Camp Taewonaka is a place where teens from all over come out to spend their summer in cabins and make new friends. Most have been forced by their parents, but some have gone the previous years and had a lot of fun, choosing to come back. The camp is mostly just for fun, and there are plenty of activities to keep you busy all summer long. Sometimes, kids even sneak off campus if they've driven there and party it up somewhere else.
There are rules, though, and if you break them, the counselors won't be all too happy. You might be sent home, and told not to come back..
And ah, summer love. People find new crushes almost every time they visit.
But it's your choice on what happens! Do you go wild and crazy, make the best of your time at camp, fall in love, or keep to yourself?
Rules: -Have Fun -Ask to join -Semi-lit -Ask to be someone else's crush/partner and make sure you update your skeletons. -Do not take someone else's crush unless everyone is cool with a love triangle. (if they are or not should be posted in your skeleton) -You can play as many characters as you can handle -No GM/PP -Even number of boys to girls

Photo (Real-Life only) or Description: Poppy
Personality: She's always been a wild child, untouchable and fun to be around. She likes the fast life, but that's not to say she isn't down to earth. Sure, most of the time she has her head stuck in the clouds. She is a dreamer, and likes to believe that one day she's going to change the world. The way she holds herself is what attracts most people to her. She loves danger and taking the lead at all times possible. She has a whole lot of nerve, and will stand up for what she believes in. Music is a big part of Poppy's life, and she is always one to be seen at concerts and occasionally raves. She can sing well herself, but has immense stage fright and wouldn't be caught dead singing in front of crowds.

Name: Isaac Jones Age: 17 Gender: male Photo (Real-Life only) or Description: Isaac about 5'9 Personality: Isaac is down to earth and loves to play video games. He enjoys flirting with girls and swimming, though he doesn't get the entire hipster thing. He likes to stay away from people like that and considers them to be hippy wannabes. He enjoys a good debate and can't be swayed easily, along with things that are hard to get. He won't lie to a girl about what he thinks and will be brutally honest if he has to. He hates liars and those who try to impress people with lies. Relationship Status: Single Crush: N/A Okay with Love Triangle? (Yes or No): Yes Reason for coming: He came last year and wanted to come again.
Name: Nova Andrews Age:18 Gender:Female Photo (Real-Life only) or Description: Nova Personality: Nova is very guarded when it comes to new people. Nova is afraid of being hurt like her older sister, and often expresses this to her cousin, Ashlyn. Nova doesn't let many people in and keeps to herself. Her daughter is the sunshine of her life, especially when her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend gave her a hard time during their senior year of highschool (during that time, Juliet was in the custody of her Aunt and Uncle). She certainly likes to be wooed and proven that she can trust someone. Though she really can be a nice genuine person when she feels comfortable around people. Relationship Status: Single Crush: Okay with Love Triangle? (Yes or No): No Reason for coming: Her cousin Ashlyn sent her to meet knew people and maybe find a guy.

Name: Jenna Brooks Age: 17 Gender: Female Photo: Jenna Personality: Jenna likes to have fun and will go to great lengths to get that rush. She likes parties, which is why she often gets in trouble with her parents. She's also an avid concert attendee and can never get enough music. She also plays guitar and sings a little, but she's not very confident in either of those skills. Jenna is generally friendly and outgoing, but shies away from really attractive people because they make her feel inferior. Relationship Status: Single Crush: N/A Okay with Love Triangle?: Yes. Reason for coming: Her parents sent her so she could get away from the whole "partying scene" and all her friends which are apparently "bad influences."
Name: Evan Simas Age: 18 Gender: Male Photo: Evan Personality: He's a typical teenage boy: outgoing, sort of funny, flirty, and mildly popular with a little bit of overconfidence. Evan is never intentionally rude, but has a pretty bad memory and forgets when he makes plans with people. Because of this, he's always late. He skates a lot just as a hobby and has been best friends with Jenna since they became next door neighbors in elementary school. Relationship Status: Single Crush: N/A Okay with Love Triangle?: Yes. Reason for coming: Jenna begged him to come after she was forced to by her parents. He agreed just for the hell of it and to get out of town for a while.
May I join, you always gotta have that antagonistic character around. I may make more characters, probably another guy to help balance the gender scale.
