I like the cleaness and updated looking art of the new one, But I liked the more quill looking mane and the horn angle of the old one. Also, where are the spots that are suppost to be on the hip on the new one?

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

The new one looks great for the art itself.

What -realy- buggs me since the first sight of it is the funny angle of the horn..
(and the tail seems a little too... long at the base? dunno whats wrong with it excatly... and the old one looks like it has a crest of hair, this one more like it has a bulk of hair... like a hedgehog, dislike that a little)
Yes, i realise that was stated hundred(?) of times already. X3

But as long as the colours of the old Sun Demi will stay the same, i fear it has to be fine to me. X3
desperatly needs more petspots for all the long planed pets

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

The old one. This new one just doesn't have the right stripe from the eye down the rest of the body, somehow, and its mane/hair thing is too fluffy and not as natural-looking. It IS well-drawn, to be sure, but it just isn't a Demi.

I voted for the old, I do like the fact that they didn't completely change the look cough chibi malticorn cough but there is just something about it that doesn't appeal to me anymore like the old demi. The tail for one just lays there on the ground, and the horn and some other things that were previously mentioned are off. It looks a bit lifeless to me.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Im not too sure about the new demi... It's horn looks a little off and its eyes don't look as sweet and innocent looking as the old one. I voted for the old.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I prefer the old demi. The color of the redraw seems a bit paler. And the horn sticks up at an odd angle. The tail seems out of place in the redraw. I really like the old demi. But as long as the Dark Matter Demi doesn't change, I'm fine with it.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

While I adore the old one, and feel that this redraw has been unneeded, I know that the new one will go through, they always do. Which is sad. I love my Baso the way he is.
But to give more constructve critisim, the old one is a little cartoony but it has an edge to it that I love. This new one is very flat seeming, not friendly. And as others have pointed out the tail and horn aren't in the right spots. The tail alone looks like its at a completely different focal point then the rest of the body. And the head is too round, and id ont know but pudgy? And I love the mohawk/dreds on the old one - this one is more like - "i'm gonna try to have dreds And an afro at the same time" it just doesnt work.

I hope this one doesnt go through, the old one just looked right. It fit the personality that I gave Abasole. If this goes through he'll look like some Victorian elitest. and that's not really what i was going for.

The revamp version is pretty okay but I believe it's a little too fluffy. It's drawn very well and it looks good but I personally think it's too fluffy and innocent when I think that a Demi should be playful and silly.

I dislike th revamped version. The face is all wrong on this one.

I realize that the staff is trying to make all the species pretty much expressionless so users can make up personalities for all their pets and not be locked into the 'draw' personality. But many of us picked these pets FOR the faces and expressions. :/

Demis ahve been my favorite species since I joined. I hope this revamp doesn't go thru, it will be yet another pet of mine I will end up potioning. :/

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

The more I look at it, the more I like the new version I really love the finer lines, and the elegance of this new version. It's the siamese of the demi world! The new eyes, I personally think look spot-on. I always found the old demi more innocent and possibly zoned-out than mischievous, and am very enamoured with this redraw. The fur looks much softer and less spine-like, which personally I prefer - But that's just my view. The only critisims I would have are that the tail looks rather flat, especially around the base, and the horn doesn't stand out very much. Although it does seem well placed. The paws are also rather large, which is appealing, but more slender paws would possibly fit the new elegant look better. Great job! Just please never change the reborn demi. clings to Passion1888 and burns himself

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I really like the Old one for the richness of the colors and the youthful expression. The new one is just dull!

The leanness of the New version ages it too much for me. Also the horn and hairline just seem off. It's missing the spots on it's thigh and the tail should be perkier.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Ehh... Personally, I didn't feel like this even needed a revamp.

The coloring is not as rich, and I borderline saying it goes as far as being bland next to the old Demi, and the paws are too plushie like... the horn is off, the tail and mane don't seem right... The proportions don't seem to carry that same adolesence that I liked about the Demi. His proportions gave him a certain character that really drew me to him.

I dislike this revamp, and honestly, the only thing I see good about it are the lines, much smoother.

