My suggestion would be to make it bend forward, hunched even. I'd cut the space for the tail, so there should be more space left for the head and the ear. I guess my problem with its expression is that the angry eyes don't fit to the emotionless mouth and almost scared looking ears ... if you know what I mean I'd reduce the fluff in front of its chest and add more to the shoulder as well. Maybe the nose could be more flat? Okay, that's it with my suggestions ... before I get stoned here sigh On the other hand I think the feet with the claws are done nicely even though it looks more like a rat than a bat hugs her Wyllop And the wings are nice.

Oh my, the new one is almost perfect! I'd just reeeaaally like it if the new one still had the sneer that gave the old one its personality. You know, instead of a smirk? Smirk + Lasirus = no.

Also, THANK. YOU. for fixing the head:body ratio. It's always bugged me like you wouldn't believe. I also like that it's been slimmed down a bit - much more aerodynamic, no?

Thanks so much for all the helpful suggestions! I'm the artist for this revamp. I'm glad it's generally appealing and the critiques are so well thought out.

One thing I have to say about the image quality; this pixely.. strange 'dithering' in some of the colors, is that it was not intentional, and the only art program I have that can save under gif. files has a horrible tendency to 'optimize' the image. I didn't think it was noticeable at all, but you guys have eagle eyes! I'll definitely get that fixed though.

The back ear, I must admit, is somewhat a result of getting it to fit, but also to add in the effect of aggression. The ears folded back means this guy is being cautious and not happy. But I will see what I can do.

And as probably stated oodles of times before, the calmer expression is for the neutral common color. I still tried to show that it's a fiendish little dude though.
I promise to make the Bloodred, Nightmare, and other scary colors very terrifying! XD
And yeah, I was trying to go for a fruit/fox bat type thing. Those bats have got to be the most awesome things on Earth, haha.

Eh. The shading needs more contrast. I can barely see it.

All right, I'm a little nit picky here so bear with me. I've been seeing this generally happening with the pet revamps, the pets start gaining a more... generic redo, I guess I can say.

The lasirus went from angry, evil, slightly deformed (hunched) to 'I'm cute but I'll nibble on your finger >' The old one looked like 'Betch if you even try to hug me I'll bite you!!' Some pets give off that aura of only meant for people who like angry looking pets who seem untameable, but this gives off the feeling that even a toddler could play with it. The way the face on this one is that it looks like it can go from mad to happy happy face, and the old Lasirus gave off the feeling that even when it was happy it would look evil.

I dunno, I guess it's too cutesy for what it used to be XD; The line art is very nice, but the dithering on the wing throws me off.

Oh yeah, oh love your crits, Luxe. Considering you were AD for eons I think your judgement is pretty darn good :O

This is awsome, I never really liked the old Lasirus since it wasn't appealing, it looked way too angry. I like this revamp much better since it it looks alot more like a rat/bat mix; it just really does it justice this time around. I may even get one of these if they decide to revamp it

Thank goodness.

I have been wanting this buggers to get revamped since my first day on Subeta.

A lot of the others have pointed out the major flaws, but the way it seems is that this is a Rat and bat combined (no bat would have a body structure like that lower half, nor the elongated face, and the tail, don't get me started there.) If the artist was going for full bat, I'd have to say that they REALLY need a new reference for that.....XD

I'd really mostly like a compacted face more, but it looks cute.

I LOVE this one. Enough to consider it one of my top three favorite pets. Noticed that Nestly did it right away. XD My favorite part is the snout, it's just so... awesome looking. The shading on the right wing also attracts me. The slight transparency in the wings is great, too! Eeee.

I lovelovelove this revamp! I've been waiting for the revamp on my favourite pet FOREVER! Instead of carping on the tiny flaws, I'd like to laud Nestly for the excellent wings she's drawn. The shape is just gorgeous, and realistic, and the light transparency makes me go like this, :3!

Bats are my favourite animal, I have a batsona, and I have the feeling I'll be changing my Experiment Menagerie into a Lasirus Belfry when this is implemented. x3

Wow! It looks like the Lasirus is finally on the way to a gorgeous revamp!

As many other people have already pointed out, there are a few changes that could be made. The biggest issue for me would be the position of the back ear. Raeven_DarkWings did a great job at pointing out how the ear should look. Other than that perspective problem, i'm really loving this new artwork. :3

I like it! The smaller head makes it look several times its original size, but that old head was a little unpleasant looking to me. And you KEPT the ORIGINAL COLORS, YAAAYYYY!!!!!! I cannot praise you enough for doing that!!! The only change I would suggest is that the rings on the tail skin ought to be much, much thinner per the original just because now they do not look like anything based on 'reality'--look at photos of an opossum's tail and you will see what I mean. But aside from that I think it's lovely!

I like the new one better. The old one just seemed very squat and had this head that seemed a bit too huge for the body. Some people have pointed out the new head seems a little small and I kind of agree but I still like it better as the total flow of the body works much better.

I think it's fantastic! The thin face works for me, it gives it a bit more of the rat feel so it's not just a bat with a tail. I've always loved this pet even though I don't haveone of my own (if only!) and this makes me love it even more. Wonderful job!!!

