I'm really roleplay-starved right now, so I decided to make one. And I felt like roleplaying my new dragon char, so... here we are! xP
Plot:
The Idosicas and the Rudizoas (I know, weird names) have long since been enemies. They are two families of dragons whose bickerings are based on nothing; simply a long disliking for each other inherited by the founders of the families. It was so long ago that nobody even remembers why they don't like each other. The only way they differ are their customs: Idosicas prefer the night time, and are nocturnal, while the Rudizoas have their activities in daylight. They constantly fight over territory and food--there have even been huge battles between them. However, the two families realize that they must join together when faced with a new threat: dragonslayers. While dragons rarely appear to humans--and when they do, it is never to do harm--the humans have gotten it into their heads that dragons are harmful, and thus have hired specially-trained people to kill them. The dragonslayers range from humans to elves to even dwarves. A handful from each of the three races wish to defend the dragons, but their voices are drowned out by the rest. Will the dragons overcome their differences and help destroy their problem, or will their constant warring spell out their doom?
Rules:
I would prefer only literate members, but IF I don't get very many people, I'll accept semi-lits. Make sure you can write at least one good paragraph per post, and no one-liners. Writer's block is understandable, but not for six posts in a row.
Keep in mind that this isn't a dragon rider roleplay. There are no dragon riders. You can either roleplay a dragon or a dragonslayer. Also, please keep the dragon/dragonslayer ratio fairly even. If it's ten dragons against one dragonslayer, that definitely won't be a fair fight.
Your dragon and/or dragonslayer can control ONE element. No gifts aside from the typical stuff, such as heightened senses from elves, etc. Also, the dragons can talk. xP
If you want to join, tell me what your favorite book/series is. And if you don't want to join, then go away. Unless you're lurking. xD
No Powerplaying, Godmoding, Mary-Sueing, Gary-Stuing, or killing another character without permission. It's not fun.
Be nice in ooc.
All Subeta forum rules apply. I don't want to read about stuff that'll make my stomach flip, and I definitely don't want to read about dragon porn. Other than that, violence and romance is encouraged. =3
Skeleton:
Name: Gender: Species: (dragon, human, elf, or dwarf?) Side: (Idosica, Rudizoa, or dragonslayer?) Element: (if your char has one) Appearance: (pictures are accepted) Personality: (please no "you'll see"s) History: (optional, but preferred) Other:
My char - Name: Ragar Gender: Male Species: Dragon Side: Idosica Element: Fire Appearance: Here Personality: Ragar tends to be brutish and arrogant to others. His morals are rather poor, and he is nearly impossible to argue with. He doesn't usually start fights, but he is famous for provoking them. However, he tends to be a pessimist, and he strongly dislikes optimists. He also doesn't like the brightness of the sun, causing him to complain fervently when they have to meet with the Rudizoa in the daylight. History: Ragar strongly takes after his father, who was a worse version of his son. Ragar's father, Leyth, was protective of his son, but very cruel and snappy to almost everybody else. His mother was compassionate and tolerant, and loved both her mate and her son. His mother, however, was killed early in his lifetime in a fight with the Rudizoa, and so Ragar was mostly raised by his father. His father wasn't abusive, but you could say that he didn't exactly teach very good morals. Under his father's influence, Ragar grew up to be who he is. He loved his father, and idolized him; he tried to please his father many times. However, when Leyth was killed by a dragonslayer, Ragar vowed revenge on the elf and became more bitter than he was before. ((If somebody who's joining as a dragonslayer wants to play the part of that dragonslayer, they can.)) Other: None.
ooc; I'd like to reserve a dragon spot, if you don't mind. I'll get a skellie up sometime this evening... Hmm... favorite book... That's a hard one. One of my favorite books is My Sister's Keeper, so I guess that'll work.

ooc: heya, PadFoOot! Long time no rp, huh? Mind if I join? I'd really like to be a dragon, if that's okay. I'll write up a nice skellie for you and post it later. ^^
EDIT: sorry, yeah, forgot my fav book! Um...Taggerung by Brian Jacques, I think it would be.