Name: ‘Lucius’ (short for Lucifer) Blackwell Age: 18 Gender: Male Photo (Real-Life only) or Description: Personality: Resentful, judgmental, negative and mean spirited. He is often described to be a rather antagonistic character that sees more cons in people than pros. Being a highly observant character, he tends to outright look for faults in others and exploit them if they ever dare to spite him. But he is not a person who goes to great lengths to hurt people, unless they need a taste of reality, like most bullies would do. At times he can cooperate for the sake to ‘get things done faster’. If you think about it, he is a bit of that stereotypical mean spirited rich kid that most tend to dislike but he does not aspire to draw attention to himself, he just wants to be left alone. He is a very intelligent, cultured and sophisticated individual who does views himself ‘higher than thou’ but not far from being mundane, he likes reading and does tend to be a bit wordy. He is a very classy individual who, when he has to be affable, can be very well-mannered and polite. Much to everyone’s distaste he will arrogantly educate others point out their flaws and at times many are forced to ask advice from him for he is rather an expert at breaking people down and making good educated guess on what they desire. He is no longer wounded by others who try to turn the tables and point out his faults, mostly because he is already aware of how cold he really is. He is a jerk but he is not a liar. Relationship Status: A singularity Crush: no one (would be neat to see someone try to break him) Okay with Love Triangle? (Yes or No): he hopes not (but yes) Reason for coming: Being forced to socialize for once in his life.
May i join?
Name: Savannah Marie Harris Age: 18 Gender: Female Photo (Real-Life only) or Description: Savannah Personality: Savannah is a loud mouthed troublemaker. She tells you exactly what she thinks of you and pays no mind to the consequences. Say the wrong words to her and she wont hesitate to swing in your direction. But, on the opposite side of the coin, Savannah can be the sweetest girl ever to her friends and family. She spends her time listening to music and looking up the latest fashion trends. She used to take boxing lessons, but was told to stop after one too many fights at school. Relationship Status: Single Crush: OPEN Okay with Love Triangle? (Yes or No): No Reason for coming: After having a blast last year, she decided to come back for more fun, drama and parties.
Name: Delilah Maxwell Nicknames: Del, Lilah, Lily Age: 18 Gender: Female Photo (Real-Life only) or Description: Delilah, about 5'4, petite Personality: Delilah is sweet, if you get to know her, but you'll have to approach her. She's shy, to say the least, but if you talk to her, you'll realize she's quite intelligent. She was raised in a somewhat wealthy family and is rather sheltered, and therefore very curious and open-minded. She'll almost always try something new at least once before saying no to it. She trusts easily, having been raised with no problems about trusting the people she's surrounded by, so she's also somewhat naive. She is easily intimidated, but stubborn as a mule- she can and will hold grudges, as she is prideful and hates to be embarrassed in any way. Relationship Status: Single Crush: N/a, open Okay with Love Triangle? (Yes or No): Yes Reason for coming: She spent the majority of the last two summers at home, as well as moving states recently, so her parents thought getting her out of the house would help her out socially.

Name: Oliver Cher Age: 18, turning 19 in late August Gender: Male Originally from: Alberta, Canada. His aunt and uncle live down in the states and he often gets shipped down South of the border to spend the summer with them. Family: Mr. and Mrs. Cher, Aunt Tabatha (Auntie Tibby) and Uncle Jack, his fat calico cat Alton, and Robert the sickly little carnival goldfish that somehow lived past the ride home. Oh and his older brother. We just don't talk about him. Photo or Description: Oliver looms a few inches over 6 foot with ashen cut hair and pale skin freckled with light sunspots that are often missed from afar. With his colored contacts on his eyes are the same crystal blue as the ocean and upon removing them --which he rarely does in company-- his sectoral heterochromia is made visible in that nearly a quarter of his left iris is a warm shade of brown (eye color ref). Along with the marking on his eye Oliver's body harbors two tattoos. The first one runs across the top of his back, a small forest scene lined with flitting smoke birds, fading out into the sky. (The tattoo looks similar to this as a forest instead of a haunted house with a line of birds like this that tail off into billowing smoke much like the cigarette smoke in his first ref image). The second tattoo is two lines of stitches between his shoulder blades in the area wings might have been had he been an angel. He doesn't talk much about either of his tattoos, nor does he show them off if he can help it. Personality: Most often you'll find Oliver sitting along the sidelines with a cigarette in hand. With his over contemplative personality and a sickening addiction chasing after him it's not hard to see why upon first glance 'stony' or 'cold' might