Sorry to the Artist, if it was just judging the piece I would like it, but comparing it from old to new, I have to prefer old.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

As everyone else said, the horn seems off. I also think the mane (are those really quills?) looks a bit too fluffy. Yes, it dosn't have 'OMGKAWAII" look of the last one, but if you ask me, it's much better looking this time around. Thing is, both of my beloved Demis are colored (reborn and darkmatter) and so I don't know if my opinion counts as much as someone with a simpler color (Marsh, Lilac, Sun, ect), but as long as the complex colors (graveyard, reborn, darkmatter) arn't changed, I say go for this new one. It just looks so much better, aside from the extra-poofy mane and the horn.

This is gonna be a tough race, regardless, as lots of people seem to prefer the 'Extra-Bolded-Chibi-Looking-Kiddie-Demi' over the newer 'More-Correctly-Proportioned-Serious-Petsite-Demi'. No insult to those who favor the first, but really, look at the other pets, we're moving away from simplistically drawn 'kawaii' to equally attractive but more seriously drawn pets.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I like the redraw, yet I voted for the old demi. Mainly because of the two things that have been mentioned - the horn and the tail.

I took the picture into photoshop and did a little editing - I quite liked it after I moved the tail closer to the body. The horn should be pointed out more, as right now it looks like it's pretending to be part of Mr/Ms. Demi's Mohawk.

Also the body looks a little plain. Perhaps adding a few more spots here and there would make it look a little cuter. ♥

Overall- well drawn. Just some things that are slightly off that prevent the demi from maintaining it's cute little feel.

As my reborn demi won't be affected, I guess Maggie doesn't really count as a demi. But I quite like the species.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I voted for the new one, for various reasons... mostly because I like the look of the cleaner lines, and the fresher colors.
I am a bit concerned/curious about what some of the color revamps would be, because I love how they are as is... but we'll see.

I'm sorry, I hope I don't hurt the artist's feelings but I feel I must be honest. I was considering getting a Demi at some point, they were one of my favourite pets, but if this revamp goes through I don't think I will. I feel like the artist missed all of the pet's good qualities; the paws, the body, the legs and arms, the tail. They completely changed the Demi's proportions and yes, these may be more anatomically acurate, but it was the pet's proportions that made it cute. This new version has lost all the character that the old one had. The lines on the old one were very defined and sharp, and in comparison the lines on this one are filmsy and weak. The face looks rounded, while it wasn't on the old demi, and the tail, while much more anatomically acurate, has lost all of it's defining shape and character.

I guess it comes down to whether you want to own a cute, cartoony pet or one that's more anatomically acurate. Let's get real here folks, it's a pet game. If I wanted something that was realistic, I'd get a REAL life. I just hate the idea of sacrificing all this pet's charm for realistic proportions or whatever. It's just not cute anymore.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

oh yeah, this is much better.looks are some of the back hairs uncolored,or is that just shine?

also, the horn is a little..straight.maybe move it down the forehead a little to make it jut forward more?

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I voted for the new one, though I have a couple suggestions: The horn could be adjusted to point more forward and the quills stick out a bit more. Both of those suggestions are intended to keep it in line with the old version. The line work and colouring are simply beautiful.

I voted for new what little changes there are from the old are easily fixed in a custom design, you who are complaining about the hair looking more natural and the spots.

The horn I do agree with a little, but it's not something that breaks the pet and is easily fixable. Overall the new demi is far superior, both in quality and anatomy. Bravo!

I think the old version is better, the new one doesn't look that much as a demi, although it matches the original concept quite nicely.
The main things that need some work are anatomy, mane, horn and tail, as was already said. I'm not going to repeat that. Apart from that, it's the color that bothers me. It's dull in comparison with the old version and along with the thin lineart it just adds up to the a bit too delicate image of the new demi.
If the redraw gets it's flaws fixed nicely, then everything's all right but right now I really prefer the old version.

I think the new Demi is beautiful. Well done Vampire! =) I love the generally softer colours, and the thinner line art. However, I do agree with some that the 'mane' should flow a bit more - but to be honest it didn't on the old one either. But it'd be nice if it did, it wouldn't seem so..static? XD

Oh whoa, this Demi looks wonderful o: I love the sleek look, and the shading/highlights overall seem better ^.^ A few little things to stand out to me though. I think that the tail is a little large, though this may be due to the fluff of it xD

As others have said, the head looks a bit small, though I do love how the cheek-fluff is done x3 The hair looks a bit clumped and unatural, like it's a bit greasy? I'm not sure if that's part of the demi's design though. The paws are cute though they're bent at an odd angle.