Name: Kaero Gender: Female Species: Dragon Side: Rudizoa Element: none Appearance: Rather small for a dragon, but that's mostly because she's still young. She has a turquoise body that deepens to a midnight blue on the tips of her wings. Two small horns protrude from the top of her head like a goat, and her wings are very similar to a bat's. Personality: Very friendly and gentle. She loves flirting, but isn't very good at it. She tries to act fierce; however, it's very easy to see through her sham. She gets along with nearly anyone, but sometimes her light and carefree attitude annoys people. History: Not much to be said. She hatched in a clearing all by herself, so she has no idea who her parents are, or if she had brothers or sisters. She found a member of the Rudizoa tribe when she was very young (or, more acurately, they found her) and so she became one of them. Other: Her favorite foods are apples and sheep, though she prefers apples.
ooc|| Sure, but what's your favorite book? ^^
OCC: Hey buddy! Hugs May I join as a dragon slayer and a dragon? Fav. book, I don't really know. I really liked, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, though.
ooc|| Yay, Spotted! Hai Buddy! xD And sure! HP rocks. o3o
OCC: I'm actually going to have two slayers, brother and sister, then bring in my dragon later. We need more dragonslayers!
Name: Hunter Harrison Gender: Male Species: Human Side: Dragonslayer Element: None Appearance: Darker brown hair that falls just above his average, light brown eyes. Nose is long and a tad on the thinner side. His face is both round and long, with light peach/apricot skin and some freckles dotting his face. Eyes are narrow, a light brown color, with a slightly lighter spot towards the bottom of his right eye. Freckles are tan brown spots, that run across his nose and go slightly further until they go about a centimeter onto his cheeks. Jawline is defined, not exactly square but close to it. Muscular, though not a bodybuilder. Muscles are average, strong but not too intense. Hands are average and his feet are large. Wears light jeans with a few holes in them, but not many. Shirt is light red; some of the seams are ripped in certain places, but other than that he looks fine. For shoes, he prefers just normal, ragged gray gym shoes that he wears to gym everyday. Unless he is feeling fancy, then he will wear a pair of too large black Converses with thick black laces. Personality: Usually very relaxed and calm. People don't understand why, and when they ask he just replies with something about how he has nothing to be tensed up about, which is true. Hunter makes friends easily because of his laid-back personality, though sometimes he finds it hard to keep them. They often find him too 'boring' ditch him for someone they believe is more interesting, like the popular people of the town. Though they really haven't seen the real Hunter; they just saw his school personality, which is kind of like his normal personality, but has some differences. At home, Hunter is just as relaxed and laid-back as he is at school, but at home is more, rebellious. He'll talk back to his older sister(who is his guardian) at home and he has even escaped the imprisonment of his room a few times to go meet with friends at the park, where he is relaxed like nothing has happened. Stealthy and sneaky. His friends find it hard to believe how sneaky he is. At school he is clumsy and weird, but at home and around the neighborhood he is lithe and quick. Has managed to sneak back into his room almost every time he escaped without getting caught, except one time when his window was locked and he had to go through their front door. The only reason that he is going to hunt the dragons is because his older sister is dragging him along with her. History: Hunter was born on March Seventh. His father, a surgeon in the army, was killed in battle when the boy was only three years old. He had met his father only a few times that he could remember clearly, and the only clear memory that he has was when his father left. His mother had been weeping bitterly, holding him tight to her like she could lose him too. When the letter came, pronouncing her husband's death, his mother went a little crazy. She instantly got depressed and would snap at her children and say that they were useless, and that she wished that she never had them. When Hunter was ten and his sister nineteen, she bought a house far away from her depressed mother and took Hunter with her. When Hunter was eleven his sister did a few basic tests to see if he had gained the ability of controlling an element, and much to her disappointment he didn't. When he asked why she had done the tests she quickly showed him how she could control water, and what she could do with it. Hunter was amazed, he desperately wanted to be able to control an element like his sister controlled water, but he knew that it would never happen. Only going on the quest to slay the dragons because his older sister is dragging him along with her. She wants to make a name for herself by slaying the dragons. Other: He's fifteen years old.
I'll bring in his sister later. Sorry that it's so long!
[is guilty Sorry, but can I join as a dragon? I'll double as a slayer, too, if needed. I'm just not good at even pretending to want to kill something. OH! Also, my fave book is Fruits Basket (series).]
((Hmmm...this looks interesting. lurks
I'll probably post a skelly tomorrow, if that's ok? And I think at the moment my favorite book series is Beka Cooper, but that changes pretty much daily ^^))
Name: Mirrin Gender: Female Species: Dragon Side: Idosica Element: Electricity Appearance: Not mine. Personality: Mirrin is stuck-up, smug, and not too friendly. She's all for continuing this pointless war, even if she doesn't like to fight all that much, because it makes her feel superior to the Rudizoa. She likes having things to brag about. She'll often provoke other dragons into fighting with each other, just to watch and laugh. History: Mirrin and her two brothers grew up orphans, their parents having been killed by dragonslayers when they were little. Both her brothers eventually disappeared; she can only imagine they were captured or killed. But she was never really close to either them, so she doesn't grieve often for her lost family. Many dragons believe this is where her cold personality stemmed from, from losing so many people in her life. But she just likes being superior to everyone. Other: None.