be the first description you give him. It's not the most accurate way to describe him even if you never really get to know him. In between his trains of thoughts Oliver sports a very welcoming smile amongst a laugh or two directed at himself and almost forgets the upward tilt of his lips until his thoughts bring him down again. He's not really an open person, but he's not judgmental of what other people chose to share: instead Oliver is just a bit of a loner by choice and more lost in himself than anyone else. Despite his preferences to be alone, Oliver does know how to socialize when in the right mood and he does know how to take a stand for himself. He just comes off rather sluggish and thoughtful while he does so. Hobbies: Sudoku, word problems, problem solving, thinking, plucking out blades of grass, smoking, keeping a journal, exploring the land around him (normally for a quite place to relax) Relationship Status: Single Crush: None Okay with Love Triangle?: Yes Relationship Others: You don't have to ask me before dragging Oliver in as a crush or trying to pull him into a love triangle but also don't expect that because someone has a crush on him they'll work out. Gender pairings make no difference to me either as he has had his fair share of bi-curious moments. Reason for coming: His aunt and uncle got tired of watching over him while he 'sulked' around the house as they liked to call it, so instead of letting him spend the summer in their quaint ranch house they've shipped him off to camp for the summer. Fun facts:: Oliver doesn't eat fish and is allergic to cats despite owning one himself. In my mind Ed Sheeran is the perfect mood music for him. Damien Rice is a close second.
Of course I had to add more categories to the skeleton and stuff because I write too much ;-; but look I'm so happy with this new boy. Yay for on the spot character creation!
Joining, if that's alright. c:
Name: Katherine (Kat or Kath) Martin Age: 18 (just turned day before arriving) Gender: Female Photo or Description: Katherine, slim figure and about 5’7”. Since it’s summer, Katherine’s attire mostly consists of open side tops and tanks as well as crop tops she cut up herself from old shirts (her favorite being a open sided Jack Daniel’s tee, I might add). She is also always seen wearing either a pair of black doc martens or a pair of converse with faded writing in pen around the white rubbery area. Personality: Laid-back and a bit mysterious. She keeps to herself for the most part or sticks around with people she knows well. She isn’t afraid to speak her mind when needed, but her quiet nature does mistake people into thinking she’s shy, which she is far from. Relationship Status: Single Crush: None Okay with Love Triangle?: Yes Reason for coming: Her mother decided it was best if she went off to camp to keep her out of trouble and so she can make a “better choice” in friends.
Name: Ian Johnston Age: 18 Gender: Male Photo or Description: Ian, minus the tattoos. He stands about 5’9” or so. Personality: Ian enjoys joking around and though sometimes he can come off as rude with his jokes, he doesn’t mean it. He’s easy to get along with and has a big heart when it comes to those he cares about. He loves partying and is quite an outgoing fellow but easily can become shy around attractive girls. Relationship Status: Single Crush: None Okay with Love Triangle?: Yes Reason for coming: His best friend, Katherine, told him she was being forced to go to the camp so he signed himself up as a surprise.
That's alright, we have a pretty much even ratio right now, which is good because there will more than likely be some love triangles.
I always love your characters, they're ABSOLUTELY amazing :3 And all your details. ntfgjktjdgbtfd. Fantastic <3
That's great, you've been added :3

Pshh they aren't that amazing, just characters. Most of which I end up disliking by the end of their run.
Oh and if the gender ratio starts to get out of hand later on just let me know because I'm always willing to come up with another male character <3
[edit] Also I'm not going to join the group. Getting a bunch of pings while I'm out because a few people are replying is going to stress me out. I'm already subscribed to the board though so I'll know when there is/are new post(s).
Camp Taewonaka was a run down, beaten up, run of the mill ol' summer camp. It was literally open space, with half of the grass already yellowing from death, and dirt paths that lead off to other places in the forest. Cabins, the kitchen and dining hall, the lake, and the parking lot were all connected to this one huge field with a few rotting picnic tables here and there. At times when the wind blew a little too hard, the trees would sway back and forth, so much so that sometimes one could swear they were just about to fall right on top of you. Not to mention the dust that was kicked up in such winds, providing endless irritation for your eyes. Oh, sure, Camp Taewonaka was a real dandy place for you to spend your summer, but not really. But still, kids kept coming back. Maybe it was the lack of rules, the free meals, and the generally fun camp activities that were provided for them. Canoeing, scavenger hunts, contests, competitions, art cabins, hiking, sports, you name it and Camp Taewonaka had it.
