I like how the dragons are similar, in a way...it makes them seem as if they are all biologically related. I do miss the whiskers, though, they were nice.

Anywho, all the basic colors are the same pose- I'm saying it would be fun if they weren't. Of course, that would require a new bit of art for every pet in every basic color which is a lot of work. But I think it'd be fun (seeing the new Dragon made me think of new poses for pets in general).

Augh, I just noticed that the new Dragon doesn't have those whiskers as someone mentioned! Drat, I thought those were cute! Guess I was focused on the new wings or something.

I'm getting a little annoyed that people keep going 'It's based on a dragon! Therefore it MUST have wings.' Have you no imagination? This is a PET SITE. Dogs can go oink and Zebras can be the size of stadiums. The ORIGINAL DRAGON for subeta NEVER had wings and ALWAYS had whiskers. If the dragon had always gone by normal 'dragon' standards, then fine. Give it wings.

Pet sites are supposed to be unique, pets that don't blatantly rip off some other kind of mystical creature (have similarities yes, but if you guys are going back and basically saying "X is a chinese Dragon and X is a western dragon" then it no longer becomes an original creature to subeta) I can understand people like dragons, but now subeta has FOUR dragons and 3 look VERY similar. Leviathan is a type of dragon, it doesn't need wings. Neither did this dragon.

*sighs* Whatever happened to polls...? I can imagine, since 75% of the site hasn't come back yet, that even more people will be shocked by the drastic change :/ Not to be negative, but it's just a subtle change would have been so much better....and the whiskers~

I personally find the old dragon pose to have been unique. It's a very rare pose for an image, while this is... unoriginal and generic. Blah.

I think that the point of the Revamped Dragon straying a bit from the path has been a bit beet into the ground so I would like to, not that it'll make overmuch of a difference now that it's been released, make some constructive points:

The wings look as though they attach a little high up, like on the neck, and personally I would have liked to see big full dragon wings that are more membranous and that span the full length of the body (see why: http://www.dreslough.com/main/WINGS/wings8.html) so long as the Dragon is now supposed to be extremely Westernized.

The shading on the dragon I have no issue with, except that on the left (our left) leg, the shading for the knee and upper leg seems to begin awfully high up, creating as many have pointed out, a lumpy look. I don't think he's lumpy elsewhere.

The Chai looks like an updated Chai and makes them a little less unappealing (I think it's the less fluffy eye-rims) and more dynamic. As long as I blasted the Dragon's wings I feel like I should say that the left (again, our left) leg indicates either a very wide rear-end (which could be played with) or something wrong.

That all said, I still think both images are excellent AND although I think previous Dragon-lovers have made themselves clear I like this one better. That old, you can only see the head and a bit of foreshortened body picture made me extremely loathsome of the species.

Scy64, I think the colors you're missing are Darkmatter and Chibi.

I didn't notice much of a pose change UNLESS it was a "special" color. Dawn and Sun and Twilight (basics?) all look the same to me, pose wise.

I like most people, could do without the wings. But it really don't matter- some dragons have wings and some don't (as has been mentioned), and this one does now. I'm glad that the shading is a little bit better, and the pose is more interesting to look at.

I'm still all for each basic color (Dawn, Dusk, Marsh, etc) having its own pose. I've been seeing that the most popular colors aren't always fo the color, but for the fact that the pet is actually posed differently. It'd be a lot of work, but I think people would be pulling for more 'basic colors' along with the tradiational Bloodred, Spectrum, Reborn, Angelic and Graveyard (perhaps another, I forget), that we always see.

BTW, something in my gut told me the Chais would be revamped soon and I have to say it's a lovely job. I'm going to stay out of the Dragon debate, however. ^^;

I thought the staff here were sticklers for protecting the "original concept" of pets? So why the sudden addition of wings? The Dragon NEVER had wings, and there's no rule stating that every dragon should. Are all the reptilian (and gargoyle) species on this site doomed to look alike? The new Dragon marks yet another blow to the uniqueness Subeta once had, and the variations that made each different pet special. It even has the same rounded, blobby, balloon-ish shading that all the other recent art has shown instead of the nice, crisp, simple coloring and the smooth angularity that made the Dragon look so sleek and sophisticated. Even the eyes and muzzle are so vastly different that they completely change its character. This looks more like something I'd expect to see floating down the street at a Macy's parade. But maybe that's what Subeta wants now? Classic marketability?

Such a drastic change should have been polled. That's all there is to it.

And Oh wow, I just noticed they changed the collar charm on the Chai to suit the color..? Kinda like the Popoko. :3 That's a fun idea.~

According to a book called "The Natural history of Dragons and Unicorns" by Paul Johnsgard and Karin Johnsgard (a rather humorous look of "IF Dragons and Unicorns are real, this is how they would have lived&quot, they claim dragons either have 2 limbs or 4 limbs. 2 limbs like a snake with wings, called a wyvern, or 2 wings and 2 limbs like a bird or bat, or all four feet like a lizard or crocodile.

So a 6 limbed dragon (4 walking feet, 2 wings) the book reasons is not possible in the natural world, as only insects have evolved that way, and a dragon's closest relatives, reptiles and birds, have modified forearms or rib extensions. A 4 legged dragon with wings is ONLY possible in fairy tales.

This is an online game, and not a depiction of real life. However, I chose to make a Dragon for Forgotten_mists BECAUSE the Dragon species was eastern in appearance, and the drastic change is not welcomed. If I wanted a western dragon, I would have chose the Dragarith.

There is no reason to have this many western dragons on the site.

I dunno, i think the new dragons look good, but they could do without the wings. I didn't like the old dragon's pose so the new one is good. And i think the scales should be highlighted.

Each of the dragon species are very different, but they will always share common traits because they are all dragons. The species the Dragons most resemble in their current form is the Magnus, not Dragrath. Even then it's only passing, because the Magnus has much less pronounced horns and ridges, as well they have ears. My bets are that once the Magnus gets a revamp the similarities won't be as noticeable.

What bothers me is now there are three VERY similar species of pets. Before the dragon didn't have wings, so it stuck out from the others, like the paralix. Now it, the dragarth and the magnus all have similar features. It also lost it's personality, I think. The old pose was wonderful, I don't know why they thought it needed to be changed. I don't have a Dragon, Dragarth or a Magnus, but it disappoints me to see them all with the same features. ._.;

My alternative to "If you want an eastern get a paralix." Well, if you want a western dragon, there's two options available. Now there's three. I hope the paralix doesn't get revamped, it looks great as is and I'd hate to have to change MorbidThoughts.

Not bad, I definitely like these dragons better. Granted they are huge deviation from the original but they look more like (western) Dragons now, as their name implies they are. I for one have always known (eastern) dragons as Lung Dragons or Long Dragons. Lets hope the Paralix gets a revamp and looks as good, same with the Magnus.

I like the new dragon, the old one was so squashed in on itself. It having wings now really doesn't bother me - though I don't own one so that might be why

I'd originally edited out the wings too, but then the nose wouldn't round out for me and there were some people who liked it so... I just threw them back on. But anyway, I don't mind at all.

Hope you don't mind minno150, but I edited that picture you edited. I think the scales needed their old green shade, I didn't change the whiskers but I removed the wings. There it is, if you don't want me using it I'll delete it from my photobucket. xD
