Wonder if respirators or gas masks would do any better than the surgical ones. ... Always looking for a good excuse to wear those out in public with my punkin' goggles.

But I wonder how long until all the loonies come out with their signs and standing by the street to tell us how the world is at an end now. I loved those people on 6/6/06 down by the Home Depot. :x

I live in Arizona, and an elementary school in my county was recently closed because of a case of the flu.

The way I figure, if I get it, I get it. If I die from it, I die from it. Except for what's happening in Mexico, it hasn't done anything to make me scared of it. Until it becomes widespread and/or fatal in my community, I'm not wasting energy worrying about it. :P

Oh god. I was at a HUGE HUGE HUGE concert in Chicago on Wednesday night. Then earlier today I felt sickish. THEN we got a letter from the principal that said if any swine flu cases were reported around here, the school would close. :x Goddammit. I'm NOT going to die of swine flu. I fucking refuse.

I feel fine now. But yeah. Had some paranoia earlier.

When this all over, I'm sure there will be hoards of people going "I told you so! This was all nothing. :P" The thing is, it's FAR better to overreact and be vigilant. It's the awareness and measures we take that determine how this all pans out. If the authorities didn't care enough to step up hotel/airport security and left it all up to the general public to wash their hands a little more often, we'd be fucked.

My brother works at a college in Northern Indiana that has quite a few confirmed cases. :x

I'm not afraid of dying, since that has rarely happened in the U.S, but I have a fear of fatigue and vomiting. If I get it, I'll be really bummed. When I get fatigue, I have to exercise. Blah, I have no clue why. :c

Of the people that have contracted this swine flu, very few have died. It&;s just another attempt by the media to give everyone a panic attack and boost ratings. I&;m so sick of this shit.

Well.. No. MANY mexicans ARE dying.. And the whole scare is that they don't know WHY.

don't worry too much right now. people die from the regular flu every year, and so far, this seems around the same strength as that. it could mutate and disappear or it could mutate into a stronger strain - that's the reason for all the precautions. better to be safe than sorry, right? -shrug- even if you get it, get proper medical attention; you'll be fine. honestly im not scared at all the cases here in Scotland have all been treated and are getting better the only cases were people have actualy died have been in Mexico and that's probably because they either didn't notice soon enough or there hospitals aren't that great every one is over reacting about it, if you catch it you go to the doctors and get the treatment like you would if you had the flu what they've said is your only really at risk if our elderly, a baby or already ill like the flu hundreds of people die from the flu every year, there not calling that a pandemic

I live in North Texas, and we have 35 possible cases. They've canceled EVERYTHING, and I'm waiting for them to tell us not to come to school. I love it! Ahaha.

While I think that Swine Flu is something we need to be aware of, I think that it's getting blown way out of proportion. People in Mexico have died, because lets face it, medical procedures and facilities are poorly furnished and simply not equipped to deal with an outbreak like that.

I mean, if 30,000 people are hospitalized/die from the flu in the USA, is there going to be a declaration of a pandemic? No, of course not because people will simply stare down their noses and just say that those people should have gotten the flu shots. Somebody dies from a stronger strain of the flu and now we're under a pandemic. And the kid wasn't even American, he was just visiting! The flu, that's all it is. Stronger maybe, but no different people.

It's just a little crazy in my opinion.

There have been 2 cases in Australia. But as far as I know they have been put in a hospital. I'm not worried about it YET,manly because I just heard on the t.v that what sciencest and doctors thought would kill hundreds in some country has only killed 10. Wash your hands. Drink orange juice, or lots of water. And if you have a cold (not the swine flu) don't go around sneezing on people trying to freak them out -_-

Well there's only 240some in Wisconsin, and most of them are down south. So I'm not worried. It's fading from main headlines now as well, so it's on it's way out, at least around here. If it shows up, ya then well, I'll protect me and mine.
