The Serpenths, seeing the Aeries fussing over each other in the treetops around Subeta, grew jealous--just slightly jealous, they claim.
Without a word, they all slithered off into the night (much to the joy of the smaller species, who would finally have a bit of rest without fear of being eaten), leaving many owners confused as to the whereabouts of their beloved pets.
But of course, they've returned--and brought a surprise with them. No one is quite certain where those patterns came from, but they seem a bit attached.
What do you think?

I love the new serpenty look, much less cartoony. I do not like the color one bit; some of us have chosen our pets very carefully for color and the default black and white for the Common serpenth is very important to at least one person I know who named it after something black and white--this pet would be rendered meaningless by a brown coloring. I know many people name their pets according to colors or have meaningful symbolism attached to the pets' colors, so revamps should not change the old colors entirely. As far as the artwork goes, as I said I love it but the mane looks like a somewhat matted toupeé rather than a mane of feathers like the old one does. It needs to be flared, standing up more stiffly or something. I love the tongue!

Don't quite get why people keep saying the new one looks like a hissi. o.0 The new one looks very little to not at all similar to a hissi (yeah, both snake with wings but it stops there) while the old look a tad more like a hissi. Tho, the serpenth has been around longer than the hissi anyway, I don't really think that's much to bother about.

I'm not too found of how the wings seem to just grow out of the snake, but from what I've read posted from DNA it seems like she is going to work on that, so I've nothing more to say. (: I love love love it!

I love this revamp. That is one sexy Serpenth, and it's making me really glad that I have one right now. I am wondering how it'll effect the galactic one, if it'll change at all to match this redraw. Although I like the current galactic, if it's changed to match the new one, I wouldn't complain. That revamp is just... wow.

Hmm. Overall my first impression is that it looks very good -- there's no comparison really, art-wise. It's wonderfully done!

Small qualms: To me, the old one looks like a serpant that is flying/hovering in the air. The new one, on the other hand, looks like a snake on the ground that has wings. It lacks the floaty-ness, you could say? It also has a distinctly jungle/amazon/tribal look to it, IMHO, which the old one definitely lacked. I'm not saying that's good or bad though . . . but it does have an entirely different "feel" to it, overall.

I've always loved snakes, but never got a Serpenth because of their somewhat cartoonish look. But now I'm seriously regretting it. (Must get more pet slots...) And I love the pattern on the scales. It makes the pet seem so much more... well, snake-like.

My only critique is that the wings seem too thick (especially where they join the body). The hair bothers me too, but that's just a personal opinion; the art itself is good.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

hmm... perhaps it will change my changed serpenth. This I'm not happy about. I like her the way she is with her spectrum colors. I love her wings, they're so pretty the way they are.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Since my Serpenth has been changed, it doesn't really make a difference for me. But I wouldn't want it to change. The reason I chose that pet in the first place was because of the way it looked. Will the arid potion make it look like the original? It'll still look changed. That's just my opinion. I voted no, but the majority has said yes. shrug oh well.

They are changing the color as DNA and Keith said because the originals color scheme was on the line of the Arid's color palette. As Keith said you like the older color then just get a Arid potion or the like to make it so. o-o;

Love:
The markings, wings, color and eyes.

Hate:
The feathers straggling out at the bottom look silly/slapped on.
That color isn't great for a common, especially since the old common is white.
Not too fond of the hair. Too pretty boy.
The smile looks a bit silly on the new version. It also looks too... Kind. like My Little Pony kind. It's a snake, it's not meant to look cute.
It looks awfully similar to a Hissi. ( http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/2162/hissi50vs.gif )

Suggestions:
Leave the markings alone. They help make the Hissy Serpenth more real but also have them differ slightly with special/certain colors. To mimic real snakes in the wild. I.E. Field Serpenth = Green Tree Snake.

Make the hair more mane like, rather than pretty boy or better yet, make it feathers instead of hair/fur.

With all the pet revamping that's been going on lately, I'm not really surprised to see another. But I'm glad to see that this time it is the Serpenth! This is one pet that in my opinion, really needed the change.
The new look has really captured that adorable serpentine look, with its cute little fork tongue flicked out and that snakey stance.
Nice! This is by far my favorite revamp!

Ok, for those complaining about the bushy, messed up looking hair, what type of ultra mega hold hairspray do you suggest a flying hairy snake use while flying through the winds and still keep its hair perfectly styled? Some of these critiques are downright funny to read. I mean, It's a flying snake, if you move the wings any higher it's going to look like a flying question mark or something, what is going to balance out and support it's tail? I think this is a dramatic improvement over the extremely plain and boring old one and that the artist did a great job on it.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Templar

Eveb a serpent that's not meant to be.... realistic.... would have no point to having wings that resemble Pop-Eye The Sailor Man's arms when it comes to bulk. It would weigh the snake down and it wouldn't be able to strike, it wouldn't help it fly at all, and it would be seriously hard to get around on those. Don't get me wrong- I do like the overall design, but the wings do need to be fixed.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Personally it seems to me like the artist drew the head and body of a snake, finished it, and then drew the hair, wings and tail. I dunno = , the hair and wings just don't seem to connect well with the body, and the position of the tail looks odd. I like the detail on the wings, and that some feathers are hanging loose, but the top of the wings look too bulgy. I also think it needs a comb and hairgel to get back the spiky hair XD But I like the body design and pose very much. =)

Over all I think that this design is a lovely piece of work and I know this has been heard a few times but I believe that moving the wings up a tiny bit would balance out the body a bit better given that it looks like this critter would be a little too front heavy to fly properly if it is a true creature of flight. Also if the wings were moved up some say to just below the ending of the mane, I think that seeing more of the body would just accent this design.