The ugly yellow bus sputtered to a stop in the dirt parking lot that was just a little ways down the dirt path that lead out to a broken and gratified wood sign that most likely at one point read "Camp Taewonaka" and the road back to civilization. Okay, that was being a bit dramatic. Civilization was only about a mile out from the camp. The black exhaust fumes mingled with the air outside, rising up, up up until they disappeared. "Caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamp Taewonaka!" Shouted the bus driver, who sounded so raspy that he had probably had around 12 packs of cigarettes before noon today. And probably a billion more packs in his past.
Poppy glanced up at the driver and coughed into her hand, wondering why the hell he announced this camp like it was the absolute best thing in the world. No internet was a giveaway, but glancing at her phone, she found that cell service was completely gone too. "Well great. All summer, no cell, no internet, and most likely no power." She mumbled to herself, swinging her large orange bag over her shoulder and shifting the weight of it a little so she could carry it comfortably. Her clothes, her toiletries, her charger for her ipod, and her notebooks were all stuffed inside. Hopefully she would find out that this camp was just as fun as her parents had said it was. Granted, the feuding couple would have said nearly anything to get Poppy out of the house.
The petite girl shuffled her way down the dirt path to the large field, where a small team of adults stood waiting. An older male, maybe in his early 40's, stood on one of the picnic tables with a megaphone in hand and shouted out his welcome to the new campers. "Heeeeello guys and girls, welcome to Camp Taewonaka, your home away from home for this summer. We hope you find you love it here as much as we all do, but let's get down to the basics aaaalright? I'm Tim, the director for this camp. These people around me are your other supervisors, I'm sure you'll find yourself acquainted with most if not all of them by the end of this summer. Down this path right here-" Tim turned and dramatically pointed to one dirt road swerving off and away from the field. "That's where you'll find the nurses office and the bathrooms. Bathrooms have showers and working plumbing. Woohoo! The path to the left of that one is where your cabins are! The postings for the room arrangements are on the trees on the right side of the entrance to the path. Curfew is 10:00pm, lights and lanterns out by 12, got it? The rooms are NOT CO-ED and no members of the opposite sex in the dorms together is allowed after 7." He continued on like this until he listed off where the lake, hiking trails, cabins for special activities, dining hall (and an extensive list of the dining times to boot. ie; Breakfast- 8:00am, Lunch- 1:00pm, Dinner- 6:00pm, Snacks- anytime) etc were.
Poppy realized that he had pretty much wasted his breath, because all of the paths were marked with signs to follow. What an idiot. When he sent them off, Poppy went to the list, moving through some campers to check out where her name was. Cabin 3. Looking at the map that was tacked to the tree just above the cabin arrangements, Poppy found that all cabins were pretty much grouped together, five of them girls and the other five on the opposite side of the trail were the boys cabins. Each cabin fit 6 girls or boys into it. She trudged her way down the path until she got to the cluster of cabins on the right side of the dirt path with a sign in front of them marked "Girls". Cabin 3 was nearly smack dab in the middle of the rest of them.
Stepping inside, a shocked Poppy found a clean little cabin with 3 bunk beds pushed against the walls. The little windows had their own set of well worn out- but kind of cute- blinds. A single lightbulb hung from the ceiling, lightly covered in cobwebs- which Poppy brushed off herself. She claimed a top bunk and after setting her stuff down, sat on the made bed and gazed around, wondering who her cabin mates would be. Oh well, she would find out later. Maybe right now she could go make some new friends. Friends were always good when you were stuck in a place like this, right?
The blonde found her way to the field again, seeing that a few lone campers had gotten there a little before her, and were just kind of hanging around, wondering if the counselors would announce the arrival of an activity list, or something. Maybe they would later. It was, after all, only the first day.