Excuse? Huh? No, I'm surprised so many people like it! That's all o.O I expected more people NOT to like the revamp because it clearly has flaws. Sorry, never was interested in that species anyway but now I really don't like it anymore and I will never create a Lasirus for my account. And I can state my opinion as well as anyone else here. I thought the old one was more "unique".

The new version looks ever so wonderful. But theres a few things ive noticed.

First of all, its right ear doesnt appear to naturally stick onto its head. It seems to look like it should be at a totally different angle, from the way it attatches to the head.

Also, i know the lasirus is a sorta bat/ rat cross, but the skin on the wings, i dont know what its formally called, but on a bat, they should join the body around its legs. On its left wing, it looks like it joins the body at the shoulder. Which bugs me, as it should be much further down (It also doesnt match where the other wing joins, which is around the waist area by the looks of it)

I love the new image! Yes, please do! I love bats (favorite animal) and this new version really does justice for the pet! the old one just seemed... a bit fugly. I'm so excited about the new look! If it becomes a reality, it will probably surpass the Montre as my favorite Subeta pet!

As to the people saying the ear can't be fixed and some other things because of the image size... the old one has it hunched over in that Igor-esque position. That's something interesting to me; why not keep that position and just fix the few anatomy flaws in this? It could still look pretty evil and sinister; I think that's what gave it the flair. All hunched over and practically hissing at you with the fangs bared.

It looks so happy. xD Overall, it's really nice. I like the tail and chest fur a lot. It's right ear is a little funny looking, and the face looks too small, but even if these things aren't changed it'll still be a great revamp. Lovin' it.

Hey, I'm sure some of these things have been said already, but it never helps to re-iterate it; Helps you find out just how many people noticed one problem! (:

I think this is an absolutely beautiful redraw! I've always been a big Lasirus fan (Obviously, with my Galactic Lasi!) and so I'm really happy to see it get such a beautiful redraw! But, as with many pictures, there are some )fairly minor and easily fixable) flaws that I think, if fixed, could make this even better. (:

First off, as I'm sure people have stated, the dithered quality to it makes it look less 'real'. With most of the other pets, the lines and such are so smooth you sometimes forget they're just drawings! If there is any way this could be fixed, I unfortunately don't know it (aside from just getting a different art program) but if someone can help you with that I think it'd be great. (:
(Some main areas I notice could be smoothened are on the ears, the farthest wing and the farthest leg+foot.)

Second, there are some little shape issues that aren't incredibly bad, but are still rather distracting from the quality of the rest of the image. Namely the very slender face (just doesn't seem natural for a Lasirus; Or any bat for that matter! Bats tend to have very wide faces) and the closest foot. The middle paw-toe is slightly above the other two, which doesn't make sense and looks odd. I would suggest simply moving it a bit lower, so it looks even- like all the toes are on the ground.

As for what people said about the chest fur and the angular-scales on the tail, I think those look marvelous! I'd be sad to see them changed- They look so beautiful! Sure, they're not exactly like the old Lasirus, but this isn't supposed to be the old Lasirus! It resembles it, but it's supposed to improve. Giving it lower-quality features won't improve it, and it still looks like a Lasi even with the small adjustments. (: I really hope those things stay the same, though. I kind of like the idea of a somewhat clean and elegant bat character!

Hopefully this isn't too long or anything! I think it's my first time posting on a news comment (or anywhere else on the site; I tend to just stick to myself!) so I'm not sure what kind of limitations or rules there are!

I know, NoirRaven, but it was nice having a common pet that deviated from the norm for once and leaned more toward the crazed-looking side. So many other pet revamps (including special colors) have turned pets with dynamic personalities into either smirky little kittens or surly teenagers, which have become the norm for ALL pet colors, and it gets disappointing after a while.

But oh well. Doesn't bother me enough to raise a stink about it. At least the art looks nice (a bit dithered, but that seems to be the style for most pet art nowadays). As long as the Bloodred one retains that nice rabid "...I might do it again..." look, I'll be satisfied.

I think the art quality on this one (e.g. shading and so forth) is much better than the old one, but the previous version was more "chibi," and I liked that. There's something very compelling about evil chibi creatures.

Lypsyl, I'm sure the redraw colors will be plenty evil. The Bloodred especially, which is what your Lasirus is.

The old Lasirus had exactly one personality - evil little bat. The new one however can go a multitude of ways, from evil to spoiled kid, to plan friendly.
The common pose of a pet should be as personality neutral as possible in my opinion, leaving the redraw colors to darken or lighten the mood of a pet to cater to people who like different personalities.

One of the key components of the old Lasirus was the evil expression so I am glad that it wasn't taken away completely as it would have altered the pet too drastically. But by toning down the evil vibes a bit it still manages to keep a lot of the feel of the old one while softening the pet up and making it more flexible personality wise.

I'm sad. My first love, and first pet was Acajou, my Lasirus. I love the sinister look, the eyeteeth poking out of its mouth and its expression. The new body, tail, colouring, even the ears and stripes on the legs are all fine. But the new face is just too cutesy. There are plenty of cutesy pets, I even have a few, for those who like that. But we're running out of more sinister looking ones. I don't want Acajou to look cutesy. I want her fierce.

angelembryo: Don't screw up the base when there are special colors still to contend with. If you want psychotic, paint your lasirus Bloodred or Graveyard. (And quite possibly, Nightmare, in the near future of course.)
