen if we had polls like this not only for pets, but for clothing, items, and NPCs as well? D:

It doesn't have to be a poll but at least say: HEY we're looking to update this, here's a sketch of what we have so far, are there any MAJOR things that are TOO dissimilar to the old version? No? Then release. Bam. How is that SO inconvenient. I do that all the time when I draw.

The npcs....HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Did you not SEE what happened when Skitters got revamped?? Petition and they STILL kept him that way saying there was nothing they could do.
I don't blame them for not doing this^ They probably don't have the time working on so many other things. I don't think they can just cater to the whims of a group of people so freely.
Well.. I think in the case of a "drastic" change like the Giselle snowshoe set it would be nice to have input.
However for the NPCs.. I feel like staff have been pretty good with the NPC revamps, especially the ones by who tends to keep the same colours and pose. :)
Hell no.
I don't like every revamp either, but if the community had a say and there were polls for every. single. revamp. nothing would ever get done.
Oh please no. :c Revamps would take forever.
You may do that with your sketches, but this is their job, as in they make hundreds of art pieces for Subeta, and revamps are just one of the things they are tasked with. Putting one aspect of their job completely on hold while a tiny portion of the user base hums and haws over "oh this could go there, well I guess that could be nice" is a waste of their time. I've never seen a single revamp that has gone without complaints, it is what it is.
As much as I would like to have my opinion heard on every revamp before it's implemented, in the end it's just not practical, for the reasons others have stated.
Besides, even if the artists did go looking for feedback before having a revamp go live, particularly for NPCs, they should disregard anything about the styling. Instead, they should only consider anyone noticing anatomy errors that they themselves hadn't been aware of, or shading mistakes, that kind of stuff. I'm not necessarily questioning the abilities of the artists but sometimes other people notice things that you (general you) don't.
And let's not beat around the bush here, we all know this is about Maleria's new nose. That's just the style of Maleria now, and from what I can tell, it will not be changed. I don't see any problem with the other NPCs listed in the OP either.
I'm not going to say anything about the items listed because I don't know what they looked like before and have no opinion one way or another.
Revamps need to happen, if we waited to give our opinions on things before things even got put on site, we'd get no where. Someone might not like the glean on an item someone else might not like the colours on it and another might not like how it's positioned on the human avatar. This applies for all things.
Don't like an NPC's change, simply block the image. Don't like the revamped wearables, don't wear them, there's bound to be something else out there similar to it. Don't like something else, it should be fairly easy to ignore, solution for everything.
I don't like change either, but it's just one of those things that has to happen and I know that I can definitely complain with the best of them.

I’ve already posted this before but I’ll say it again — We do listen to the feedback for revamps. I’ve talked with the artist about changing the Luxe Belt to fit the old style more, but possibly keeping the new art as a new line of items (which was suggested by a user because some people do really like the revamp). She's actually already finished the overlay and is working on the item art. :)
I personally wouldn't mind a feedback post for possible revamps on NPC's only. Not items. And the only reason why I would want that is to help fix some of these anatomy issues that keep cropping up. Charity's head shape, cheeks, eyebrow situation, tiny neck... Maleria's awkward body pose and eye positions... Cinthia's entire face/head/ears... Nori's odd anatomy like her neck that's even thinner than Charity's, and whatever is wrong with her arm and forehead. Hell, Fantine's neck is too thin as well. Bobbleheads are adorable on chibis, but these aren't chibis. There's so much with many NPC's that could be fixed and each feedback thread has shown it.
"Asking the community" sounds like a delightful idea in theory, but in practise it really does end up rather a mess. You have hundreds of contradicting opinions all fighting with each other to be heard, and then you have to remember there are hundreds more people who are fine with things the way they are but don't speak up to SAY that because, well, they're fine with things the way they are.
We have to make decisions as staff members to put out what we think is the best thing to put out. Obviously sometimes there are going to be things that get through that are disagreed with, and we have changed things in the past when we recognise that we have disappointed a large amount of people (and it's something we do feel could be altered again - sometimes we know we're going to disappoint a lot of people but we have to update some very nostalgically loved art in order to move the site forward) - but we cannot and will not further edit every thing that is released because there are some users that have voiced disapproval. We cannot put each piece of art to a vote - as someone else stated here, absolutely nothing would ever get done!
There are a few things listed in the first post, but those are such a small selection in the hundreds of pieces of art that have been updated in the last few months. And even if we don't alter an item this time, we take it into account what you don't like so we can avoid disappointment on future revamps.
