Two 12-year-old girls from Waukesha, WI stabbed another girl 19 times over the weekend.

The two claim that the attempted murder was so that they could become "proxies" for the mythical Slenderman. The victim was found saturday morning with 19 stab wounds covering her body, one missing a major artery near her heart by mere millimeters. She is now in stable condition.

First of all, what the hell is wrong with these kids? Even at 12 years old i wouldn't have believed that Slenderman was a real thing and even if i did, i wouldn't try to kill someone because of it. Second, just how much hell are the Marble Hornets/TribeTwelve/EverymanHybrid/etc, etc. guys gonna get about this? Third, I did some googling, and where this happened is about 15 minutes away from where I live. Thankfully, not anyone I know.

What the fuck man

I can't believe she survived 19 stab wounds. If I was so inclined to believe that kind of thing, I'd say someone's looking out for her

They ruined their lives. I love how they use "incident". It's a plotted act, and one of them stated that she hasn't had remorse. Go to juvie, see if Slenderman is real now.

I'm glad the other kid is fine.

I'm disgusted that two 12-year olds have been put in adult court. This means that they are in an adult jail right now. Twelve year olds with hardened adult criminals and they haven't even been proven guilty yet.

Sure they 'confessed' - but research has shown that the most vulnerable to false confessions are children. Only one girl confessed, the other girl was shown the first's confession, simply agreed with it and provided only vague details.

There are reasons for a separate juvenile justice system, the main one being that a twelve year old's brain simply does not work the way an adult brain works. Children are more vulnerable in so many ways both physically and psychologically. There are protections and services available in the juvenile system that these kids will not be able to access. Guilty or innocent, they deserve the best defense possible, and as children in an adult system, they won't get it.

Slenderman is a fictional monster/demon thing that was created for a photoshop contest. It lives in wooded areas and kills people (mostly young children), according to the story. There's some youtube series about it, Marblehornets being one of the most popular ones. It's 100% fictional, but I can see why the kids would believe it's real, because the series is really well made, and done in the first-person camera thing like The Blair Witch movies.

Absolute bullshit that they'd try to kill somebody because of it, though.

This is messed up as shit. Even if I believed something at the age of 12 I'd never have even thought about acting upon it in that way, going as far as to hurt another person. O.O

I was reading with such horror but I'm sure anyone who saw me at the moment of reading saw my face turn to relief when I read that the poor victim is stable in hospital. Upon seeing the title, I assumed that the victim had died.

...

I really don't know what to say to this.

I mean on the one hand I know very well that their brains aren't fully developed and they really shouldn't be tried in adult court- like, at all- but the other part of me says YOU DON'T FUCKING STAB SOMEONE NINETEEN TIMES REGARDLESS OF YOUR AGE.

There's another part of me that wonders if they're being manipulated and/or are mentally sound. I wonder about psychosis for example.

Then the spiritual part of me wonders if they made a pact or something with something they shouldn't have been messing with... or contacting at all...

I'm no law student, so I may be completely off, but I'm pretty sure that if they were tried in a juvenile court system, they would be free when they turn 18. They are being tried in an adult court system to ensure that their sentence continues on after their eighteenth birthday. Just because they are tried in an adult "system" doesn't mean they go to adult jail. They still go to a juvenile center until they become of age, and then they go to a regular jail.

Which I think is completely fair. No way should they be let out once they turn 18.

These 'children' were clearly PLANNING on murdering their friend, as evident by their extremely lengthy and detailed confession. It was premeditated. This is NOT a typical juvie case where a kid stole and crashed a car like an idiot, or graffiti-ed something, or stole from a store. This was the planned killing of another child as some sort of sacrifice to an imaginary being.

"Geyser and Weier originally had planned to commit the murder at 2 a.m. Saturday, according to the criminal complaint. They'd duct tape their victim's mouth, stab her in the neck and pull the covers up to make it look like she was sleeping. Then they'd run.

But the plans changed after they'd been out rollerskating Friday night. Instead, they'd try to kill her in a bathroom at a nearby park the next morning. Weier knew there was a drain in the floor for the blood to go down, she told police."

These monsters need to be tried in adult court for their crime, so their sentence is fully carried out for a good amount of time. People under 18 are frequently sent to adult court if the crime is heinous enough.

I really hope the stabbing victim pulls through and is not permanently debilitated. =|

i literally have no words to explain what i just read? these girls entirely deserve to be locked up for a very long time but i'm glad the other girl was found alive and i hope she makes a full recovery...

in cases where the crime is especially horrible, children can be tried as adults. a premeditated homicide such as this displays a very "adult" way of thinking that most of us would attribute the older criminals. as said, they will be in juvenile detention and then moved later. it's no light decision to try people under 18 as adults (and in most cases they don't) but it would be unjust and improper to try attempted first degree murder in a juvenile court when it is very much an "adult" crime.

Great just what we need kids trying to do things in the name of what is essentially someone's made up story. So now we'll have a war on being creative and watching out on the fact someone "might" think it to be real and not make our ideas too wonderfully done :/

Seriously they KNEW what they were doing. I say no remorse for them give them the full sentences they deserve. Do the crime do the time.

Plus don't they know Slenderman is more likely to kill them than dub them into his schemes?

FINALLY GOT THE 15K WARDROBE DONE!!!!! Next up gutting and selling it.

No, children tried in adult courts, in the US, can go directly to adult jails. They can also, while still presumed innocent, sit in an adult jail while waiting for their trial. A lot depends on the state and what facilities are available to them and how much latitude a judge has. But a judge in adult court has way less latitude than one in the juvenile system.

In the US about 1% of people in adult jails are juveniles. They are at hugely increased risk for suicide, rape, and other physical assaults.

If they are tried as juveniles, they stay at juvenile facilities until they turn 18, at which time they are transferred to adult jails. They can be jailed until they are 21 (the age may vary by state, I'm not sure).

Yeah, this whole thing is crazy. I lol'd hard at the fact that these girls are twelve. Where the fuck are their parents? And there's nothing in this world that's more true: Attempting to murder someone is just plain INSANE. It's not right, no which way you slice it. And there was no one around to tell these girls it's just an urban myth. Like, really. That's all that Slenderman is. He's like the boogieman born again. And reborn again. Kids, adults even, need things like that around for the rush of the spook. The thrill.

The things people do in real life are far more scary than any story, book, or movie.

I just don't, and never will, understand the thought processes behind someone doing something like this. How does anyone, even a 12-year-old, decide to go through with something like that? I mean, the stabbing alone, knowing that someone decided that was the thing to do, is impossible to understand, let alone the reason they did it. I mean, Slenderman? Really? Next we'll see someone shooting someone because fucking Rainbow Dash told them to do it. It's just fucked up.
