Like with most other things on this site, vending machines are part luck. Many people have favorites, or lucky machines. All machines have a small chance to give out rare items. Of course, you could view the lovely guide has on her profile for more detail about each machine

I'd also add that the best vending machine is also based on what type of item you're after/what's in demand at the time. e.g. I remember making a ton from wearables using gravedigger last Halloween.