Very nice though, I'm going to have a very hard time deciding which I prefer ;

This is really amazing, right here.
All I have to say for crits, though..Is the horn seems too straight at the angle..like it's been broken off.
And the hair is too...poofy, if you know what I mean.. Too thick, for me.
But in all good news, the love the anatomy. It's awesome. The tail is perfect. It actually looks like it is sitting on something, and the tail lays against the floor or whatever and then curls. I love the lines. Not too thin at all.
From what I see, everything is in check, except for the horn and hair.
The old one needs a revamp and I'm tired of looking at it, really.
But in all reality, yes, you did an excellent job on this here.
I voted for the new one. =)

Vampire/Tsume drew the new version, not PiranhaPettingZoo/Zae, who drew the Kumos. C:

I love the new demi. Totally. ;D Anyway, I know that Tsume is such a dear and she listens to the crits she gets. I totally trust her on this one.

I also love the lighter colour. The old colour kinda makes me think of fake tan. XD I like how the new colour contrasts more with the markings. :3

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

THis is really nice. Although, what I have to say has been said by other people. Short list-dreads (or..matted hair? O.o ), the tail (should curve more IMO),and the unnaturally straight horn.

I really love the eyes and paws and markings. Definitely gives the owner enough freedom to give the demi it's own personality.

SOmehow though, I feel the demi has been stretched out vertically. I think it might be the chest hairs. It just seems a bit too thin somehow.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I prefer the old one. The new has a better quality of art but there are a few things that look off:

  • The horn points straight upwards at an unnatural angle.

  • The head seems too small and swamped by the body

  • The hair looks too shaggy and too flat...like the demi hasn't washed it's mane for a long while XD

  • The tail, where it lays flat on the ground, just looks odd and more like it's a mistake in the art or something

  • The left front paw bends at an odd angle at the ankle

Is this drawn by the artist who did the Kumos?

I'm totally with Roshu and Mintbean. The horn is somewhat vexing, but overall the new Demi is just so much better than the old one. P: I also agree with MC on the dreds issue, but again, it's problem that could easily be fixed. I don't see the markings being gone, they just kind of 'shrunk,' which probably is to leave a lot up to the imagination when designing one's own Demi. If it's the hip marking that people are missing, you can see it sneaking a peak out from behind the back leg.

But if there's one thing I love about this Demi, it's the paws. Undefined/blobby toesies make me squeal in delight.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Cyn

I really like the redaw of the demi. The artist did a wonderful job of staying very close to the original.

One thing that was mentioned a few times is the lack of markings. I see where they were just moves a littlefurthar up the hip and are jutpeeking out behind the leg, however, I loved them being more visible.

I adore the more slender paws over the chunky style seen in the previous version. The slenderness of the entire pet seems more balanced then before.

As mentioned in a previous post by another user, the horn does look slightly off. The angle makes it seem like it is leaning slightly to the right. Otherwise it seems very good and well done.

All in all, I voted for the new version. Its a great update of art on a pet that does not stray far from the original.

Kudos to the artist.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I voted new. but id like to see that hind foot tucked in, the ears enlarged, the tail shorter and more curved, daker shading, and the eye made more distinctive. I do prefer the horns new position andf while the lines might be a little thin I prefer them to the massively chunky lines on the old one.

I'm actually fond of the redraw. The horn looks rather odd, but that's a minor detail. Altering the angle could easily fix it. And the head could be longer/larger. Other than that, I don't see any of the other 'issues' people have. XD I love how it looks a lot furrier and pump; the current demi is kinda skinny to me.

Hmmm, some of the marking seem to have disappeared on the new one--I'd like to see those back. I don't like the tail, not sure--maybe too narrow and spread out? I also like the horn lower like on the old version.

What he said.

I like the previous Demi better, because this one seems a bit off-balance somehow. The lineart of the old one as bolder, and in contrast the lineart of the new one makes it look a bit plain. And I see the markings have been reduced; this also adds to the "plain" look.

