After much discussion amongst themselves, the dragons have announced that they would henceforth prefer to be referred to as rreigns to better distinguish themselves from the plethora of other dragon species on Subeta. One of Subeta's most famous rreign, Curie, has informed us that the name is pronounced much like our word rain with a guttural growl-like sound at the beginning.

Despite the suggestive nature of the word ''prefer,'' they would also like to include that anyone choosing not to respect their wishes does so at their own risk of being summarily fried and devoured by a more sensitive member of their species! :o

"Reign/Rain" sounds cool, but the non-capitalized thing seems weird to me, too. The new name also seems kinda random.

Double r? Oh no, how could you xD I have an incorrect 'r' sound pronunciation, I have small problems with saying it once xDD twice is impossible, lol

I am sorry that so many people are disturbed by the lowercase name, but a decision was made rather recently to discontinue capitalizing species names and colors. The rreign is the first news post of many more to come affected by this change.

is there a particular reason in this decision? I have a distaste for uncapitalized names but maybe a reason can comfort me

rreigns ?? EW do not want, how about DragonBorn or Ragons?

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Eh, I don't care about the capitalization so much, but that double r bugs me. I think I would've used 'rh'. Actually I probably would've spelled it 'rhaen' or something like that.

I'm all for the change to lowercase. A dog isn't a Dog, unless it got named as such.

I guess my problem is the pets are so dominant on most pet sites (even this one.. even if it is a 'social networking site' now) that the pets come across more like different cultures of people rather than just 'animals'. You wouldn't say italian, or japanese, or welsh, or american without capitalizing the first letter (even Firefox's spell checker doesn't like it!). The pet names kind of have a similar connotation to that. But whatev'.

o.0 Eh... blah. But ignoring the name entirely... it would look so much better capitalized. Why are we switching to lowercase now? I guess because we're going to pretend they're normal animals like that? Righteo... answering my own questions. Still would look better capitalized.

I have to agree, it does look rather ridiculous lowercase, especially with the double consonant - and especially because every other pet has always had a capitalized name.

Whether or not a 'decision was recently made about this', I think it's sort of a silly decision. The pet species here just generally look better capitalized. I think removing the capital letter really removes emphasis from the pet as a whole, which is sad.

That is all.

The double R's, and indeed the new name itself, were inspired by Welsh-- the Welsh Dragon, Y Ddraig Goch, to be precise.
