So, we all know the Pet Spotlight. Users work hard to put together amazing stories, overlays, and profiles in order to win.

However, what happens to the pets after they win the PS? The answer is not much, unless you use the pet for battling, or achievements. It may be a bit difficult to adopt out a PS pet with a good name, because other users will say, "oh, that pet has already won the PS", and not bother.

Thus I would like to propose a daily site feature that focuses on previous PS winners, with a random, previous pet per day. No new trophies/wins will be awarded, but it will give an opportunity for previous winners to be seen by new members who may not have been around during that pet's PS spotlight win. Or, perhaps the owner added a new Custom Overlay for the pet, if the win was before the CO feature.* (Of course, mods would have to check profiles to make sure that they still are intact, functioning, etc.)

Thoughts?

*- CO's are very influential in attracting people to look at the pet's page and profile in the first place.

So...if I'm reading this right...create an archive of past winners for users to look through for inspiration and appreciation, while also removing the trophies so past winners can be adopted out to new owners for new opportunities?

No, I mean something like the current PS, but for previous winners (and no prizes/new trophy awarded). Basically, a PS focused solely on prior PS winners [that still qualify]. If that makes sense?

I was just thinking something similar yesterday as to how there isn't that much to do with your pet after it is completed and won the PS. Three of my pets have won, but what do I use them for now? I still want to keep them, but they just kind of chill there for the most part. Though every user is different when it comes to their pets. Perhaps some people still use their winners for roleplaying, battling, or to get achievements.

But at the same time, any user can simply check out this page to see all of Subeta's past PS winners. Granted, idk how many people actually check out some previous winners and how often. I did the other day for funsies, but otherwise I generally don't. The point that I'm getting to is that it almost seems like overkill to r-eannounce previous winners when we can already see every winner at any time we want to. Though I also don't have any other creative suggestions so I'm not that much of a help, lol.

Still not really understanding...but I just think the PS is fine the way it is for the most part. I think the issue is what a user can do once their pet has won.

Can't change the pet's character or name to re-enter. Stupid trophy follows the pet even when it's adopted to someone new. Guess that's why I stick to battling instead of beautifying my pets. xD

I agree that another spotlight for previous winners is overkill but I think the archive could be a lot better.

A "Hall of Fame" type gallery somewhere on the map would encourage more visibility and it would just be a more fun way to archive the winners in my opinion.

Generally when you submit your pet to PS its because you consider that pet complete.

So what, you win and then repeatedly get to win because you've already met the requirements and haven't changed anything...

No thanks. Archive should change - And the PS win trophy should be removed when pet is put up for adoption or traded.

I second updating the archive a bit-- make it more like a hall of fame, bring more attention to it... (A search function would be cool, be it for a specific pet or a species!)

But I am completely against re-featuring previous spotlight winners.

It would be nice if the pet would loose the trophy (and inability to be re-nominated) when the pet was put in the AC or sent to a different account (kind of like Hydrus pets loose their colour if they are put in the AC) That way the pet can be eligible for another spotlight win with a new owner :)

Pets should only lose their trophies and gain the ability to be nominated again if their profiles are completely cleared.