I almost think that the eye looks either too small or two dark compared to the rest of the head. I find it to be a little confusing because of the way the eye is shaded.

I must say that I really like the patterning and the addition of the ventral scales. It really adds to the serpenth's snake appearance and gives it nice visual weight. I think the rest of the way the whole pet is shaded is wonderfully done and I love the variety of textures captured in the body.

Ihkura I have to disagree with pretty much everything you had said. This is a pet site. NOT a place in which all its pets have to look EXACTLY like real life dynamics. Pretty much all of the pets here are some how off. But still Subeta pretty much has the best art for a pet site on the whole internet. Who cares if the wings don't look completely perfect and similar to a birds wing. Its a drawn, NON REALISTIC, PIXEL. Christ-sakes. You have got to be one of the most rude person I have seen on subeta. I'd like to see you draw something as amazing as that. Personally I really like the new art, it is a huge improvement. DNA , great work! Keep it up. You don't have to listen to the negative art basher's. They seriously need a reality check. ITS A PET SITE. Okay I'm done my rant.

I think the mane looks too wavy, the wings need to be moved up a bit further (they look too low on the body to me), the ''armpit feathers'' as someone called them (lol, that phrase makes me laugh for some reason. xD) are just plain distracting, and the colors bug me. But that's okay about the colors, since we'll be able to potion them anyway, and other than those little flaws, it really is a big improvement.

However, the whole Aerie revamp thing got lost in the rollback, so you still need to bring the poll back for that. xD

While I generally dislike revamps, I find this one to be actually decent. I have the same gripes as some users, however; Common pets are supposed to be common. I can see the massive amount of detailed designs making us wait longer to get our pets revamped and released. I also find that it looks sort of odd with the mane and the strange random feathers at the base of the wings. The wings themselves look far too muscular to actually help the pet fly, they look more like bulky arms with feathers on them.. and I also find the connection between them and the body to be off.... and the pose isn't as dynamic as the old one, but if things are changed, I can see this going well.

I adore the new design! From an artists point of veiw, I agree the wings need a little adjusting, the hair, blahblahblah. I think you already heard that at least 90 million times so you don't need to hear it from me.

However, this is probably new - perhaps you could adjust the tail slightly? The way the tip does that weird sort of 'S' shape just looks a bit...iffy. I dunno. Maybe you could make it curve upwards, instead of downwards? That may make it look more...correct.

But all in all, DNA, fabulous job! You're quickly becoming my favorite artist on this site <3 Not that I'm one to pick favorites! ....-shifty eyes-

I like everything about it 'cept the hair. It looks greasy. I saw it and thought "AIZEN." Yeah, might not make sense to most, but yeah... And I think the wings sould be a little higher up. And the wing's color is a bit bright for the rest of the design. They stick out too much.

Other than those little details, very nice. ^^ I'm all for it.

First off, I would like to say I absolutely adore this new design. It's a large update to the original, and I'm pleased with how the artists are working hard to lean more towards 'realistic' animals, giving the creatures more life. Now, towards all you who claim it looks 'exactly like a Hissi'. I have a rather large rant dedicated to you all.

First off, the Serpenth was out WAY before the Hissi. Hissi is a new neopet, where as the Serpenth is a rather old Subeta pet. If anything, the HISSI looks just like the Serpenth.

Also; omfg, winged snakes have totally never ever been done before so subeta must have tly stolen the idea from Adam!

HAH! Winged Snakes, or Winged 'Serpents' date far FAR back into history. Quetzalcoatl, for example, was a historic Aztec sky and creator god, who took on the shape of a Winged Serpent. GASP! Is there a possibility that the creators of Serpenth's may have gotton their ideas from there!? No, impossible! They must have stolen them from Hissi's, because lord knows the second a creature looks at all like a neopet, it instently is copyright infrigment! Honestly.

Another thing; okay, so their both serpents. And they both have wings. There is a LARGE difference between the two, even then. For one, a Hissi's wings are more of a demonic-angelic combination, where as the Serpenths are feathery. The Serpenths have fur on their spines, where as Hissi's lack any fur at all. A Hissi's head is shorter, and blockier, where as a Serpenth's is rounder and longer.

I play both Neopets and Subeta, so I know my facts, thank you very much. You obviously need to dig deeper into your own facts before you go around claiming that 'omfgsubetastealsartanddesigns!'

Ihkura, I'm normally one of the first people to notice things about animals and wildlife and things. And you had a fair point. My problem was with how rude you worded that. DNA worked hard on this and I'm sure she doesn't appreciate people telling her she needs to brush up on her skills like that. The way you said it sounded belittling and unkind, and that irked me just as the wing problem irked you, that's all.

and Alraune, saying you don't like something is a lot different than saying someone really needs to brush up on their skills. I was talking to Ihkara, no need to interject like that. And I rarely ever make that "Why don't you do it then" comparison... this time it seemed to fit though.

Sheesh, I wasn't trying to cause all this grief.

Personally I feel that the new Serpenth is obviously an improvement. Just a few gripes...

The markings are not necessary. The revamp already looks great without them, and the old one didn't have any at all. The general colouring is otherwise a lot more natural, but the mane could be a bit less shaggy near the back.

One last thing I'd like to add, for the sake of most Serpenth owners (me included), is that please please try not to change the special colours too much. The Hydrus, Spectrum, and Reborn already look great (although that Angelic and Graveyard could use a touch-up), and the Galactic doesn't need to be revamped at all. Please don't make any unnecessary revamp. I've already lost my RB Tigrean and I don't want to lose another lovely pet.
