So currently in the dashboard there is an option to disable layouts in other people's shops. I love this option because it just makes things so much simpler. I would love to have this option for user layouts also. Currently with Vesnali we have to go to someone's profile to give them a flower (unless they have the link in their signature), unlike with dancing or kissing which has a handy little button under the HA. It drives me crazy when I go to give someone a flower, and I cant see any widget things. So I move my mouse around. Horay! A scroll box appeared. So I scroll through it... No flower. Move my mouse around again... Found another scroll box. Oh wait its not here either. Find a third one... and its way at the bottom of the scroll box... Or when the scroll box is like half an inch high. Really people? It took me as long to find your flower option, as it would have taken me to give 5 more people flowers.

So please can we have an option to disable other people's profile layouts?

Holy cow so much support for this.

I like that people can decorate their profiles, and they're lovely to see, but especially during events like this it's hugely annoying trying to navigate highly edited and intricate profiles, especially on a slow-loading computer.

This would be amazing, especially to cut down on lag during events with profile options like Vesnali and Morostide.

I don't have the panel on my profile, and I noticed I'm not the only one. Disabling profile layouts won't help if the person doesn't have the option on their profile anyway.

Maybe have the link show up on the forums, similar to the dance buttons for Masq? Then you'd always know where to find it, and people who don't have the option on their profile don't have to add it there or to their signature.

I agree with it in terms of the lag and ease-of-use for events point of view, but I don't really like the idea of people being able to turn them off entirely. Shop layouts are a different thing because people use the shops all the time, but in my personal opinion, I don't feel like user profiles are visited enough to warrant needing to turn them off completely.

To be honest, I wouldn't want someone going onto my profile and not seeing my custom profiles because profiles without layouts are boring. I don't feel like it would be very nice for the rest of the non-event year for profiles to be ignored, but that's because I like pretty profiles. But I agree on the lag side of things though.

This sounds pretty good for the people that have slow load times for profiles. If it's implemented, maybe make options be auto added onto the default layout? idk

For people that didn't know, to send flowers to people that don't have the link on their profiles (I'm one of these people), you know you can just find someone else's link and change the username in the url.

I was thinking the same thing! It's pretty obnoxious having to root through people's profiles to find that one button, and it probably adds to the lag a fair bit. I don't normally mind a well coded profile, but if I could turn it off when I wanted, it'd make me a lot happier.

I agree 100% with this. Though some profiles have hard to find text boxes, I agree.

Honestly, when I go to someone's profile 90% of the time I'm looking for something specific. I want to find it, and I want to find it fast. Some people have very nice profiles, and some people have god awful obnoxious ones.

If I wanted to see everyone's layout I would enable it. If I didn't want to, I would disable it.

I don't disagree that some people have awful profiles. I think I'm just biased because if someone goes to my profile, the layout is specifically there for them to see. Again, it's just because I'm a sucker towards pretty profiles.

This. I do like the idea behind it, but if Joe Blow doesn't have the mail options on his profile to begin with, disabling his profile wouldn't do much good.

I think that's a difference of opinion really. What you think is a god awful obnoxious profile, may be something beautiful to someone else. But your opinion is yours, not saying there's anything wrong with it.

This suggestion is not as simple as it seems. First of all, there is no such thing as a 'default' profile. People choose which elements to show (for example some people don't want the "last seen" box visible, even when they make the last seen private). There is no guarantee that the "option box" will show up. I imagine it would be a programming nightmare to remove some elements, but still have the profile elements showing (and not showing) that the person intends.

To show a completely generic default profile would invalidate people's options and privacy choices.

Finally, this is something you can do yourself - most browsers have some sort of option to not view styling. Look up information on how to do this with your particular browser.

Although I agree this sounds as a good idea, it just wouldn't work with a handful of profiles. Some people's code isn't just moving columns and adding pretty pictures, and removing the layout leaves you with a lot less information. I think my profile is a good example of what I mean. This is the way it looks without any layout. Not really useful. And I'm sure I'm not the only one with a profile like this.

That's exactly what I did. I just left a tab open and after I gave a flower, backspaced, entered the next persons UN and refreshed. Then gave a flower. I do wish though that there could be a link on the forums.