Poppy kind of hung back, shoving her hands into the pockets of her ripped denim shorts and eyeing who came out onto the field next. Who was she even going to talk to first? Well, anyone, really. But there sure were a lot of cute boys here, as far as she could tell from the group that had gathered as they welcomed them all. Sure, she had peeked around. Who wouldn't? It was summer after all, a little summer romance would never be a bad thing.
Maybe this summer wouldn't be so bad after all.

Jenna groaned in protest as the bus approached the awful looking camp. By the looks of it, maintenance crews were too much of a luxury for this place. Through the grimy bus window, she could at least see that the lake looked pretty nice. She'd probably be spending a lot of time sitting out there, if nothing else.
"I'm pretty sure this is child abuse," She muttered, mostly to herself, but loud enough for Evan to hear.
Evan was asleep next to her on the bus seat, so he missed her snide remark anyway. The bus driver's loud, overly enthusiastic call shook him unpleasantly from his sleep. His eyes fluttered open and he glanced over at the window Jenna was staring out of.
"This looks like the beginning of a horror movie," He joked, gripping her shoulder tightly in mock fear as Jenna rolled her eyes but cracked a smile.
When the bus finally came to a stop in the entryway, the pair of friends gathered their things. Aside from the necessities, neither of them brought very much; Jenna's bag was filled with quite a few outfits that were probably impractical for camping, her ipod, and a few pads of paper and colored pencils for doodling, while Evan had just brought along his skateboard, some clothes, and a pack of cigarettes. He didn't smoke often, but depending on how this whole camp thing worked out, he may or may not need them for his own sanity. They exited the bus, Jenna looking mildly annoyed already and Evan still wiping the sleep from his eyes.
The camp director spoke for what seemed like an eternity to Jenna. She stared silently at the other kids who had arrived and picked out a few people who looked interesting that she might want to befriend later. Evan messed around with the hem of his black shirt, not even trying to hide the fact that he wasn't paying attention. After the man finished, Evan and Jenna followed the majority of the crowd to the cabin listings and waited around in the back until the mob had cleared from around the papers.
"Cabin 3..." Jenna muttered to herself before glancing down the pathway to try to spot her home for the next few weeks.
"I'm in cabin 2," Evan smiled at her. "Meet you back here after we go drop off our stuff?"
Jenna agreed and the two separated to go to their cabins. Jenna entered hers and noticed someone had already claimed one of the top bunks. 'Damn, they were quick.' She laughed to herself as she threw her stuff up onto the top bunk of the second bunk bed. She looked into the tiny mirror that hung crooked next to the door and fixed her hair. Bus rides have a certain way of messing up hair, she discovered. While she stared at her reflection, she wondered who her cabin mates would be and hoped that they were girls she could get along with. They probably would be, but she still was a little uneasy about the whole thing since it was her first camp experience after all and she had never gone too long without her regular friends.
Meanwhile, Evan was apparently the first to enter his cabin and he quickly chose a top bunk as well. He tossed his skateboard up on the bed along with his bag and wondered if he'd ever even get the chance to ride out here. Most of the roads and paths seemed like loose dirt, which isn't too great for skating. He shrugged at his own thoughts and stretched, still slightly sleepy from the long bus ride, and headed back out into the main area, which was still scattered with kids, to wait for Jenna. He sat down on one of the rickety old benches and started to check out some of the girls who walked by. There seemed to be an abundance of pretty girls, which Evan was completely fine with. 'I think I'm okay here,' He thought to himself, smirking only slightly. 'I can enjoy this.'
Though the pair already had different outlooks, one thing was sure; it was going to be a very interesting summer.
Nova sighed as she looked out the window the bus. It was all Ashlyn's fault anyway, she is signed up for this stupid thing that Nova didn't want to go to anyway. Nova would rather be in the dance studio working on new routines for any swing competitions coming up in late fall. or rather be doing aerial silk behind her parents back. be here with complete strangers wouldn't be the same without having her daughter without her Juliet by her side. Nova with much rather have brought Juliet if it wasn't for the fact that it was just for teenagers and it will give off the "wrong impression" as Ashlyn put it. At least her parents were going to take care of Juliet for the summer. Nova looked through her things as maybe she could get out of this trip if she forgot something, but alas everything was there. "Ashlyn, when I get home you are so dead." She muttered to herself as she looked outside of the back to notice that they were here. Nova was going to send a text to her cousin telling her that they had arrived but she noticed the lack of bars on her phone.
