two ONE issue I have with the system.

1. What harm is there in letting blocked users view the blocker's profile?

Suppose the blocker ends up leaving their account inactive or they get iced. Said blocker has a pet name you really want, but you can't find out the date the account will be cleared or free, because the "lol BLOCKED" error greets you.

sol: Still block any means of communication, but allow blocked users to still view blocker's profile.

2. Another problem, say someone changes their UN to that blocker's account. I'm still blocked by the username. sol: Instead, shouldn't I be blocked by the UserID #--cause that doesn't ever change?

Blocking is by userid, not by username.

To be honest I do think it's a little strange that we're blocked from viewing the profile. It's not like we can contact them, I'm not sure why we can't just look at their page.

I fail to see the issue with how it is, to be honest. The gripe about it interfering with stalking an account clearing is minor and a pretty unlikely situation to find oneself in. The point of blocking is to sever all contact between the individuals as if they don't exist, so it falls in line with the idea to hide their activities from those they've blocked.

I apologize if this isn't the case here, but this seems like a personal user issue veiled as a general site suggestion. -_-

That definitely isn't the case here. I haven't been blocked by anyone in a super long time. Rather, this just randomly surfaced to my thoughts while looking over my friends list today.

For people stalking usernames or pet names, I'm pretty sure they can already always just view user profiles when logged out of Subeta.

Cause though it'd be a bit of a hassle at times, it does get around the problem.

I don't want people who blocked me to see my profile. if they don't like me that much well :P they can stay away from stalking me and my pets.
Same with people who I blocked. I don't want to see their profiles because I don't want anything to do with them. If they went inactive then I'd unblock them. otherwise it seems rather harassing if you check on their profile and are able to. just my two cents.

Eh. I dont particularly think its a big issue when you can just check most things in another browser / while logged off -shrugs-

However, I find it kind of strange that blocked people can't join any groups created by the blocker. Or rather, I do view a purpose behind that, but it can become really inconvenient for big / important ping groups that can affect someone's site experience as a whole and thus should be beyond the reach of the function imo :/

Not sure how it's "harassing" to just look at someone's profile? I mean, if there was an off-site issue of User A looking at User B's profile just to use information there to bitch about User B elsewhere... I guess that's an issue, although one that could be solved off-site and doesn't really have anything to do with Subeta itself. I dunno, I just don't see why you'd feel so violated by someone just looking at your profile?

I don't have a strong opinion for or against the suggestion. I don't have a problem with blocked users seeing my profile, but I don't think it's a very important issue to consider "fixing".

It's not necessarily harassing, persay, but I can see what Knockout is saying when they mean they don't want anything to do with another user who has blocked them, even insomuch as allowing a blocked person to view what is theirs, so to speak. It's essentially an out of sight, out of mind type thing.

Plus, as others, InSane, for instance have stated, you can still search for a pet, you just can't view that particular person's profile if you have them blocked.

As such, I think the system is fine as is.

Since there is (and should be, don't get me wrong) no criteria for blocking someone, it should affect the blocked person as little as possible. Not being able to see their profile affects you, even if very minorly.

You should still be able to see the profile. Move the "You've been blocked!" page to if you click 'leave comment' or 'smail'. Or just have it as a popup/hover on their profile.

hmmm not sure i see a problem either way but i havent had to deal with it.
