The only suggestion I have is to either make the text box with the users, pets and joined users today wider. So that the word 'Today' isen't falling half way through the bottom of it, or just remove that info and put it somewhere else I actually don't feel that bit fits in quite right where it is.

Other than that I quite like it, nice work!

After seeing it again this morning. Imo.. it really makes the site look cheap.
I'm sorry if this offends the creator but, from seeing recent profiles made, I think a majority of this site could create the same/better.
And as I said before, Subeta really needs some sort of a logo instead of the different variations of the text "subeta" thrown everywhere.

I like it, but I wish it was working for people with smaller resolutions...(I still use a 800*600 resolution ^^'' shame on me! XD But I'm just too used to it.) Maybe making layouts to match all the resolutions out there?

I like this one and the old one the same but the thing i do not like about this one is the kanis..don't get me wrong i love bunnies but I am not to crazy about the kains..when ever i look at it it just makes me think of how bad the kanis needs a revamp but the nightmare kanis is cool xd!

I think there should be multiple layout things that either cycle or match the current layout the user is using. Like, the front page with bloodred is really unattractive. x_X;

I changed mine to the default so it matches a bit more though, and it's a nice change.

The Neopets front page looks like visual vomit to me, whereas Subeta keeps it simple and pleasing to the eye.

Well done Keith & Staff, it looks amazing and neatly organized; I agree that the News looks better and makes much more sense contained on its own page.

I am not partial to the Kanis though, and always think of the Kumos when thinking of Subeta; even though it is not my Pet of choice, it does represent the site well.

I'm going to back Isa78's comments- The layout, to my eyes at least, is really unattractive. Also, why Kanis? The Kumos is the Subeta pet of choice, the first Subeta pet created, if I'm not mistaken.
Or like. Why not the Demi? Escalade? Endeavor? Keeto? The Kanis isn't exactly flashy and fancy, and looks rather like a Cybunny, which will just put people in mind of Neopets. Which we're trying to avoid, aren't we, ending up like Neopets?

I'm not reading 250+ comments when I just got online today.

The layout is pleasing, but it does not display right. The boxes are misaligned, token shop items are layering outside the box , and text is layered on top of itself. I am running Iceweasel browser (Debian's Firefox) on a Linux (sidux) O/S.

Personally I loved the old one much more. Like many have said I don't like the regular picture of the Kanis. I loved the rotating pictures of the pets, and how they weren't just copy-pasted pictures. They were original. I remember being very happy when that rotating front page showed up. I showed the site to a couple of my friends and when they saw the front page, they went "Woah, cool! I wanna join!" but this new one doesn't have the same effect at all.

I also miss the news being on the front page. The new organization is annoying.

It's a lot simpler.. But I don't like it. For some reason, the Kanis doesn't do justice to all the new and improved art that's on this site. The green Nightmare Kanis just... looks funny. There's something wonky with the design of it all that kind'a puts me on edge. I don't really want to look at it for too long..

Oh, and the orange font might be due to my layout preference (Reborn). Perhaps, as others have recommended, the front page layout might change according to which site layout a user has selected?

I, too, am somewhat bothered by the Kanis and color scheme.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the Kanis and I really don't think it represents Subeta. I think one of the more unique pets (like an Endeavor or Escalade) would give the site an edgier welcome so that people realize it's not as cushy and kiddie as Neopets. I mean, just imagine what might happen if newbies tried to join on the SB and realized that conversations weren't limited to fuzzy fluff and rainbows. Unless Subeta intends to lower its ageappropriateness to follow suit, in which case I would really be disappointed Rah, you're a great artist, but I just don't think the Kanis is the image most of us have for Subeta. I like the idea of bringing back the rotating pet portraits, but think maybe you could also lend that to the ''reflection'' image the layout is going for. Maybe have a regular Demi and a Reborn version for its counterpart, that way greater variety of pets AND colors can be expressed.