How was she going to check in with Juliet? Or express to her cousin of how she couldn't possibly do this or meet anyone new. She didn't want to get hurt all over again, she just didn't. want to experience that. Taking her headphones off she stood up and got off the bus. She droned out what Tim had to say and went off to find her cabin. "Cabin three." She breathed out before looking down at her phone to see the screensaver of her blond bundle that she missed. Nova entered the cabin and claimed a bottom bunk before taking her phone and silently sneak out so she wouldn't have to talk to the girl that was in there. She picked a decent spot in the field and put on her music and was snapping her fingers. Though she brought her music to pass the time, and maybe she wouldn't have to get her heart broken again.
"Another exciting year!" Isaac sighed as he walked out of the bus and breathed in the air. He looked around him and saw some cute girls. He kept a mental tab of who he wanted to talk to and who didn't look very friendly. He already saw one girl that he thought was unfriendly, well...he at least tried talking to her and was ignored. She was the red head on the back of the bus who looked miserable being here. When the day came to leave he was already up and waiting. He got up early and was playing Mass Effect all over again, and by judging by the red head's phone case she liked it too. He went over to the cabin assignment he saw that he was in cabin 1 on the boys side. He ran off and quickly chose a random bunk before going back to the field.
He scanned over the people there and picked out a girl to talk to. She had her hands in her ripped jean pockets and in his opinion, she was a beautiful blonde. "Hi, I'm Isaac." He greeted as he stepped in front of her and smiled.

Being forced to go to a summer camp right after her 18th birthday - what a nice gift. Even though Katherine was legal age now and capable of making her own decisions, her mother decided to drop the whole “you’re under my roof, you follow my rules” thing on her. Her father didn’t care much and had only looked up from his newspaper for a split second to mutter “just listen to your mother,” before returning to his reading, so she decided to just make things easier for herself and go with it.
Katherine had always been a trouble child and had run away twice from home during her earlier teen years. The first time she had been 13 and it had happened after a fight with her mother. Her second time running away took place just after her 16th birthday. It was a warm summer night and the hot day had left her room too uncomfortable to sleep in. Her room was on the second floor and she often climbed out her window to sit on the roof (or sneak out by climbing down the lattice fence that went up the side of the house from the backyard). What made her want to run away that night she wasn’t even sure of, but in a matter of seconds she found herself throwing on some clothes and heading out. When the police knocked on the Martin’s door days after her disappearance, they feared the worst, but opened the door to find their daughter standing there beside the officer. Her hair was messy, her lower lip busted and her eyes were dark underneath from lack of sleep. Katherine doesn’t talk about what happened during those days away from home.
Now here she was standing on the camp grounds, a large suitcase in one hand and a small purse strapped across her chest where she carried her phone (which didn’t seem to have much use here), her iPod, cigarettes, etc. After the small welcoming, which she dozed off through most off, the girl walked over to where the lists of cabins were and waiting behind the crowd. When it had cleared up some, she looked for her name and then proceeded to her assigned cabin. ’Cabin three, here you are.’
A top bunk had already been claimed, but she had come too late to see who this cabin mate was. “Guess I’ll just find out later,” she muttered as she claimed the bottom bunk. After setting her stuff down, she adjusted the strap of her purse and headed outside. Just before she could even head out the door a familiar figure jumped in front of her, nearly knocking her down. “BOO!” Katherine wasn’t sure if she should punch him in the face or cry from happiness. “Ian, you idiot! W-what. How are you even here?” she asked, playfully pushing him back and glaring at him at the sight of his satisfied grin. “Same reason you’re here. Well, not exactly, I wasn’t forced,” he joked. “I just wanted to surprise you, Kat.” The girl laughed, walking past him and out towards the field where the other campers were starting to gather to just hang out and talk. “My mom would be so mad. After all, she sent me here so I wouldn’t hang out with you and the others this summer.”
Ian smirked at this, following after his friend. The two were close and it was easy to see. They would often get confused as a couple, but really all they saw each other as was family and nothing else. Ian first met Kat one night out at a gig a few weeks after her last runaway incident. She had been grounded since that but still continued to sneak out (she had a few friends who could drive and the city they lived in had a lot of teens, so getting around in the middle of the night and finding something to do wasn’t too difficult). The two became friends quickly and Ian helped keep the girl on her feet seeing that she was kind of on a self-destructive path with her constant partying. Not that he was such a good influence himself. He grew up having a lot of freedom since his dad was always working and his mother died when he was young. It was just him and his older brother at home.
