The belt received a lot of negative feedback, but nothing like the revamping of Cynthia in toy quests. Staff never even addressed that.

- Actually, the artist went back and redid Cinthia's eyes in response to the negative feedback. Here's the original revamp, and this is the updated look (the one that's on-site right now).

Actually, we did. even posted the change between the revamps. I'm not sure sure how much was actually said on forums/news comments, but we did update Cynthia after looking over the comments.

"Asking the community" sounds like a delightful idea in theory, but in practise it really does end up rather a mess. You have hundreds of contradicting opinions all fighting with each other to be heard, and then you have to remember there are hundreds more people who are fine with things the way they are but don&;t speak up to SAY that because, well, they&;re fine with things the way they are.

Sadly, it would end as a really negative thing if we all say something about every revamp :/ Some people would want it this way, some the other way .. Not everyone can be pleased. I'm happy to see that we are heard sometimes.

Agree fully with the quote above ^

Allow people to suggest what would work best and listen to the community before pumping out revamps that are just nothing like what they were.
This isn't entirely feasible because, even if people were to suggest what they wanted, there would be so many different suggestions to sort through and it would be an inconvenience to the artist. Plus, you can say that revamps are "nothing like they were," but in the end, Maleria's hair is still purple, she still has wings, she's wearing the same dress and the same gloves, and all that the gripe really is about is her nose. Really, what is so different?

Some of the new shading and line art that is being released on old items don&;t match the new style the game has taken. Not smooth enough, too shiny, or a little out of place. Some of it doesn&;t quite match the quality the old items possessed. Some just look nothing like the item originally loved.
The whole reason that art is revamped is because the old art is deemed outdated. You wouldn't expect a revamp to look exactly the same as the original art, and you have to accept that updating art implies that you're going to have a difference in the look of the lineart and coloring. That comes with the territory.

Quote
Perhaps try making a forum for new changes before they are implemented into the game, because with so many artists questioning a lot of the revamps, and people who were happy with the old ones not liking how new ones sit, it&;s time to either realize the old line art wasn&;t the problem and just fix the shading and thin the lines, or let the community allow pre-emptive feedback.
This has been said many times, but this is just not time-efficient nor practical. No one is going to agree down to a T what's wrong with the art. It's not that easy to "fix". You may think that the "old line art wasn't the problem," but someone else will think it was.

Plus, when feedback from the community is exceedingly negative, changes are made. (RE: Cynthia's eyes)

I do understand that you're trying to get the voice of the community to be heard, and that is a lovely idea, but you have to consider why it isn't done already. Someone's always going to be unhappy in the end - it doesn't matter if you have a forum to discuss changes or not, some people will pitch a fit when they don't get their way, regardless of if they had a say in changes or not.

All in all, I think it's great that there's a feedback thread to begin with and the staff takes into account what we like and don't like. But you can't expect that to mean that, in place of a command decision, instead staff will read every single post and make every change (impossibly) all-pleasing.

Thanks for the info! I had stalked boards for quite a while after the initial release and nothing was said or done while I still had hope. :P It's good to hear it was acknowledged.