As to the colors, the green makes me nauseous. Not to mention it completely distorts the image of the Nightmare Kanis. It looks slimy and ill. And, if you're going to decide upon a color scheme, it really should be from the same portion of the color wheel (IE: No orange font). You can still have variety without clashing. And I don't see what would have been so wrong with keeping the Nightmare Kanis black. I think you're more apt to confuse users when they first approach the site and later, perhaps, determine that they want that pet on the front page. Best to not mislead them on their first encounter with the site, right?

Finally, I haven't personally checked the links, but they should probably be tested and updated accordingly. There's nothing worse than coming to a site offering FAQs only to find that there are none! Or to try any of the other links with the faith that they won't give you an error or fail to lead you anywhere. That just screams non-user-friendly and disorganized, in my experience.

I'm not saying it's a bad update or even an undeserved one, but it could definitely use some more work. Subeta has almost always been good about taking into account the opinions of its users, so I hope our input won't be overlooked on this issue that will determine the future population of the site!

I like the idea but...it loads really slowly for me. Not kidding, i had opened a tab for Neo and one for subeta and they took about the same time to load I think if some of the ideas/comments here are taken into account it could be really good. I would like to see something a little more innovative I guess too...it is a lot like neo's homepage in little ways (but waaaay less cluttered and annoying, and thank the lord, no stupid ads!!) Yep, that's my 2 cents

I'm not sure why everyone is calling this a Neopets clone - I just opened Neo for the first time in MONTHS, (can't log in because I have forgotten my password) and I don't see the similarity at all.

And with respect to my earlier comment about using it in IE at work on my large screen (the new stuff was all stuck at the bottom)... it looks much better with Firefox. It also works in IE here at home... not sure why it wasn't behaving on my work monitor.

I like it! The only negative comment I have about it (which has been mentioned before) is that the Users/Pets/Users joined today section falls partially outside of its box... which I'm sure is an easy fix.

I liked the idea of the pets changing on the former layout. That gave a wider insight into the different pets Subeta has to offer. The Kanis really bugs me too. I agree with some people when they said that the Kumos would have been a better choice.
I just came onto the new page, and it really DOES look more cutesy and like neopets to me. =/ But I love the graphic change. The design itself could have been better if you wanted to attract new users... I can understand subeta is still going under some changes though.

I'm not impressed for many of the reasons already stated below... It would not draw me into the site, and it does not match/show what Subeta really excels at, the artwork.

And to whomever said it was a Neo clone, that is dead on, and not a positive. Also, does a newbie really care about new items? or even cash shop items? I doubt it. As for organization and less clutter? it seems to me that the same stuff is there, just moved around. And it looks just as busy as it ever did, if not worse. I think I'll be switching my Home Page to the news page now...

why is everyone following in each others footsteps - make it different and stand out - then you are the leader and others will copy. better to be the origonal than a follower.

Maybe it's just me, but it looks more cluttered than before with all the separate graphics & links. It also makes me feel like I'm logged out, I guess cause I'm used to seeing the news page. And lastly, the graphics are nicer but the kanis' foot is cut off. XD

I don't want to be hypercritical, but I have a few comments.

First, speaking as a web designer, it really does not match the rest of the site layout at all. Which, is ok for now if you plan to make the rest of the site in the same style. Also it is not very original as it reminds me of a Neopets clone.

As a site member, my first thought was "Where is the Kumos?" I have no idea why the Kanis was chosen, but it just seems a bit too cutesy for a more mature pet site.

I do understand the site needs to progress. Like any game site you want it to look nice, be well-coded, and to generate a profit. It IS nice work, but I believe if you think outside the box a bit (like you did when this site was created) you can come up with a layout that is a bit edgier, less cookie-cutter, and more suited to Subeta.

I love it, but the old one is much more convenient with the news there... Or maybe you can make the site homepage and the user homepage different~ So after you log in, you'll get those news as the homepage...
