Just a quick update on the rules, especially for the forums. From this point forward, Caps and Punctuation rules are no longer standing around the site.

If you have received a warning in the past for either of these, it is now null. (It'll still show up on your preferences page, but it will not count toward being frozen in the future).

Okay. The reason I care isn't because of the forums. I don't go on the forums so much.

The reason I care is because I live in the ShoutBox - where these rules were already being broken constantly and for no reason at all. These rules are extremely helpful at keeping the SB coherent. Just because it's a 'shout' box, doesn't mean you actually have to OMGCAPSI'MSHOUTING. I really do believe the SB will be ridiculous and illiterate now - at least during the day when all the kiddies are on. We have enough trouble with spam. Seriously.

I just don't understand why people don't think exclamation points are effective for conveying shouting and excitement. They are - hence their reason for existence.

People who say it was a "stupid" rule are usually the same people who can't follow it. Who needs excessive caps and punctuation to express themselves, anyway? There's a reason why it was "excessive". Now we'll have virtual shouting instead of civilised (admittedly slightly chatspeak-y now) chats. Woo hoo?

I happen to like to EXPRESS EMOTIONS, caps are my way of emphasizing. I don't happen to enjoy using the same exact voice for every little words I do. I like to say 'YAEY!' when something good happens and not just 'Yay!' It sounds so much less enthusiastic. Yes, because subeta will now explode all because I can express more emotions. YAEY! (is that a pun or not...?!)

Dx Darn. I kind of liked the punctuation rule. x/ It made Subeta look like it was used by more intelligent people.

It's kind of hard to care when subeta's boards will go back to 'normal' when it's annoying as hell right now. :/

Ignoring it will just be the better solution.

Honestly it's not that big a deal to me. I understand people better when they write real English then that text talk bull. It's OK for phones but not much else.

Honestly people, there is huge difference between 'yes' 'Yes!' and 'YES!' Which sounds the most enthusiastic? Seriously guys Apparently we can't all live together happily without being like 'OHGOD, OHMAN, SUBETA IS GOING TO BECOME NEOPETS BECAUSE WE CAN USE CAPS NOW, RUN FOR THE HILLS!!!!'

Do you know why this is disallowed? Because staff cannot monitor/understand all the possible written or spoken lenguages in the world.

Yeah, this will probably get annoying because people will probably abuse their new freedom for a while. I hope that isn't the case though because i dislike having to decipher gibberish. *

Lots of love to Keith always.......You rule which means you get to make the rules. People need to read & heed.

No. Just no. As if I don't get caplock and bad punctuation enough from other sites. Subeta was seen as an escape from those places. People here were literate. Well, as literate as possible and I enjoyed not having to strain my eyes over the absurdity. I say, if you get rid of these two basic rules, you should get rid of the foreign language rule as well. There are some of us that would like to talk completely in another language, like French, German, Japanese, etcetera.

You're right btnuttier. Made the mistake myself. Was it an overuse of punctuation, such as excessive use of punctuation marks (or points). I must have come perilously close to getting a warning as I tended to include a few extra ! with my thanks.

Good.

I've gotten two warnings for capslock before, and I thought both times it was pretty obvious I was just doing it to be ironic/sarcastic/stupid on purpose :/ Sorry for joking around, jeez.

I'm amazed at how many people have confused punctuation with grammar. The rule was against excessive use of caps and punctuation, not bad grammar.

Hopefully Keith is right and the outpouring of caps and punctuation won't last more than a day or two.

Lol, I thought it was for not putting a capital at the beginning of a sentence. As for capital lock, who cares? Somebody just invented that it meant shouting. Weird really to be offended by capitals.

Fabulous. I just hope there aren't people who will go insane with capslock and improper grammar, not that I'm perfect. I suck at english. :c

I didn't even know this rule existed, but I'm glad it's gone. The stress of making a grammatical error on the forum would have been overwhelming. Not everyone can type well, so freezing someone for not including capital letters sounds tyrannical. Good riddance to bad rules.

YES. I hate caps abuse as much as the next guy, but I let myself slip sometimes. I used caps on other sites, and it was a hard habit to break. So I was one slipup away from a freezing, there. xD

YES. Finally. That rule was retarded. I even received a warning because I had some caps in a few urls I had posted before. That was some serious bull. And now I dont have to worry about people being all retarded because I wanted to EXPRESS MY OPINION... Which sometimes is hard to do in all lower case <3

And I also am pretty positive that subeta won`t have many problems with noobs or anything, everyone is is pretty mature most times anyways. Besides, its not like you cant message people.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Kalnu

Haha, I sent in a question about this. xD Is just kinda silly to be frozen or even warned for something like this, in my opinion. I'm sure that proper English is advised and stuff, but how would you feel to be frozen for something like that? =/ Thats all I gotta say.

....okay... I'm scared. It sounds like you've just said "type the way you do on MySpace, not how you would on an exam paper". Good thing I don't talk to people on Subeta much anyway, I suppose...

I had no idea this rule existed -Hides in the n00b boat- BUT. I'm glad it was lifted.

Quite a few people seem to be sad and are kissing their literate roleplays goodbye. Really, since Subeta is generally a 13+ site, we shouldn't have to worry about users misusing this new freedom. Right? Plus, it rather annoyed me when I was warned for typing a sentence I shouted in real life in caps. I actually said it like that, so I typed it like that. Glad that something so silly will no longer be counted against me.
