Do you have pets named after real people(writers, actors, athletes, poets. etc) with the exact name? What do you do with them? Do you still develop a fictional character for them?

I have two pets with real people names, and I don't know what to do with them. Xris was named after a real person too, but since I made up the name I can still write story for him. But what about Edward Norton and Kretschmann? I once developped fictional characters for them, but I don't think they were very proper.

I have finished stories for all my other eight pets, and I feel bad for these two.

[edit] "Real people" means those who live or once lived in the real world. Fictional characters are not included. Sorry. xD

I don't consider real people names bad. I just don't feel like writing stories for them, which lead to them being neglected. xD I know I'll never give up these two pets.

Well today I made Ted Bundy SCORE :D

I haven't really had time to do anything with him bar start on his treasures, but I intend to make a profile consisting of looooads of pics of the actual Bundy, plus put in a few details on the real T.Bundy's life... Makes sense to keep the true story, to me :)

Well you could always just make the pet a sort of "subeta version" of that real name. Granted it wouldn't be 100% yours but half the reason why I make fandom pets with names based off things I love is so I can see how close I can get to the actual thing XD It's quite fun.

Well my Turco was named for Dallas Stars Goalie, Marty Turco and Toshiya was named for the bass player of Dir en grey. At first I didn't plan on doing anything with them really, because it seemed weird to take a pet I specifically named for a public figure and then give them a fictional character.

In the end, Turco made me cave. I was gasp nodding in and out at work (I work night shifts and sleeping is a big no-no, but I am not perfect) and I had one of those odd dreams you sometimes have when you're partially asleep (at least I have them, I don't care what the whole REM thing says, I dream more in a fifteen minute catnap that an eight hour night I swear.) I am not sure what all the dream consisted of, but when I jerked awake, the idea for Turco was just there. This kid who wants to be like his idol. (That's about how Razor Boy got his story as well.)

Then when it came to Toshiya, I went ahead and based some of the characters physical description on the real individual and my character is a bass player (cause Lindsay has a thing for drummers and bass players nods), but I went on a complete tangent from there, basing him more on my love for Austin and missing the live music scene there since I moved away.

. That's an awesome name. I can only work on my two pets' TCs too. Photo is a good idea. But my two pets are actors, so I don't want to show off their look...xD

. Cool idea. Let me see if I can think of a subeta version of Norton and Kretschmann.

Or, since mine are all actors, I can write mini film scripts according to their TCs! Ha!

[edit] . Thanks for sharing your story! I had those kind of dreams too!

Bahaha, mine's a serial killer so if I 'show off his look', people may well think I'm a nutter :D

I had a new idea to help you with Rogue's suggestion;

If you take a few real-life quotes from the people, you could include them in the story to maintain both the link to the actual human, and the fact that they are actually just little pixelated creatures on Subeta xD

Also, you could check on subeta to see if anyone else has any pets with names related to yours ~ and then put them as their friends (if only for a laugh)..

I reckon I'll do that for Ted, anyways :P

No, I don't give them personalities. Edward Cullen, Balthier and Draco Malfoy are just going to get epic treasure chests and themed lookups.

I have Hansi. He is named after Hansi Kürsch from the German heavy metal band Blind Guardian and no, I dont give him an personality. I only try to find a fitting colour and matching things for his treasure chest. The pan pipes and the bongos are just temporary in his treasure chest though xD

The three people Amore mentioned are still fictional. I mean people who exist or existed in real world. :D

But You guys have your points too. That's why I really can't come up with a nice decription. They are after all real people. I don't know them, and I don't want to make up fake identities. I can definitly work on treasure chest. In fact, I'm a TC addict. I'm fairly happy with the two's TC though. I probably won't stop till all my pets have at least 100 fitting items.xD

[edit] Discombobulator. Thanks! Good luck to you too!

Oh, ha. I was reading through the thread and completely forgot that my Hammurabi is named after someone real. xD

I've basically totally made him into a fictional character and just tried to channel his basic personality. Especially since, well... he's from the 1700's (BC) so I only have historical research to go by, which focuses mostly on events of his life and his legacy (i.e. Hammurabi's Code). :3

I'm fine with making up fictional character as long as the pet doesn't have the exact name as the real person (such as Xris). But the exact real name really bugs me...xD

[edit] I have a story in mind for Edward Norton, but it doesn't fit his color and treasure chest. I'm not sure I'll change everything just for that.

I've had pets based off of real characters before, but they all ultimately ended up being pounded or renamed because I felt unoriginal working with someone else's character/persona. They make good 'lulz' pets if it's something lulzy (or satirical or whatever) or even good 'in honour of' pets. Where I'd put a short description of why I love what/who they represent, and fill their treasures with items on the site that reminded me of that person.

But then I'd think of an original name that was so much better, and so much more versatile and fun to work with. Having a pet named after someone feels like owning a photo or something of that person, and describing it. Having a character of my own feels so much more real, 3D even, like i'm weaving this creature that's real and new to the world, and they don't exist yet anywhere.

...but that's just my opinion xD

That's very true, Rah. And that's the problem with those pets, restricing one's mind. But changing the pets' names is not an option for me. I would rather keep the blank profiles than changing names. Plus, I've met some cool people by having those two pets. I guess creativity doesn't come first for me. No wonder why you are an artist and I'm not. :D

Haha, I had Talleyrand and Metternich, and I'd developed some wacked-out story involving them ending up in hell together (and hating it) but it was so weird I finally just abandoned them. xD

For ages Talleyrand's page was filled with quotes from him, too. That guy was a character.

(They both ended up with the same owner, additionally! (; Yay!)

I like what Rah said, about owning a photo or something, and can see where the owning an originally named pet would be more worthwhile. It really does make you feel wonderful on the inside, knowing you created a character on your own and are willing to showcase that. I admire people who are able to do that with their pets (I get so jealous when I see full layouts of really well thought out pets), because I'm able to make a character (I have about 90) but I'm unable to incorporate them into "subeta" form XD which probably explains why I have so many fandom pets.

"In honour of" pets make you feel good if you can do them accurately as well, too. They may not belong to you, exactly, but if you're able to get a nice layout along with a good TC, you're bound to turn heads, and I've made quite a few friends off them as well!

It depends on what you'd like to feel good about more: Being creative with your pets in "cosplaying" or being creative with your pets in creativity. c:

You are right, RogueClawdite!

My purpose of owning these pets are simple. They make me smile. xD I'm not trying to show my talent through them, but it's surely fun working on them, either the TC, overlay or my stupid and depressing little stories. Ah, I love my pets...❤

I usually use the basic personality, then make alterations as needed, it's been working for H.P. Lovecraft(who desperately needs a profile update), and it should work for Mira Aroyo.