OCC: Here is Hunter's sister, Chloe.
Name: Chloe(Clover) Harrison Gender: Female Species: Human Side: Dragon Slayer Element: Water Appearance: Shoulder length dyed deep blue hair tipped black; falls in bangs on her face and layers. Hair is thick and easily knotted. Hair is straight, it doesn't curl at all unless she wears it in braids and then takes it out about a day later. Wears her hair in braids when hunting dragons, but leaves her bangs down. Eyes are a darker shade of brown with a slightly lighter tan spot towards the top of her right eye. Face is long and round at the same time, with tan freckles dotting her pale face. Wears only some makeup to make her eyes stand out. Nails are painted black. Thin, lithe figure with small hands and small feet. Stands at about 5'4', only a little taller than her younger brother. Wears a slim black tank top with a thin black jacket over it, the zippers are deep blue, as well as the seams. Her jeans are darker as well, inked, with barely any holes, except for one above her right knee that she got from slaying her first dragon. Wears these jeans a lot when going hunting, for she believes that they are her lucky dragon hunting jeans. For shoes she just wears slim black gym shoes with black laces. Personality: Chloe is the type of girl that you would find hiking and climbing trees rather than gossiping to other girls about the latest fashions. She prefers to keep to herself, though will open up a lot to her younger brother. She may be quiet, but she is not timid at all. If someone makes a comment, she will smile slightly and throw one back at them. Chloe has never lost a fight against other girls, but has lost some fights against men, who are usually bigger than she is. Doesn't care if she is beaten by a man, she'll just congratulate them and walk away. Usually after losing a fight she'll go and train some more; lifting weights, hiking, and even swimming a little bit. Speaking of which, Chloe takes major pride in her ability to control water. Though she takes pride in it, she only shows it to people that she knows she can trust, for she doesn't want the whole world to know what she can do. Chloe absolutely loves water animals. Land animals she is okay with, and likes them a little bit, but she absolutely loves water animals. In fact, if you ask, she'll tell you that she has about ten fish, all dangerous in one way or another. Just like her younger brother, Chloe is very stealthy and sneaky. She doesn't abuse this gift, though, and she gets really mad when her brother uses his ability to sneak out at night when he's grounded. History: Chloe was born on July Fourteenth, only four days earlier than her father's birthday. Her father, who was a surgeon in the army, was killed in battle when she was twelve and her brother only three. If you ask her about her past, she'll hesitantly tell you, then assure you that she's fine. Her mother, saddened and grief-stricken from her husband's death, went a little crazy. She often told her children that they were useless and she wished that they had never been born, etc. Chloe lived with it for a long time. Her mother only usually verbally attacked her, so she was never worried about her brother until her mother totally snapped and punched him in the face. Outraged, Chloe took her ten-year-old brother and together they moved far away from their mother. Chloe, being nineteen, was able to get a decent job at a weapon's store. It was her first day at her new job that she discovered her knew-found power. When she was cleaning the counters with a wet rag, she found that she could cause the water on the counter to rise and dance weirdly in the air. The next year she did tests on her brother to see if he had gained an ability, and much to her disappointment he didn't. But she quickly dismissed it. When the townspeople told her of the dragons, she immediately volunteered herself and her brother to go hunt it. Other: She is twenty four years old.
ooc|| You can both join! And Fruits Basket rocks! xP Alright, your skellies are looking good. Does anybody want to start? I will if nobody else does. :3
OCC: May I start?

If someone listened closely to the sounds coming from a small town near where the dragons lived, they would hear angry shouts and many curses radiating from the tiny town. If someone walked closer to the town, they would see that there was a mob of townspeople standing in front of a podium in front of the mayor's small house.
And if that person decided to listen to the mayor speaking, they would be able to make out the scared tinge that was added to his voice as he addressed the townspeople.
"We have spotted dragons in the forest nearby and we are sending some people out to destroy them." The mayor began nervously, pulling at his tie while beads of sweat ran down his plump face. "A small party of experienced dragon slayers will be needed. Please come forward if you wish to partake in this event-"
Before the mayor could finish, a tall, lanky girl stepped out of the crowd. She had shoulder length deep blue hair, which was quite unusual, and dark brown eyes that had a determined look painted in them. She smiled slightly, revealing perfect white teeth. "My brother and I are ready, mayor."
Chloe glanced back to see her brother, Hunter emerge from the crowd as well. Hunter did not really want to go hunt the dragons, but she knew that he had no choice. He wasn't old enough to live on his own, and she was his guardian. They had no relatives that could look after him.
