I have to say I like the older one better.. ;
The coloring and lineart is really great one this, but I'm not crazy about the shape of the body and the head. And I agree with Krissyfur about it looking more masculine. Subeta doesn't have many dangerous looking pets that look like they could be either gender.

I love the new one, but I agree that the wings need to be redrawn. They look clumsy(sp?), and too large to me. Overall I like the new one much better than the old... not so hunchbacked, and the colors and textures are great.

Though I really wish we saw more colors then just the standard color...

The wings bother me a little bit, they look too big...But other then that, I think the pet itself is gorgeous. :3

This is gorgeous. I don't see why so many people seem to think it looks "fat".. 0_o; I hardly see that. I mean, yeah, it has chunkier lower arms, but that's just stylization..and it fits in very well with the rest of Subeta's pets.

I vote new.'

The only thing I don't like is the wings--the bones are a tad thick. But that's hardly anything to gripe over.

I would have to agree with everyone that said it's looks a little too chunky, though. The legs look rather pudgy compared with the head. They would be better thinned out, slightly.
Other than that, it rocks!

I like the body of it, just think the wings could be a little nicer. I understand it has to fit into a certain size square but maybe just not making them so big would fix that problem.

I like the new magnus, it has better lineart and I adore the texture, but I'm going to have to vote for the old one. The main reason being that I don't like how chubby it looks.

I do agree though that if it was slimmer or had more hard angles as befitting a gargoyle or how I picture a gargoyle at the very least, I would be fine with it.

I also like the longer horns on the old one and i agree to a certain extent that the wings though they could technically bear the weight of the magnus itself now do seem a bit cumbersome.

I really like this new revamp. I think it looks more fem. actually, even though everyone says it looks more masculine. I like the detail of it, and the position better then the old mangus. The only thing I could see is making the arms slimmer so it doesnt look as fat like. Also the legs. I know its ment to be muscular because its a flying gargoyle, but it would give it a better slimmer apperance. Also, the 'veins' for the wings could be a bit thinner too. But its altogether a great improvement on the current one.

BTW: To those of you complaining about it looking like a dillema, the artist that did the dillema also did the revamp picture.

Well if you think about Gargoyles there medievil. Back then in medievil times things were made crudly not ment to be pretty. And if a Magnus is stone you cannot have it thin or it'd break easly under it's own weight.

It's bulkier arms give it the illusion it's fat but if you look at it's gut is't not. But I do agree the horns maybe should be a bit bigger.

The chibi has whisker thingies right now. They're not fangs.

The reason why we decided to poll with fangs instead of whiskers is that the DRAGON has whiskers already, and since the original magnus has fangs, we thought it would be good to try going back to its roots.

Or if you have a girly boy magnus. >->; The current one is not so gender disrupting, you can have a stoic male or a purty female, or...something in between in Maggie's case. >_> But this one is like. Fat and not-so-gorgeous female, or a manly man. >>; If it was slimmed down a bit then this new one would be goregeous. I personally thought that the only thing the current magnus needed wast o be relined and have some more texture added. Longer horns and slimmer arms/tummy would make me a lot happier personally. But I've long since realized that it doesn't matter if one person is happy or not. xD

My problem with the new is...it looks masculine like people said...what if you have a female Magnus? And like Krissyfur said: it reminds me of the dellemia...the pose even reminds me of it o.0' shudders at living plushies

It took me a long time to decide between the new and old. There's alot I love about both of them; the texture and the teeth of the new one, but then the sleekness and the larger horns of the older one.
Eventually I decided on the older one. The pose and everything just seems.. Right somehow. I'd like to see the older one with the same kind of texture as the new one.

Oh I love the new design! It makes it more gargoyle-esk, Chunky? Naaah It looks bigger but not fat. <3's to who re-designed the Mangus! I really cannot wait to see how the other colors look with the redesign.

Maggie is my first pet, and a sun magnus. <_< Even though he's a swampie now 'cos I zapped him. He will be back to a sun magnus whenever he turns back to being a boy.

I don't really, know if I like this or not. o.o; The art is better lyke omg. But...it seems kinda.. chubby. o.o; Like a mixture between a dellemia and something. But the style of the fatty!magnus is better so I'm gonna have to vote for it, progress and all that. ;P That's why there are other species elixirs. xD

Sorry for double posting, but natalie makes a point - the new one does look a little too squishy to be a stone gargoyle. If the new look must be kept, some straighter edges and less... roundness in the shading and lines might help fix that.

Also, am I the only one tho thinks the whisker things on the current version look more gargoyle-like than the fangs in the revamp? Lots of animals have plain ol' fangs, but it takes a dragon/gargoyle to pull off the exotic barbel/whisker look. I prefer to leave the teeth to the imagination; protruding fangs on closed mouths always look funny to me. Looks more like walrus tusks than reptilian teeth. :

Tate's art is lovely, but... I'm sorry, I had to vote old. I just liked the Magnus the way it was. : Mainly because I'm a sucker for that sort of aloof, lithe-yet-lanky pose and sidelong glare at the viewer, which Mystic captured so perfectly... but I also loved the markings down its back and tail. I can't see any of that in the new version; even if it was meant to be retained, it's all moot without the side view pose. Besides, I just don't see why the Magnus needed to be changed. It still looks plenty up-to-date with the other art on the site to me.

Not that it matters, of course... the shiny pretty new version nearly always triumphs over the old in these polls. re-evaluates months-long plan to get a Magnus

I've always thought the Magnus was a gargoyle, and this is fantastic. However, would it be possible to make it more muscled, or to at least show some muscle definition? Only slightly because it just looks kind of soft and squooshy. Other than that everything is great, the texture is perfect. Whoever drew it did a great job. <33

Oh....Well, you said to keep the critic constructive. And I would suggest a poll for it. Correct me if there was, but I havn't seen one.. I did not like this version, I preferred the previous version, which made it look more thoughtful. But well...As artwork it is good, don't get me wrong, it just doesn't seem like my Mortiis anymore :p But hey, great work on all the revamps lately.

I got a Magnus the first day I started playing, I always liked them, but as I was able to aford fun colors, the magnus got species changed too. It was cute, but other pets stood out more to me. Now, I LOVE IT! I want to change Vaasha back into a magnus. I LOVE gargoyles and I'm thrilled it looks less like just another dragon and more like a gargoyle. Great job, I can't wait to see new colors for it.
And with those bright cautious eyes, that curling tail like an agitated cat, and that raised paw like it's about to react to something, how can you suggest it doesn't look very alive? It's just got a stony hide, not so different than scales if you ask me. ;p WONDERFUL

I like it, but I liked the older one better, just because this one makes the Mangus look a little chubby and when I think of dragons/etc I think of a slimmer critter. But that is just me, and the artist made a decent revamp ^^. I like the texture. Good job.