Old one FTW.

sigh
Actually I don't find this redraw that bad. It is kinda still the Demi just updated and not completely changed around, which I am grateful for!
I've been trying to redraw the Demi for ages so I know how hard it is to get it looking right (I'm the original artist btw...eh the Demi was drawn about 3 years ago now...so yeah ^^&quot
I guess everything thats a bit off has been meantioned, but I'm not going to read through every post so I'll just quickly say what irks me.

I think it's mostely the really rounded muzzle that seems odd to me...I think the chin part could be a bit larger..more defined somehow.
The eyes are kinda big and cutesy and feminine...it's also got a somewhat subdued expression. I'm one of the people who think of demis as mischievous and happy ( I know there are people who read the opposite into their expression) but i find it hard to find that in them now The Montre is emo enough for all of Subetas pets xD
The mane(or the dreads xD) doesn't seem to flow very well, I think it's because there are too many defined dreads in the top part...and the few random dreads in the bottom part look out of place.
The tail obviously...it looks like it's trying too hard to fill up canvas space
Overall I think the head could be a bit bigger.
I quite like the body and i like the puffy fluffy ankles I think the toe part should be a little more defined though. I know the artist was going by the original drawing and they kind of look like that, but the original drawing isn't very well drawn so there should be room for interpretation.
The shadings nice and all! I think with the tweaks i have no problem seeing this go through ^^

The old one does need a revamp and i like this one, as i hinted before the new one has much better anatomy then the last, it actually looks like an animal. The hair though, looks a little un natural, like it were big clps of something, they should be a bit more flowy (if that makes sense)

I dont know why people want the old one to stay... it looks a bit to childish
but this is just my opinion.

I voted for the old one.... the new one doesn't have that cute face the old one has.

The Demi is one of my favourite pets here, and in case the new look will win, it won't be that anymore. The new one is well drawn, but it hasn't got the charm of the old one.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Oh noooooooes... ;o; I love my little Demi as he is, but it's true they do need an update. Wouldn't it be better to just redraw the old one with thinner lines? Otherwise, the mouth lacks definition on this one, the tail looks a bit crooked (I would suggest making it curlier like the old one, it was cuter)... That's the thing that bothers me the most really. I think the body altogether looks a lot less defined compared to the old one... Well, it's probably just me, because I liked the fact the Demi was quite skinny with kinda dopey big paws. It added to its appeal. But well... this fits in better so whatever. All I'm asking is fix the tail, and maybe make the body parts more defined, for example the arms just look like they have no bones in them... ;o; ahh, it's difficult to be constructive when you're so attached to the first one like me (my fiiiiirst peeeeet aaaah XD). -is sad-

I actually prefer the old one. The new one does have more sophisticated lines, and the tail looks much better. But I think the new one has lost the expression the old one has. As some people may have pointed out, the old one has a slightly childish and/or teenagerish look that is completely lost here, in my opinion. Although they look very similar, the new one lack the expression and attitude the old one have, hence the new one looks kind of boring to me in compare. I aslo personally like the old one's more skinny breast - it contributes the the childish look. And I think the new one's horn looks a bit off - pointing up and not forward. And, yes, I kind of like the somewhat clumsy (compared to the new one) and sharp lines of the old one, it looks a little punky and, again, childish/teenagersih. (Alright, I'm a fan of the old one I do see that the Demi could use a revamp, but it has to be AT LEAST as good as the current one. Otherwise there is no point!)

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I've voted for the old one. The new Demi is quite good drawn, but it isn't as cute as the old one :/ It was the cute face i loved, and now it just looks...normal. TOO normal.
(I've payed 580k for my arid Demi, but maybe i'll change it again if the new version will win...)

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I like it, but the back leg looks off. It's not wide enough where it's connected to the body--I'd take a look at some sitting dogs or cats, they have similar legs.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Oh, how cute! I love everything apart from the tail...It just doesn't looked right at the bottom where it's completely flat.

I don't honestly see a problem with the horn, it looks fine.

The mane is a strange color as as others have said it doesn't look so..spikey?

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Er... sorry, Subeta, but if the new version passes then I won't be turning Sprikket back into a Demi.

Everything that I loved about the Demi's personality has been changed. The old version looked mischievous, playful, and spunky because its thick lines, chunky features, narrower eyes, and short, stubby limbs. This new version is too thin, too curvy, too delicate, too prim and polished for my tastes.

Not that there's anything wrong with the way the new version is drawn, but I really didn't see the need to revamp the old one.