The two just decided to chill out near a shady tree seeing as there wasn’t much to do right now. It was the first day so not much to expect besides unpacking and getting settled in for the long summer.
Oliver was a practical boy which was obviously why he missed the bus, or so he told himself after the fact. His reasoning was that he wouldn't have to sit along for the winding trip through far too many stops and rounds of bus songs. There were only so many 99 bottles to be had after all before one became certain they just regenerated and there really wasn't a need to count the bottles of beer at all. So upon waking up rather late and catching a glimpse of the bus abut a block past the stop Oliver Cher had been allowed to fabricate a more logical reasoning (compared to any teenager's love for sleep) for having missed the bus. Had he gotten to ride the bus he might have met a fellow roommate or two, made a friend, and gotten there with everybody else. Who was he kidding? Oliver would have been the kid snuggled into the back of the bus --the little one seater in the last row on the bus driver's side-- with his eyes firmly planted to the scenery outside the window. He would have been too lost in the world inside his head and determining why it was best he caught the bus had he actually managed to get on and upon arriving at the camp he would have been driven mad by the endless buzzing of teenagers all running over one another for reunion hugs and first pick of the sleeping arrangements. It really was a good thing he missed the bus.
When Oliver arrived a older man, whose name he'd been too late to catch, was finishing up his spiel of what Oliver assumed to be the average camp welcome talk. All it meant was that Oliver could cut the useless information and mindlessly follow the herd of adolescence to his cabin faster than before. It also meant that by the time he got to the cabin postings he didn't have to claw his way into view of the paper.
Oliver P. Cher: Cabin 4
Quickly figuring out that the odd cabins were situated on the left (where the girls were) and the evens fell on the right (with the boys) it wasn't hard to figure out by the time he'd made his way from the posting to the cabins that his cabin was going to be the second cabin on his right. And so it was. With a heavy sigh, for preparatory measures, Oliver shoved open the cabin door to get a first glance at his newly found 'home' for the next few weeks. It wasn't necessarily bad, the golden sunshine that streamed in seemed to illuminate millions of dust speckles in the air and the dingy little lightbulb overhead looked like it belonged in a child's easy bake oven more than a home, but the wooden panels on the floor didn't creak and the hardy glazed logs that formed the frames of the beds were nice in a nature-y sort of way. Oliver couldn't complain much because he wasn't expecting the sort of maze of empty rooms pristine 'mini mansion' as his normal home often came off to be. His normal home wasn't really that big anyway, except for the fact it was four bedrooms for his parents, him, his cat, and his goldfish.
This small room was obviously meant to hold quite a bit more than just three people and some small space pets though. With the three sets of bunk beds towering across the room he expected there would be at least a few other people holed up in the place with him. Not that anybody had entered this particular cabin yet anyway. Oliver walked across to the set of bunk beds furthest from the door and set his bags down on the bottom bunk. He was quite pleased with the under the bed room along with the idea that he wouldn't somehow tumble over the top bunk's barriers and land with a painful thud on the floor while he was supposed to be asleep. His cat had done similar things before, why couldn't he?
Oliver then began to unpack his things, simple outfits, a journal, some pens, a few just in case disposable cameras, extra shoes, hygiene products, and the obligatory camp sunscreen/bug spray sort of items that without a doubt his pale skin would thank him for later. He had packed light- well Oliver assumed he had packed light he'd never really been to a camp before. At least he got all that he needed and once it had all been tucked away and he made it very clear that his bed have been claimed, Oliver walked out of the cabin and started to find his way trailing further from the loud buzz of entering campers. Basically being 'settled in' meant it was time to find his plots of nature to just escape reality to. Those places were always the center of his sanity whenever he went anywhere.
It might be nice for us to have a list of the people staying in each cabin up at the first post. I know if more than 12 characters end up joining us we'll definitely have to branch out between more than one cabin per gender and I've already stuck Oliver in a cabin different from the first guy to make sure people don't feel like they all have to crowd into one room.
[edit] are we doing it even for the guys and odd for the girls? It seemed like we were but I just checked and set their guy up in Cabin 1.