"Yes..." Hunter trailed off and glanced over at his sister, who nodded curtly and turned back to the mayor. "We will be glad too. We will return with dragon hide and a victory achieved by only some." The mayor nodded.
"Chloe and Hunter Harrison, we give you our blessings as you go slay dragons in a deadly match. James, please step forward." A larger man, larger with muscle, stepped out of the crowd bearing two long, thin and deadly sharp swords. The man nodded briefly at Chloe and Hunter, then motioned to them to take the swords. They did.
"Good luck to you!" The mayor yelled, and the townspeople agreed. The two siblings glanced at each other before saying their thanks and walking out of the town and towards the forest.
Ragar sprawled out on the forest floor, his yellow eyes half-lidded with boredom. Clouds whisped across the sun, but to him, it was still annoyingly bright. During a meeting with the Rudizoas, he was assigned daytime patrol of the forest. Though he made it clear that he wasn't happy with this decision, he didn't whine or even try to refuse--that would only make him look like a litte brat.
A stream ran just past his nose. He dabbled his clawed paw aimlessly in it, watching the water slide past it. The sound of the flowing water was pretty, and he settled into a more relaxed position, inhaling the scents of the forest. He wanted to close his eyes, to block out the angry rays of the sun, but he feared he would fall asleep if he did. He was supposed to be guarding the forest--or watching over it, at least. There wasn't any time to fall asleep.
Vibrations in the ground reached him. They were distant, but he could easily identify them as human footfalls. Even the most stealthy humans could never match the prowess of a trained elf; in the same respect, dwarves would be much louder with their bulk and their axes. He ignored it at first. As long as the humans didn't come into the forest, there was no reason for him to investigate. But the steps became more pronounced, and he could tell they were coming closer.
Slightly concerned now, he rose to his paws and crouched down into a stalking position before sneaking ever-closer. He could see them now. They were definitely slayers--he couldn't tell how good they were, but he would guess they were better at fighting than most humans. And--lucky him--they were heading straight towards him.
He rose to his full height, advancing from the shadows. He stepped out of the line of trees, knowing that their confined space would only hinder him. A snarl rose from his chest, and his eyes took on a wild look--a look that spoke of his intense feelings of protection that he had for the forest. His lips wrinkled back and his jaws parted, sparks igniting in the back of his throat. If they don't turn around soon, I'll turn them to ashes, he thought.
Kaero flapped her wings softly and came to a gentle landing on the ground next to a small stream. She stretched and yawned; it had been a long day. She had spotted two patrols of Idosicas and had spent most of her time avoiding them.
She lay down on the soft heather, and curled slightly, staring into the calm waters of the stream. She didn't notice Ragar until he stood and snarled. With a gasp, she righted herself and slipped into the shadows, hoping she wouldn't be seen. Behind her, she heard the sound of human footfalls, and her eyes became even wider, almost wild with fear. There was nowhere she could go. She was trapped.
Though the forest was peaceful, and none but the elves and dragons could have sensed the footfalls, it was as loud to her as a busy city street. Each and every cricket sounded like a foghorn, and the footfalls seemed like an advancing army of thousands of men. She trembled up against the trunk of a tree, her own breath like the sound of gunshots in her ears.
OCC: Padfoot, who are the humans that you are referring too? Are they Hunter and Chloe? Sorry, it's very vague.
OCC: It's fine. :P

As the two siblings walked through the forest, Chloe's ears were intently listening for any sounds that might point to dragons living there. Her hand gently grasped the leather hilt of her sword, which was held in her belt. She was ready for the hunt. Chloe glanced hastily down at her sword, then brought it out and gazed at the hilt.
On the hilt, two dragons were carved, with fire entwining one of them and a vine entwining the other. Their heads were pointed upwards, one of them breathing fire and the other spurting water.
Her head snapped up to meet the eyes of the dragon that had suddenly came up before them. Her eyes narrowed as her grip tightened on the sword. "Hello, dragon." Chloe spoke quietly, her words firm and tough. Her heart beat roughly against her chest, but she was not afraid. "Ready for a fight?"
Hunter, who had taken out his sword as well, glanced up at the dragon and shrugged his shoulders silently. Choosing not to speak, he let his eyes flicker from his sister to the dragon, back and forth, waiting for something interesting to happen.
I thought it would come to this, Ragar thought, but he wasn't displeased by their decision. "Of course," he said, his voice deep and rumbling. Without a warning, his jaws parted, releasing a ball of fire that rolled in their direction. It was a pathetic move, especially if they were quick enough to dodge, but it would at least get them moving.
