You could change and tweak little bits and pieces until its almost original. i.e. Turn the bad guy into the good guy vice versa, Have a male and his girlfriend instead be gay lovers and not a bf/gf couple.

I'm not so picky about whether my pets have stories or not. I think of them more as vessels for my creativity and wit. Winehouse and Saddam are perfect examples of this. I have pretty large treasures full of items that represent those real people but I'd never create a story for either of them.

The only pet I own based off of anyone is Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, because he influenced the way I look at the world so much. That said I have no friggin' idea how long I keep him, because like most of the other people on this board, I thrive off character building. Antoine is a trophy pet.

I myself just snagged 'Tupac'. Of course I won't have any problem making a story for him, lol...

I actually have two, Frankie_Iero and Gee_Way, named after Frank and Gerard from My Chemical Romance.

I don't have to make up stories about them, they make up their own irl :)

Anywho, I've never had a pet named after a real person.. but I wouldn't be able to work with that.. I agree that it would make me feel very unoriginal.
